The Regular Season in Extraliga just started.

B.Bystrica - Levice 85-94

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of SKP Banska Bystrica (0-1) at the home court. Hosts were defeated by Levice (1-0) 94-85. The guests were already 11 points ahead at halftime and as many as 16 after three quarters before a 23-16 last quarter charge of SKP Banska Bystrica cut the lead to 94-85 at the end of the game. Levice forced 20 SKP Banska Bystrica turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Willie Kemp (188-87, college: Memphis) who helped to win the game recording 16 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. Canadian forward Troy Gottseling (203-87) contributed with 18 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Levice's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The former international power forward Peter Dorazil (199-89) answered with 14 points and 6 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) and Croatian forward Sasa Jankovic (204-84) added 14 points in the effort for SKP Banska Bystrica. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Levice will play against Svit at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. SKP Banska Bystrica will play against Nitra in Nitra to get more than just one victory in their record.

Svit - Nova Ves 65-91

An interesting game where Nova Ves crushed host Svit with 26-point difference 91-65 on Saturday evening. The game without a history. Nova Ves led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. International forward Stanislav Baldovsky (192-89) stepped up and scored 26 points and 6 rebounds for the winners and Serbian power forward Aco Mandic (204-84) chipped in 17 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Nova Ves players scored in double figures. Nova Ves' coach felt very confident that he used 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side American forward Kenneth Henderson (201-82, college: Texas Arlington) responded with 16 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and Serbian Marko Puzic (198-85) scored 12 points and 5 rebounds. Nova Ves will meet at home Inter Bratislava in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Svit will play against Levice.

Inter Bratislava - Komarno 100-80

Inter Bratislava smashed Komarno at home 100-80. Inter Bratislava led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 24-of-26 free shots (92.3 percent) during the game. Inter Bratislava had a 28-15 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Inter Bratislava especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 57.1 percentage. 25 personal fouls committed by Komarno helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Montenegrin guard Goran Bulatovic (184-88) fired 29 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. The former international power forward Radoslav Rancik (207-79, college: St.Cloud St., agency: Beo Basket) chipped in a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds. Inter Bratislava's coach Oliver Vidin used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Kevin Thompson (205-89, college: Morgan St.) produced a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds and the other American import forward Nasir Robinson (195-89, college: Pittsburgh, agency: TSS Management) added 21 points respectively for lost side. Four Inter Bratislava and five Komarno players scored in double figures. Komarno will play next round against Handlova trying to get back on the winning streak. Inter Bratislava will try to continue on its current victory against Nova Ves on the road.

Nitra used a home court advantage and crushed the opponent from Prievidza 87-63 on Saturday night. The game was mostly controlled by Nitra. Prievidza managed to win second period 20-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Nitra forced 24 Prievidza turnovers. Center Juraj Hasan (202-89) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds for the winners and American point guard Deremy Geiger (180-90, college: Idaho) chipped in 19 points and 4 assists. Four Nitra players scored in double figures. At the losing side American point guard Paul Gause (180-86, college: Seton Hall, agency: I.D.S. Law) responded with 15 points and 7 rebounds and the other American import forward Joseph Harris (196-87, college: Co.Carolina) scored 12 points and 6 rebounds. Prievidza's coach Jamie Andrisevic gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Nitra will meet at home SKP Banska Bystrica in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Prievidza will have a break next round.

This is still too early stage of the Regular Season in SBL and we should expect many changes in upcoming rounds. The most exciting game of round 4 in the SBL took place in Svit. American Eric Palm (188-G-87) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Iskra Svit and that's him to receive a Player of the Week award for round 3. The 29-year old guard had the game-high 34 points adding four rebounds and six assists for Iskra Svit in his team's victory, helping them to beat Inter Bratislava (2-1) in overtime 114-106.
