Extraliga top team - Komarno (6-1) had no problems winning another game on Wednesday. This time they beat sixth ranked Handlova (2-4) 88-70. The game without a history. Komarno led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Handlova's 36. Komarno forced 20 Handlova turnovers and outrebounded them 38-26 including 24 on the defensive glass. American forward Kevin Thompson (205-F-89, college: Morgan St.) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds. The other American import point guard Chris Lowe (182-87, college: Massachusetts, agency: KMG Sports Management) contributed with 17 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. International Roman Vido (204-88) replied with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds for Handlova. Handlova's coach Tibor Jany rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Komarno have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 6-1 record. Handlova at the other side keeps the sixth place with four games lost. They share the position with Prievidza. Komarno will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Handlova will play on the road against Nova Ves (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
The game in Banska Bystrica was also worth to mention about. Fourth ranked Nitra (5-3) played at the court of 7th ranked SKP Banska Bystrica (2-5). Nitra did not have too big problems and got a relatively easy victory 102-85. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international center Branislav Tomek (205-83) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 21 points and 15 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) and J.R. Cadot who added 16 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists during the contest. point guard Branislav Koczkas (178-82) responded with 22 points. SKP Banska Bystrica's coach tested ten players seeing no chance for a win. Nitra maintains fourth position with 5-3 record. SKP Banska Bystrica lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the eighth place with five games lost. Nitra will play against bottom-ranked Svit (#9) at home in the next round where they are favorite. SKP Banska Bystrica will play against Prievidza and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

In the last two games of round 8 Levice beat Svit on the road 69-65. Inter Bratislava won against Nova Ves on its own court 77-61.

B.Bystrica - Nitra 85-102

The game in Banska Bystrica was also worth to mention about. Fourth ranked Nitra (5-3) played at the court of 7th ranked SKP Banska Bystrica (2-5). Nitra did not have too big problems and got a relatively easy victory 102-85. The game was mostly controlled by Nitra. SKP Banska Bystrica was better in second period 22-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Nitra had a 27-15 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Nitra especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.0 percentage. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international center Branislav Tomek (205-83) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 21 points and 15 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) and Bahamas guard J.R. Cadot (195-87, college: TCU) who added 16 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists during the contest. point guard Branislav Koczkas (178-82) responded with 22 points and Croatian guard Sven Smajlagic (193-90) scored 12 points and 6 rebounds. Svit - Levice 65-69

No shocking result in a game when third ranked Levice (5-2) beat on the road bottom-ranked Svit (1-7) 69-65. It looked good early as Svit took an 1-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Levice had a 18-15 second period charge getting the lead and Svit was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 65-69. Levice made 21-of-25 charity shots (84.0 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of international power forward Jaroslav Moravek (200-92) who helped to win the game recording 9 points and 12 rebounds and international swingman Martin Sykora (192-81) who added 15 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. Levice's coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. American guard Curtis Allen (193-86, college: ORU, agency: TSS Management) responded with 21 points and 5 rebounds and Australian guard Anthony Stewart (196-70) scored 15 points and 6 rebounds. Levice have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Inter Bratislava. Svit lost fourth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with seven games lost. Levice will play against league's second-placed Inter Bratislava at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Svit will play against Nitra (#4) in Nitra to get more than just one victory in their record.

Rather expected game when 5th ranked Nova Ves (4-4) lost on the road to second ranked Inter Bratislava (5-2) 77-61. Nova Ves were ahead by 2 points after three quarters before a 29-11 charge of Inter Bratislava, which allowed them to win the game. They outrebounded Nova Ves 37-25 including 27 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international forward Andrej Kuffa (203-90) who helped to win the game recording 14 points and 6 rebounds and international forward Richard Urland (195-84) who added 11 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. Four Inter Bratislava players scored in double figures. American point guard Maurice Acker (178-87, college: Marquette, agency: Edge Sports) responded with 16 points and 7 assists and Serbian power forward Aco Mandic (204-84) scored 18 points and 6 rebounds. Inter Bratislava maintains second position with 5-2 record behind leader Komarno, which they share with Levice. Nova Ves at the other side keep the fifth place with four games lost.
