Estonia wins thriller to remain undefeated at the U18 European Championship in Division B. The team grabbed valuable 67:65 win over Slovak Republic for 3-0 record on top of Group B. The latter meanwhile fell at 0-3 record.
It was a slow start in the game as the teams scored only 21 points in the first 10 minutes. Slovakia had 11:10 and then Hendrik Ruut (190-PG-94) gave Estonia 14:13 advantage early in the second. Georg Tambre (194-PF-94) closed the half at 33:24 as Estonia won the frame 23-13. Slovakia also scored 13 points in the third period, but it was enough to tie the margin only for the period. Kent Vene (192-SG-94) brought 48:40 early in the fourth, while Hendrik Ruut and Sander Saare (182-PG-94) ensured the latest baskets for the winners.
Sander Saare and Kent Vene top-scored for the winners with 14 points each for a perfect record. Hendrik Ruut nailed 13, while Georg Tambre added 12. Vladimir Brodziansky (206-PF-94) and Martin Matejcik (185-G-94) replied with 19 points each in the losing effort. Vladimir Nemcok (183-PG-95) had 12, while Robert Rozim (199-F-94) collected 8 points and 12 rebounds.

25-year old swingman Milic Blagojevic (200-G/F-91) had a great game in the last round for Lucenec and receives a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 34. He had the game-high 30 points adding nine rebounds for Lucenec in his team's victory, helping them to beat Nova Ves (#10, 6-25) 77-72. Lucenec maintains the 8th position in Slovakian league. The most important game in the last round took place in MBK Handlova between third ranked Prievidza (20-10) and seventh ranked Handlova (15-16) on Wednesday night. Prievidza was defeated by Handlova in a tough game on the road 67-75. Defending champion BC Prievidza (SBL) landed 31-year old American (has also Swedish passport) point guard Omar Krayem (186-87kg-86, college: Cal.Baptist). He played in the summer at Globalport in Filipino PBA league. Krayem managed to play in three leagues last year (!!!). First he played at Boras Basket in Swedish Basketligan where in 27 games he averaged impressive 16.0ppg, 4.4rpg, 6.2apg and 1.6spg. Krayem helped them to make it to the semifinals.
