It's still too early stage of the Regular Season in Extraliga, but even now we can clearly see the differece between stronger teams and outsiders.

Undefeated Inter Bratislava (4-1) recorded its first loss at the home court on Saturday night. Hosts were defeated by ninth ranked Prievidza (1-3) 75-62. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Inter Bratislava. Inter Bratislava was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Prievidza forced 24 Inter Bratislava turnovers. The best player for the winners was American power forward Barkley Falkner (203-F/C-86, college: Sam Houston St.) who scored 23 points and 7 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). His fellow American import forward Joseph Harris (196-87, college: Co.Carolina) chipped in 9 points and 5 assists. American guard Justin Graham (193-88, college: San Jose St.) produced 14 points for the hosts. It was the only win of guest team this round and in all other games host teams recorded victories. Defending champion left bottom position moving up to eighth place. Inter Bratislava at the other side still keeps top position with one game lost. Prievidza are looking forward to face higher ranked Handlova (#5) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Inter Bratislava will have a break next round.
An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Komarno. Third ranked Komarno faced second-ranked Nitra. Host Komarno (3-1) defeated guests from Nitra (3-2) 95-91. It was a key game for the second position in the league. American point guard Chris Lowe (182-87, college: Massachusetts, agency: KMG Sports Management) orchestrated the victory by scoring 14 points and 9 assists. Nasir Robinson contributed with 17 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners. Komarno's coach Frantisek Ron allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Bahamas guard J.R. Cadot (195-87, college: TCU) answered with 26 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists for Nitra. Komarno have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to second place. Nitra at the other side dropped to the third position with two games lost. Komarno will play against bottom-ranked Svit (#9) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Nitra will play against Levice (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Nova Ves will meet at home higher ranked SKP Banska Bystrica (#6) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Levice will play against Nitra in Nitra and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Svit's coach Ivan Fulgosi rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Handlova moved-up to fourth place, which they share with B.Bystrica and Levice. Svit at the other side stay at the bottom position with four games lost. Handlova's next round opponent will be Prievidza (#8) at home. Svit will play against the league's second-placed Komarno.


Nova Ves - Levice 85-74

An interesting game where host Nova Ves (#7) won against 4th placed Levice 85-74 on Monday evening. The game was mostly controlled by Nova Ves. Levice managed to win third quarter 28-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Nova Ves forced 27 Levice turnovers. American point guard Maurice Acker (173-87, college: Marquette, agency: Edge Sports) stepped up and scored 21 points and 8 assists for the winners and his fellow American import power forward Dwight Burke (202-86, college: Marquette) chipped in 19 points and 8 rebounds. Burke is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Slovenian center Salih Nuhanovic (208-82) responded with 12 points and 9 rebounds and the former international Tomas Mrvis (200-91) scored 16 points. Four Levice players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Nova Ves maintains seventh place with 2-3 record. An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Komarno. Third ranked Komarno faced second-ranked Nitra. Host Komarno (3-1) defeated guests from Nitra (3-2) 95-91. It was a key game for the second position in the league. The hosts were already 11 points ahead after 3 quarters before a 31-24 Nitra's run in the last quarter cut the lead to 95-91 at the end of the game. Komarno made 17-of-22 charity shots (77.3 percent) during the game. It was a great shooting night for Komarno especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 61.5 percentage. American point guard Chris Lowe (182-87, college: Massachusetts, agency: KMG Sports Management) orchestrated the victory by scoring 14 points and 9 assists. His fellow American import forward Nasir Robinson (195-89, college: Pittsburgh, agency: TSS Management) contributed with 17 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners. The game with biggest result difference took place in Handlova. Local Handlova (2-2) beat 9th ranked Svit (1-4) 82-69. The game was mostly controlled by Handlova. Australian guard Anthony Stewart (196-70) came up with 12 points and 7 rebounds and Serbian Marko Puzic (198-85) added 9 points respectively for Svit in the defeat. 26-year old guard Andre Jones (191-G-90) had a very impressive game in the last round for Prievidza and receives a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 25. He had the game-high 25 points adding five rebounds and four assists for Prievidza in his team's victory, helping them to beat Nova Ves (#10, 3-20) 90-75. Host teams show no mercy winning all games. Fifth-ranked Iskra Svit (12-11) was very close to win a game against second ranked Inter Bratislava (18-5) on Saturday. Inter Bratislava managed to secure only two-point victory 89-87. However their fans expected easier game. Inter Bratislava shot 66.0 percent from the field.
