29-year old center Branislav Tomek (205-C-83) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Nitra and receives a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 8.
He had a double-double of 21 points and 15 rebounds, while his team crushed B.Bystrica (#8, 2-5) with 17-point margin 102-85. Nitra maintains the 4th position in Slovakian league. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Nitra will need more victories to improve their 5-3 record. Tomek has many years of experience at Nitra, through which he has constantly improved. Tomek has impressive league stats. He is in league's top in rebounds (2nd best: 8.4rpg) and averages solid 69.2% FGP.

Second best performed player last round was Kevin Thompson (205-F-89) of top-ranked Komarno. He is American forward in his first season at Komarno. In the last game Thompson recorded impressive double-double of 21 points and 10 rebounds. Of course he lead Komarno to another comfortable win 88-70 over the lower-ranked Handlova (#7, 2-4) being unquestionably team leader. Of course Komarno still keep the league's top spot. His team lost just one game this season, while they won 6 matches. Thompson is a newcomer at Komarno and quickly became one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 17.9ppg (#2). He also registered 12.0 boards per game.

Third place about best performers goes to another Komarno's star - guard Chris Lowe (182-PG-87, agency: KMG Sports Management). Lowe showcased his all-around game by recording 17 points, seven rebounds and five assists in the last round. He was another key player of Komarno, helping his team with a 88-70 easy win against the lower-ranked Handlova (#7, 2-4). Komarno confirms their top position in the standings Lowe has a great season in Slovakia. After only 7 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 16.4ppg (5th best) and assists with 5.9apg (best passer).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Roman Vido (204-PF-88) of Handlova - 20 points and 11 rebounds
5. J.R. Cadot (195-G-87) of Nitra - 16 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists
6. Maj Kovacevic (190-G-90) of Nitra - 25 points

10. Martin Sykora (192-G/F-81) of Levice - 15 points and 8 rebounds

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
