Former coach of Lucenec was few weeks ago on six weeks study placement in KK Split, former 'Jugoplastika'. Kovacik finish with Lucenec in quarterfinal season ago. Three teams from slovak extraliga will continue without their foreign playmakers. MVP of slovak extraliga All-Stars Dom Johnson (183-G-85, college: Illinois St.) from Handlova have huge problems with his knees and need at least two months free, so he's gone back to USA. Poprad finished their contract witk Robertas Bitinas (184-G-84). He played ten games for Chemosvit, but he looks good only in two of them. Poprad will look on new playmaker on american market. HBK Prievidza suffered road defeat against Chemosvit Poprad 50-67 in the last Extraliga Round in 2008. However, despite this loss visitors ended year on top with 14-4 record. Chemosvit had impressive first half of the game creating 15-point lead. Prievidza slightly improved after that, but it was not enough against the very motivated hosts. Peter Sedmak (203-C-85) top-scored for the winners with 19 points. Zachary Ingles (188-G-83, college: E.Kentucky) was behind him with 13. [read more]

AX SPU Nitra managed to crush Pezinok as a guest 105-101 in derby game of Round 18. It means that these two teams currently share the second place with 13 wins and 5 defeats. It was very exciting game until the end. Both teams netted 60 points in the second and 59 in third quarter. Eugene Lawrence (185-G-86, college: St.John's) led the scorers in this game with impressive 32 points. Dametri Hill (203-C-74, college: Florida) also shined for the winners with 20, while Lubos Pohanka (190-G-77) helped with 16 points. Andrej Lukjanec (203-F/C-69) was totally the best in loss with 29 points. Lorenzo Williams (191-G-84, college: Rice) followed him delivering 20.
