KLS Round 18: Borac defeat Tamis in the closest game of the week - Feb 28, 2017

The most exciting game of round 18 in the KLS took place in Pancevo. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of 7th ranked Tamis (10-8) to third ranked Borac (13-5) 82-80 on Saturday evening. The guests trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 4-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 82-80. 25 personal fouls committed by Tamis helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Point guard Marko Radonjic (191-93) scored 21 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and point guard Marko Marinovic (183-83) chipped in 14 points during the contest. Borac's coach Rasko Bojic used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. The best for the losing side was guard Dusan Milosevic (198-90, agency: BeoExcell) with 12 points and 9 rebounds. Borac have an impressive 11-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 13-5 record behind leader Vrsac. Tamis at the other side dropped to the sixth place with eight games lost. They share the position with Mladost ZE and Napredak K.. Borac are looking forward to face Dunav SB (#5) in Stari Banovci in the next round. Tamis will play on the road against Spartak in Subotica and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Even 22 points by Montenegrin Ivan Jelenic (192-85) did not help to save the game for Spartak. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Vrsac maintains first position with 14-4 record, which they share with Dynamic BG. Spartak at the other side keeps the fourth place with seven games lost. They share the position with Dunav SB. Vrsac will play against OKK Beograd (#11) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Spartak will play against Tamis (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Mladost ZE. The best player for the winners was Milos Milisavljevic who scored 15 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Dynamic BG's coach Miroslav Nikolic allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the other side the best for losing team was Aleksandar Sokolovic who recorded 21 points and 9 assists. Dynamic BG keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Vrsac. Loser Mladost ZE keeps the sixth place with eight games lost. They share the position with Napredak K. and Tamis. Dynamic BG will meet bottom-ranked Konstantin (#14) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Mladost ZE will play against Smederevo (#13) and hope to secure a win.

There were no shocking results in the other games in round 18: Napredak K. destroyed Beovuk 72 on the opponent's court 102-83. Metalac outscored OKK Beograd in a home game 84-63. Bottom-ranked Konstantin was rolled over Dunav SB on the road 95-75. Smederevo was defeated by Sloga on its own court 79-97.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 14 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists by Goran Ostojic of Sloga.

Beovuk 72 - Napredak K. 83-102

The game between closely ranked teams ended with 9th ranked Beovuk 72's (8-10) home loss to eighth ranked KK Napredak Rubin Krusevac (10-8) 83-102 on Monday. KK Napredak Rubin Krusevac made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. They also forced 25 Beovuk 72 turnovers. Strangely Beovuk 72 outrebounded KK Napredak Rubin Krusevac 36-22 including 22 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. The best player for the winners was swingman Jovan Djordjevic (198-93) who scored 26 points. Center Milan Markovic (208-90) chipped in 16 points and 8 rebounds. Five KK Napredak Rubin Krusevac players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Stefan Fundic (199-94) who recorded a double-double by scoring 18 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists and swingman Bogdan Dragovic (191-90) added 17 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) respectively. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. KK Napredak Rubin Krusevac moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Mladost ZE and Tamis. Loser Beovuk 72 keeps the ninth position with ten games lost. They share it with Metalac. KK Napredak Rubin Krusevac will meet at home Metalac (#10) in the next round. Beovuk 72 will play against Sloga in Kraljevo and hope to secure a win.

Spartak was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Australian guard Mirko Djeric (191-95) notched 19 points and 5 rebounds to lead the effort and forward Marko Stojadinovic (204-89) supported him with 15 points. The game in Zemun was also quite interesting. Second ranked Dynamic BG (14-4) played at the court of 6th ranked Mladost ZE (10-8). Dynamic BG managed to secure a 9-point victory 83-74 on Sunday. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Mladost ZE. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Mladost ZE won third quarter 27-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Dynamic BG looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was point guard Milos Milisavljevic (193-93) who scored 15 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Bosnian swingman Aleksandar Lazic (201-96) chipped in 18 points and 6 rebounds. Dynamic BG's coach Miroslav Nikolic allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the other side the best for losing team was swingman Aleksandar Sokolovic (194-93) who recorded 21 points and 9 assists and guard Ognjen Kuzeta (193-87) added 14 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Metalac - OKK Beograd 84-63

Everything could happen in Valjevo at the game between two tied teams. Both eleventh ranked Metalac and 10th ranked OKK Beograd had identical 7-10 record. This time Metalac used a home court advantage and smashed the opponent from Beograd 84-63 on Saturday night. The hosts trailed by 6 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 4-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 84-63. Metalac made 20-of-25 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Metalac outrebounded OKK Beograd 45-26 including a 32-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was naturalized Bosnian guard Marko Josilo (200-92) who had a double-double by scoring 18 points and 14 rebounds. Brano Djukanovic (194-95) chipped in 20 points. Four Metalac players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was swingman Nemanja Manojlovic (193-93) who recorded 7 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and point guard Strahinja Jovanovic (180-96) added 16 points respectively. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Metalac (8-10) moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Beovuk 72. Loser OKK Beograd dropped to the eleventh position with 11 games lost. They share it with Sloga. Metalac will meet higher ranked KK Napredak Rubin Krusevac (#8) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. OKK Beograd will play against the league's leader Vrsac where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.

The game between closely ranked teams ended with twelfth ranked Sloga's (7-11) road victory over 13th ranked Smederevo (2-16) 97-79 on Friday. The guests trailed by 6 points at the halftime before their 59-35 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Sloga outrebounded Smederevo 36-21 including 24 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was forward Goran Ostojic (205-91) who had a double-double by scoring 14 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists. Point guard Petar Vorkapic (194-95) chipped in 10 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was point guard Novak Music (188-98, agency: BeoBasket) who recorded 18 points and forward Stefan Kenic (200-97, agency: BeoBasket) added 14 points respectively. Five Sloga and four Smederevo players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Sloga moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with OKK Beograd. Loser Smederevo keeps the thirteenth position with 16 games lost. Sloga will meet at home higher ranked Beovuk 72 (#9) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Smederevo will play against Mladost ZE (#7) and hope to secure a win.
