We bring you last week's top performances from Slovakians who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.

   #1. This week's number one is an experienced former international power forward Radoslav Rancik (207-79, agency: Beo Basket, college: St.Cloud St., currently plays in Czech Republic). He led CEZ Nymburk to a 3-point victory over the sixth-ranked BK Prostejov (6-5) 76-73 in the Czech Republic NBL in Saturday night's game. Rancik was MVP of the game. He scored 21 points and grabbed 6 rebounds (was perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line) in 30 minutes on the court. CEZ Basketball Nymburk (11-0) is placed first in the NBL. So far his team won all eleven games in the Regular Season. Rancik has relatively good stats this year: 11.8ppg, 5.7rpg, 1.5apg, 1.7spg, 2FGP: 48.6%, 3FGP: 42.9% and FT: 85.0% in the six games he played so far. Former BK Inter Bratislava starter played for the Slovakian senior national team two years ago.

   #2. Second place goes to an international forward Pavol Losonsky (203-88, college: Cal-Irvine, currently plays in United Kingdom). He led Leicester Riders to a 3-point victory over the fifth-ranked Plymouth Raiders (5-3) 83-80 in the British BBL last Saturday. Losonsky was the best player in that game. He recorded 22 points and grabbed 5 rebounds; quite an impressive performance considering it's only Losonsky's second season in pro basketball. Jelson Homes DMU Leicester City Riders (10-1) is placed first in the BBL. But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen. It's Losonsky's first year with the team. He has individually a very good season with high stats. Losonsky averages: 15.6ppg, 7.0rpg, 1.8apg, 2FGP: 50.4%, 3FGP: 37.5% and FT: 66.7%. He is in the roster of the Slovakian senior national team.

Anton Gavel

   #3. The Slovakian player who performed third best last week abroad was an international point guard Anton Gavel (188-84, agency: Pro One Sports, currently plays in Euroleague), who plays in Germany. Gavel could not help Brose Baskets Bamberg (2-4) in their last game. Despite his good performance the fourth-placed Brose Baskets Bamberg was badly defeated 86-66 on the road by the leading Regal FC Barcelona in the group D of Euroleague. Gavel scored 11 points in 29 minutes. There are only four games left until the end of the Euroleague Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. Gavel is one of the most experienced players in a team as it's his fourth year in Brose Baskets Bamberg's roster. This season he has relatively solid stats: 11.3ppg, 1.8rpg, 2.3apg, 1.2spg, 2FGP: 57.1%(16-28), 3FGP: 36.0% and FT: 69.2% in the six games. Gavel is also a member of the Slovakian senior national team.

   #4. Power forward Justin Sedlak (205-87, college: Florida Tech, currently plays in Sweden) was not able to help Solna Vikings (6-5) in their game against Boras Basket (9-2) in the Swedish Basketligan. Despite his very good performance on Tuesday night Sedlak recorded a double-double by scoring 17 points and getting 10 rebounds. He also added 4 assists and 2 blocks. But the season is still in it's first stage and everything can happen. It's Sedlak's first year with the team. Sedlak has reliable stats this season: 14.4ppg and 5.8rpg. He used to play for the Slovakian national team back in 2010.

   #5. International center Peter Sedmak (207-85, currently plays in Czech Republic) led BK Decin to a victory over the ninth-ranked Basketbal Svitavy (3-8) 79-62 in the Czech Republic NBL in Saturday night's game. Sedmak was the top player that evening. He scored 15 points in 21 minutes. BK Decin (6-4) is placed fourth in the NBL. Sedmak's stats this year are: 14.6ppg, 5.5rpg and 1.3apg in the 10 games. He used to play for the Slovakian national team last year.

   #6. Swingman Martin Sykora (192-81, currently plays in Czech Republic) was not able to secure a victory for Levice (5-6) in their game against BK Usti nad Labem (3-8) in the Czech Republic NBL. Despite his good performance last Saturday Sykora was the second best scorer with 12 points. He also added 7 rebounds. Sykora's overall stats this season are: 6.6ppg and 3.6rpg. He is an international player who is currently on the senior Slovakian National Team roster.

   #7. International small forward Dusan Pandula (196-84, currently plays in Czech Republic) contributed to a BK Prostejov's victory against the closely-ranked USK Praha (6-5) 86-75 in the Czech Republic NBL on Saturday night. Pandula scored 9 points, had 5 rebounds and dished 5 assists in 26 minutes. BK Prostejov (6-5) is placed sixth in the NBL. This year Pandula's overall stats are: 9.8ppg, 4.2rpg and 2.0apg in the 11 games. He is also Slovakian national team player.

   #8. Shooting guard Roman Marko (194-86, currently plays in Czech Republic) is a teammate of previously mentioned Dusan Pandula and both played together in the last Czech Republic NBL game. Marko helped BK Prostejov win their game against the closely-ranked USK Praha (6-5) 86-75. He scored 10 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. It's Marko's first season with the team. Marko's total stats this year are: 7.2ppg, 3.5rpg and 1.8apg. He plays currently for the Slovakian national team.

Former U20 international forward Richard Lesko (204-81, college: Ill.-Chicago, currently plays in Czech Republic) couldn't help Basketbal Svitavy (3-8) in their game against BC Kolin (7-4) in the Czech Republic NBL. Lesko scored 8 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 24 minutes. Basketbal Svitavy lost 70-76 in Kolin to the higher-ranked (#3) BC Kolin. This year Lesko's total stats are: 6.8ppg and 3.2rpg in the nine games. He used to play for the Slovakian U20 national team thirteen years ago.

   #10. Center Martin Miklosik (225-86, currently plays in Czech Republic) couldn't help B&W Opava (2-8) in their game against NH Ostrava (10-1) in the Czech Republic NBL. He scored 8 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. B&W Opava was badly defeated 92-75 at home by the second-ranked NH Ostrava. It was B&W Opava's third consecutive loss in a row. Miklosik belongs to league's best blockers and is ranked #3. He has averaged so far 6.4ppg, 5.6rpg and 1.5bpg. Worth to mention Miklosik played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped him get the job in pro basketball. Miklosik is a former international player as two years ago he still played for the Slovakian senior national team.

   #11. U20 international center Boris Bojanovsky (221-93, currently plays college basketball in the States) managed to help Florida State University in a victory against the Brigham Young University 88-70 in the NCAA in Friday night's game. He scored only 4 points and blocked 2 shots in 18 minutes. Bojanovsky has averaged so far 6.4ppg, 5.6rpg and 1.5bpg in the 10 games. He plays currently for the Slovakian U20 national team.


The list of other players, who all have Slovakian passport but never been selected to any of Slovakian national teams:

   #1. Darius Silinskis (216-C-84, agency: Interperformances, currently plays in Baltic League), who plays in Lithuania could not help Nevezis (3-4) in their last game on Saturday. Despite his very good performance Nevezis (#4) was defeated 72-68 at home by the leading Rudupis in the group C of Baltic League. Silinskis was the top scorer with 17 points. He also added 6 rebounds, passed 4 assists and added 2 blocks. There are only three games left until the end of the Baltic League Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. Silinskis is currently second on the list of best blockers. His overall stats this season are: 7.0ppg, 5.3rpg and 1.7bpg.

   #2. Peter Simek (205-C-88, agency: Dynamics Global Management, college: Cal-Irvine, currently plays in United Kingdom) contributed to a Surrey Heat's victory against the league leader Leicester Riders (10-1) 81-74 in the British BBL last Sunday. Simek recorded 9 points, 12 rebounds and 3 blocks in 33 minutes. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Surrey Heat (7-1) is placed third in the BBL. It was his team's fifth consecutive victory in a row. But the season just started, so everything may happen. It's Simek's first year with the team. This season his overall stats are: 5.8ppg and 4.6rpg in the eight games he played so far.

   #3. Lukas Varga (183-G-85, college: Coker, currently plays in Denmark) managed to help Horsens IC to win against the league leader SISU (8-0) 81-69 in the Danish Ligaen last Sunday. Varga recorded only 4 points. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Horsens IC (9-3) is placed third in the Ligaen. It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. Varga has averaged so far 4.0ppg, 1.4rpg, 1.8apg and 1.3spg. He has a dual citizenship: German and Slovakian.

   #4. Experienced Stefan Svitek (203-F/C-77, currently plays in Luxembourg) helped Basket Esch win their game against the closely-ranked Musel Pikes (4-5) 82-69 in the Luxembourg Diekirch League on Saturday night. Svitek scored 9 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in 34 minutes. Basket Esch (1-5) is placed seventh in the Diekirch League. Svitek belongs to league's best rebounders and is ranked #5 with 10.5rpg. This year his other stats are: 16.1ppg, 1.5apg and 1.1spg in the eight games.

   #5. Filip Kramer (200-SF-92, currently plays in Austria) was not able to help one of league's weakest teams Kapfenberg Bulls (3-3) in their game against Gmunden Swans (3-3) in the Austrian A Bundesliga. Kramer cannot count Monday's game as one of the best ones. He recorded only 3 points. Kapfenberg Bulls was defeated 98-93 on the road by the higher-ranked Gmunden Swans (#6). Kramer has averaged so far 3.2ppg and 3.3rpg. He is another player who holds two passports: Slovakian and Austrian.

Brandon Holcomb (ex Fondi Oasi) agreed terms with MBK Zilina - 4 days ago
Newly promoted MBK ZU Zilina (SBL) strengthened their roster with addition of 24-year old American center Brandon Holcomb (201-98kg-93, college: Radford). He played most recently at Fondi Oasi in Italian Serie C Gold. In 21 games he recorded 13.6ppg and 1.8apg last season. BC Prievidza (SBL) agreed terms with 26-year old British-Jamaican forward Ryan Martin (206-102kg-91, college: Tenn Tech). He played last season at STB Le Havre in French ProB. In 21 games he had 6.4ppg and 3.6rpg. Martin also played that season for Provence Basket (also in ProB) where in 16 games he recorded 4.1ppg and 3.3rpg.
