There were just 6 rounds played in Regular Season of Extraliga and we can clearly see which teams will fight for top positions and which will try to avoid bottom places.
The most important game in the last round took place in Levice between third ranked Nitra (3-3) and fifth ranked Levice (3-2) on Monday night. Nitra was defeated by Levice on the road 66-81. It was a very close game until the last quarter, when Levice's pressure prevailed and they won that period 20-12 extending their advantage to 15 points. It was a great shooting night for Levice especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 53.3 percentage. It was a good game for American guard David Kyles (190-89, college: Wichita St.) who led his team to a victory with 22 points and 4 assists. Canadian forward Troy Gottselig (203-87) contributed with 13 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. American center Anthony McClain (213-88, college: Cincinnati) replied with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 17 rebounds and 4 blocks for Nitra. Nitra's coach Lubomir Urban rotated ten players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Levice moved-up to third place. Nitra at the other side dropped to the fourth position with three games lost. They share it with Nova Ves. Levice are looking forward to face SKP Banska Bystrica (#6) at home in the next round. Nitra will play against Prievidza and is hoping to win this game. The game in Nova Ves was also worth to mention about. 6th ranked SKP Banska Bystrica (2-3) played at the court of seventh ranked Nova Ves (3-3). Nova Ves managed to secure a 9-point victory 95-86. American power forward Dwight Burke (202-86, college: Marquette) had a double-double by scoring 19 points and 15 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Maurice Acker chipped in 23 points and 9 assists during the contest. Nova Ves' coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The best for the losing side was the former international power forward Peter Dorazil (199-89) with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds. Nova Ves moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Nitra. SKP Banska Bystrica at the other side keeps the sixth position with three games lost. They share it with Prievidza and Handlova. Nova Ves will play against bottom-ranked Svit (#9) at home in the next round where they are favorite. SKP Banska Bystrica will play against Levice and hopes to get back on the winning track.
In the last two games of round 6 Prievidza beat Handlova on the road 83-79. Komarno won against Svit on its own court 86-74. The most impressive performance of 6th round was 22 points, 19 rebounds and 4 blocks by Kevin Thompson of Komarno.

But Handlova won fourth quarter 33-29. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Strangely Handlova outrebounded Prievidza 35-23 including 26 on the defensive glass. Handlova was plagued by 30 personal fouls down the stretch. American players dominated the game. point guard Paul Gause (180-86, college: Seton Hall, agency: I.D.S. Law) scored 21 points to lead the charge for the winners and forward Joseph Harris (196-87, college: Co.Carolina) chipped in 17 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was swingman Jason Davis (196-85, college: Sacramento St.) with 18 points and 9 rebounds and center Zack Crimmins (213-89, college: Columbia) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds. Four Handlova players scored in double figures. Defending champion moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Handlova and B.Bystrica. Prievidza will play against higher ranked Nitra (#4) in Nitra in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Handlova will have a break next round. We should have fought more for the win," said Peter Sedmak (207-C-85), forward of BK Inter Bratislava who was leading the team. Komarno also made huge part of win in defense. "The key to our play in the second half was our intensity on defense. We played at a high level on defense and that lead to easy fast break points and easy offense," claimed Amin Stevens (198-F-90, college: Florida A&M) of Komarno, the only player reaching double-double in game one. The important thing about game two, Inter will field Martin Rancik (204-F/C-78, college: Iowa St.) who did not play because of ban (three technical fouls in the season). "Rancik is very good player.
