Galatasaray announced first big signing in the off-season. The team from Istanbul agreed terms with Radoslav Rancik (207-F/C-79, agency: Beo Basket, college: St.Cloud St.), who played last season for Italian Benetton Treviso. The Slovakian star had 10 appearances in EuroCup averaging 9.5 ppg and 4.4 rpg. In Serie A he played 30 games registering 9.6 ppg and 4.2 rpg. The Slovakian star had 10 appearances in EuroCup averaging 9.5 ppg and 4.4 rpg. In Serie A he played 30 games registering 9.6 ppg and 4.2 rpg. His ex team Benetton managed to reach Playoff Semifinals and it will play in Euroleague Qualifications 09/10. They ended as No. 4 in Serie A regular season with 18-12 record. Later, Benetton was better than La Fortezza 3-2 in the Quarterfinals, but the reigning champ Montepaschi Siena was too strong at the next stage. They finished the Series with perfect 3-0. Before Benetton, Radoslav Rancik spent three years with CEZ Basketball Nymbirk winning 3 championship title and 2 Czech Republic National Cup trophies. In 2008 he was named 'Eurobasket.com Czech Rep. Most Valuable Player'. A year before he earned 'Eurobasket.com All-Czech Rep. League Player of the Year'. On season 04/05 he was a member of Evreux and before that of Paris Basket Racing. Radoslav Rancik graduated at the St.Cloud University in 2002. Galatasaray will try to make a step forward next season and to reach the TBL Finals.

Zilina entered the market prior to the Extraliga season. They started to bolster their squad landing several new players.
Zilina have agreed with on terms of contract with Miroslav Futo (207-C-80, agency: Promotex). The 29-year-old centre played for Dolny Kubin in the last season. There he averaged 10.2 points and 2.7 rebounds per game. Miroslav Futo used to play for Zilina from 2003 through 2005.

Slovakian Basketball Federation hired Croatian Ivan Rudez as a coach. 29-year old Rudez is the first foreign member of Slovakia's coaching staff in the history.
Ivan Rudez spent last two seasons with HBK Prievidza. He took over the team in 2007, after they earned promotion to Extraliga. After that, they smashed Banska Bystrica in the Quarterfinals with perfect 3-0. In the Semis Preividza was not able to resists against Nitra losing the Series 1-3. Anyway, in the battle for third place Prievidza managed to win the Bronze. Ivan Rudez will be the coach, while the first man of Slovakian NT is still Milan Cernicky. Slovakia is looking forward to contest in Division B. Their chance to get the promotion to Division A are slim as Georgia and Sweden already has way more points. However, Team Slovakia is full of optimism and their goal is to rejuvenate the team. According to Rudez, NT will keep experienced Radoslav Rancik (207-F/C-79, agency: Beo Basket, college: St.Cloud St.) and Anton Gavel (189-G-84, agency: Pro One Sports).
