Last time I wrote on here I think we were in 4th or 5th place and was really starting to improve as a team. Last time I wrote on here I think we were in 4th or 5th place and was really starting to improve as a team. Now we have won 7 of our last 8 games including the last two games against the #1 and #2 teams in the league. Both games were very tough and close games but we prevailed in the end. At the beginning of the season we just were unable to win on the road now we have some quality wins on the road and at home we have always been great. Individually I am still #1 in scoring and now #1 in assists. I try every single practice and every single game to make my teammates better and try to get them easy shots. I really notice the change in the defenses focusing on me even more now so I think my assists can go up even more, because my teammates have been playing great. We are in 3rd place, but it is a tight race and no one will know until the last regular season game how the playoffs will look like. We are looking to finish the last 6 games strong and be in a great rhythm for the playoffs and hopefully have home court advantage for the 1st two rounds. I don't think many people expected Handlova to be in the top 3 towards the end of the season so I am doing everything I can to continue to surprise people. We are heading into the cup games this week in Nitra and it should be fun as all of the teams will play and the Championship will be on the final day. They also have a 3point contest and dunk contest would should be a lot of fun. I have to mention our fans and the fans in general in Slovakia. They are amazing! Everyone is so into the games, and cheers every single game. Ever since the 1st preseason game the fans were at the game and it was almost sold out so I knew they were special here. They chant your name, make signs and cheer hard every game. Some of them come to the practices so as a player that is great to see that appreciation. The derby game that we have against Prievidza is unbelievable and a blessing to get to play in a game like that. I wish every game was a derby/rivalry game. Fans are screaming at one another, the games are sold out completely, and they are there over an hour before the game. When I walk into the gym I have a tingling feeling all over my body and I am immediately ready to play. I have so much energy and anticipation built up inside , I wish it would never end. But this is the end of this blog, Ciao World!!!

American swingman Anthony Jones (194-G/F-84) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Handlova, receiving a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 29. The 27-year old player got a double-double of 31 points and 10 assists, while his team edged out Nitra (#2, 17-8) 91-87. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. Handlova maintains the 4th position in Slovakian Extraliga. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Handlova will need more victories to improve their 15-11 record. In the team's last game Jones had a remarkable 61.5% from 2-point range. He turned to be Handlova's top player in his first season with the team. Former Indiana Tech star has very solid stats this year. Jones is league's best scorer averaging so far 28.1ppg, leads league in rebounds with 5.8rpg and is league's best passer with 7.4apg. Jones is in league's top in and averages impressive 2.5spg,54.2% FGP and 40.2% from behind 3-point line.
The second best player in last round's games was 24-year old American Andrew Jones (208-F-87) of Nova Ves. Jones had a very good evening with a double-double of 19 points and 19 rebounds. Of course he lead Nova Ves to another comfortable win 98-85 over slightly lower-ranked Svit (#6, 12-13) being unquestionably team leader. Nova Ves' 5th position in the standings has not changed. His team lost some distance to top teams. But 14-12 record is not bad and everything may still change. Jones is a newcomer at Nova Ves, but is already one of team's top players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 17.1ppg (#1). He also registered 11.9 boards per game.
Third on the list of top players last round was American guard Johnathon Jones (183-G-88, agency: TSS Management) of Komarno (#3). Jones scored 18 points and passed eleven assists (!!!). He was a key player of Komarno, leading his team to a 106-77 easy win against the lower-ranked B.Bystrica (#8, 7-19). Komarno needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 15 victories and 10 lost games. Jones has a great season in Slovakia. After 25 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 16.4ppg (best scorer), rebounds with 3.6rpg (#1 in league) and assists with 5.5apg (best passer).

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
