A League Round 18: Radnicki KG is upset by Srbobran Reahem - Jan 28, 2013

The Regular Season in A League is slowly approaching the end. But there may be still some important changes in the final standings in the last 4 rounds.

The most important game in the last round took place in Srbobran between third ranked Radnicki KG (10-6) and eighth ranked Srbobran Reahem (8-9) on Saturday night. Radnicki KG was defeated by Srbobran Reahem on the road 57-46. The game was mostly controlled by Srbobran Reahem. Radnicki KG managed to win second period 18-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Radnicki KG to just 4 points in first quarter. Srbobran Reahem had a 28-17 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was swingman Milena Radosevic (173-87) who scored 22 points. Forward Kristina Milosevic (177-90) chipped in 17 points and 4 steals. At the other side the best for losing team was Bosnian center Nikolina Milic (195-94) who recorded 15 points and 5 rebounds. Srbobran Reahem moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Student. Radnicki KG at the other side keeps the third position with six games lost. Srbobran Reahem will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Radnicki KG will play at home against Stara Pazova and is hoping to win this game.
Leader Crvena Zvezda delivered the fifteenth victory. This time they crushed 10th ranked Beocin (4-12) 96-61 in Beograd. It was a good game for power forward Katarina Vuckovic (191-94) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds. Aleksandra Stanacev contributed with 14 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists for the winners. Guard Tamara Ruzic (180-79, college: Charleston So.) replied with 11 points for Beocin. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Crvena Zvezda (15-1) have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain first position. Beocin at the other side keeps the tenth place with 12 games lost. Crvena Zvezda will play against Sumadija KG (#5) in Kragujevac in the next round. Beocin will play at home against Vrbas Medela (#6) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
Bottom-ranked Celarevo (0-16) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 68-64 loss to seventh ranked Vrbas Medela (8-8) in Vrbas on Saturday evening. Natasa Mijatovic had a double-double by scoring 20 points, 18 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals to lead the charge for the winners. The best for the losing side was Marija Radosevic with 23 points and 5 assists. Vrbas Medela have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Sumadija KG. Loser Celarevo still closes the standings. Vrbas Medela will meet Beocin (#10) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Celarevo will play against the league's second-placed Jagodina 2001 and hopes to get finally their first victory.
The game in Kragujevac was also worth to mention about. 6th ranked Student Radnicki (8-9) played at the court of eighth ranked Sumadija KG (8-8). Sumadija KG defeated Student Radnicki 71-61. Milana Zivadinovic notched 22 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals to lead the effort. Sumadija KG have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Vrbas Medela. Student Radnicki at the other side dropped to the seventh position with nine games lost. Sumadija KG's next round opponent will be league's leader Crvena Zvezda in Beograd and it may be quite challenging game. Student Radnicki will play on the road against Sabac (#4).

In the last game of round 18 Sabac defeated Stara Pazova in a road game 51-44.


Sumadija KG - Student 71-61

The game in Kragujevac was also worth to mention about. 6th ranked Student Radnicki (8-9) played at the court of eighth ranked Sumadija KG (8-8). Sumadija KG defeated Student Radnicki 71-61. The game was mostly controlled by Sumadija KG. Student Radnicki was better in third quarter 21-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Student Radnicki to just 7 points in second quarter. Sumadija KG forced 26 Student Radnicki turnovers. Guard Milana Zivadinovic (179-91) notched 22 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals to lead the effort and guard Hristina Marjanovic (170-92) supported her with 12 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals. Four Sumadija KG players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 22 points and 10 rebounds by center Marija Ilic (190-85, agency: Global Sports Plaza) did not help to save the game for Student Radnicki. Guard Milena Popovic (171-86) added 8 points and 7 rebounds. Sumadija KG have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Vrbas Medela. Student Radnicki at the other side dropped to the seventh position with nine games lost. Sumadija KG's next round opponent will be league's leader Crvena Zvezda in Beograd and it may be quite challenging game. Student Radnicki will play on the road against Sabac (#4).

Crvena Zvezda - Beocin 96-61

Leader Crvena Zvezda delivered the fifteenth victory. This time they crushed 10th ranked Beocin (4-12) 96-61 in Beograd. The game was mostly controlled by Crvena Zvezda. Beocin was better in second period 24-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Crvena Zvezda dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Beocin's 32. Crvena Zvezda forced 22 Beocin turnovers and outrebounded them 51-27 including a 22-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 27 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Beocin's players. It was a good game for power forward Katarina Vuckovic (191-94) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds. point guard Aleksandra Stanacev (167-94) contributed with 14 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists for the winners. Stara Pazova - Sabac 44-51

There was no surprise when 9th ranked Stara Pazova (6-11) was defeated at home by fourth ranked Sabac (10-7) 51-44. It looked good early as Stara Pazova took an 8-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Sabac took control and eventually winning the game that evening by 7 points. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Stara Pazova to just 7 points in second quarter. They outrebounded Stara Pazova 36-24 including 24 on the defensive glass. Point guard Jovana Vidakovic (171-94) notched 17 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort and forward Jelena Stankovic (180-93) supported her with 6 points and 7 rebounds. Even 13 points by guard Zorana Nikolic (166-92) did not help to save the game for Stara Pazova. Center Ivana Terzic (187-86) added 7 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Sabac maintains fourth position with 10-7 record. Stara Pazova lost third consecutive game. They keep the ninth place with 11 games lost. Sabac's next round opponent will be Student Radnicki (#8) in Nis. Stara Pazova will play on the road against Radnicki KG in Kragujevac.
