Komarno - Prievidza 83-77

Komarno stepped closer to the trophy after they defeated Prievidza in the title series opener. The hosts trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 39-32 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Strangely Prievidza outrebounded Komarno 45-32 including a 21-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. 24 personal fouls committed by Prievidza helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American guard Johnathon Jones (183-88, college: Oakland, agency: TSS Management) fired 23 points and 4 assists for the winners. Slovenian forward Sinisa Bilic (201-89) chipped in 11 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Greek-American guard Nick Livas (198-88, college: Ill.-Springfield) produced a double-double by scoring 10 points and 13 rebounds and American forward Bobby Davis (200-87, college: Edinboro) added 12 points and 11 rebounds respectively for lost side. Four Komarno and five Prievidza players scored in double figures.

Nitra eked out a narrow win over Svit to surge ahead in the consolation final series. It looked good early as Svit took an 9-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Nitra took control winning two of next three quarters and eventually winning the game that evening by 2 points. Nitra outrebounded Svit 41-25 including a 15-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of Australian forward Ater Majok (208-87, college: Connecticut) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 24 points and 13 rebounds. International center Roman Vido (203-88) contributed with 12 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Four Nitra players scored in double figures. Forward Vincent Polakovic (203-84, college: USF) answered with 23 points (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) and American forward Kenneth Henderson (201-82, college: Texas Arlington) added 15 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Svit.

25-year old swingman Milic Blagojevic (200-G/F-91) had a great game in the last round for Lucenec and receives a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 34. He had the game-high 30 points adding nine rebounds for Lucenec in his team's victory, helping them to beat Nova Ves (#10, 6-25) 77-72. Lucenec maintains the 8th position in Slovakian league. The most important game in the last round took place in MBK Handlova between third ranked Prievidza (20-10) and seventh ranked Handlova (15-16) on Wednesday night. Defending champion BC Prievidza (SBL) landed 31-year old American (has also Swedish passport) point guard Omar Krayem (186-87kg-86, college: Cal.Baptist). He played in the summer at Globalport in Filipino PBA league. Krayem managed to play in three leagues last year (!!!). First he played at Boras Basket in Swedish Basketligan where in 27 games he averaged impressive 16.0ppg, 4.4rpg, 6.2apg and 1.6spg. Krayem helped them to make it to the semifinals.
