Traditionally, every week we bring you a list of the top performances of Slovakians who are currently playing abroad.

   #1. This week's number one is an experienced former international power forward Radoslav Rancik (207-79, agency: Beo Basket, college: St.Cloud St., currently plays in VTB United League), who plays in Czech Republic. He could not help CEZ Nymburk (2-4) in their last game. Despite Rancik's very good performance the eighth-placed CEZ Nymburk was edged 83-81 at home by the higher-ranked (#4) VEF Riga in the group B of VTB United League. He was the top scorer with 20 points. Rancik also added 6 rebounds and dished 3 assists in 24 minutes on the court. But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen. It's Rancik's first year with the team. He has individually a very good season with high stats. Rancik averages: 15.3ppg, 3.7rpg, 1.3apg, 1.3spg, 2FGP: 56.3%(9-16), 3FGP: 43.8% in the three games he played so far. Former BK Inter Bratislava starter played for the Slovakian senior national team two years ago.

Anton Gavel

   #2. Second place goes to an international point guard Anton Gavel (188-84, agency: Pro One Sports, currently plays in Euroleague), who plays in Germany. He was not able to help Brose Baskets Bamberg (2-5) in their last game on Friday. Despite Gavel's very good performance Brose Baskets Bamberg (#4) was defeated 83-72 on the road by the higher-ranked Besiktas (#3) in the group D of Euroleague. He was the top scorer with 21 points. Gavel also added 3 assists. There are only three games left until the end of the Euroleague Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. Gavel is one of the most experienced players in a team as it's his fourth year in Brose Baskets Bamberg's roster. He has relatively good stats this season: 12.7ppg, 1.7rpg, 2.4apg, 1.1spg, 2FGP: 57.6%(19-33), 3FGP: 45.2%(14-31) and FT: 69.2%. Gavel is in the roster of the Slovakian senior national team.

   #3. The Slovakian player who performed third best last week abroad was an international forward Pavol Losonsky (203-88, college: Cal-Irvine, currently plays in United Kingdom). He led Leicester Riders to a victory over the eighth-ranked Durham Wildcats (3-7) crushing them 91-68 in the British BBL on Saturday night. Losonsky was MVP of the game. He scored 22 points, had 7 rebounds and dished 3 assists in 27 minutes; quite an impressive performance considering it's only Losonsky's second season in pro basketball. Jelson Homes DMU Leicester City Riders (11-1) is placed first in the BBL. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. But the season just started, so everything may happen. It's Losonsky's first year with the team. He has very impressive stats this season: 16.2ppg, 7.0rpg, 1.9apg, 2FGP: 51.2%, 3FGP: 41.2% and FT: 70.7% in the 11 games. Losonsky is also a member of the Slovakian senior national team.

   #4. Center Peter Sedmak (207-85, currently plays in Czech Republic), who plays in the Czech Republic NBL was not able to secure a victory for BK Decin (6-5) in their last game on Saturday. Despite his very good performance BK Decin was defeated 79-67 in Opava by the lower-ranked B&W Opava (#9). Sedmak was the top scorer with 23 points. He also added 4 rebounds and 3 assists. This season Sedmak has very high stats. He averages: 15.4ppg, 5.4rpg and 1.5apg. Sedmak used to play for the Slovakian national team last year.

Dusan Pandula

   #5. International small forward Dusan Pandula (196-84, currently plays in Czech Republic) was the major contributor in a BK Prostejov's victory against the league outsider BK Lions Hradec (2-10) 106-92 in the Czech Republic NBL last Saturday. He had a double-double by scoring 20 points and getting 10 rebounds. Pandula also added 3 assists in 31 minutes. BK Prostejov (7-5) is placed third in the NBL. This year Pandula has relatively solid stats: 10.7ppg, 4.7rpg and 2.1apg in the 12 games. He plays currently for the Slovakian national team.

   #6. Shooting guard Roman Marko (194-86, currently plays in Czech Republic) is a teammate of previously mentioned Dusan Pandula and both played together in the last Czech Republic NBL game. Marko contributed to a BK Prostejov's victory against the league outsider BK Lions Hradec (2-10) 106-92. He recorded 8 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists in 28 minutes. This year Marko's overall stats are: 7.3ppg, 3.6rpg and 2.1apg in the 12 games. He is an international player who is currently on the senior Slovakian National Team roster.

   #7. Former international power forward Justin Sedlak (205-87, college: Florida Tech, currently plays in Sweden) helped Solna Vikings win their game against the closely-ranked Sodertalje Kings (7-4) 86-80 in the Swedish Basketligan on Saturday night. Sedlak recorded 12 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in a mere 17 minutes. Solna Vikings (7-6) is placed seventh in the Basketligan. Sedlak has reliable stats this year: 13.7ppg and 5.6rpg in the 10 games. He used to play for the Slovakian national team two years ago.

   #8. Swingman Martin Sykora (192-81, currently plays in Czech Republic) helped Levice win their game against the closely-ranked BK Decin (6-5) 80-77 in the Czech Republic NBL last Saturday. He scored 7 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 27 minutes. Astrum Levice (6-6) is placed eighth in the NBL. This year Sykora's total stats are: 6.3ppg and 3.8rpg in the 12 games. He plays currently for the Slovakian national team.

   #9. Former U20 international forward Richard Lesko (204-81, college: Ill.-Chicago, currently plays in Czech Republic) couldn't help Basketbal Svitavy (3-9) in their game against BC Kolin (7-5) in the Czech Republic NBL. Lesko scored 8 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. Basketbal Svitavy was defeated 76-70 in Kolin by the much higher-ranked BC Kolin (#4). It was Basketbal Svitavy's third consecutive loss in a row. It's Lesko's first season with the team. He has averaged so far 6.3ppg and 3.2rpg. Lesko used to play for the Slovakian U20 national team thirteen years ago.

   #10. Center Martin Miklosik (225-86, currently plays in Czech Republic) faced previously mentioned Peter Sedmak in the Czech Republic NBL last game. Miklosik managed to help BK Breda & Weinstein Opava in a victory against the closely-ranked BK Decin (6-5) 79-67. He recorded only 4 points and blocked 4 blocks in 13 minutes. Miklosik is currently second on the league's list of best blockers with 1.7bpg. He also averaged so far 5.9ppg and 5.0rpg in the 12 games. Worth to mention he played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped him get the job in pro basketball. Miklosik is a former international player as two years ago he still played for the Slovakian senior national team.

   #11. U20 international center Boris Bojanovsky (221-93, currently plays college basketball in the States) helped Florida St. win their game against the University of North Florida 75-67 in the NCAA last Wednesday. He recorded only 2 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. Bojanovsky has averaged so far 5.9ppg and 5.0rpg. He plays currently for the Slovakian U20 national team.

   #12. U20 international forward Viktor Juricek (208-93, currently studies in the States) couldn't help the S.Alabama in their game against the Monmouth University in the NCAA. Juricek cannot count Tuesday's game as one of the best ones. He scored only 2 points. His team was edged 73-71. This season Juricek has very high stats. He averages: 15.8ppg, 10.0rpg, 1.8apg and 1.2spg. Juricek is also in the roster of the Slovakian U20 national team.


The list of other players, who all have Slovakian passport but never been selected to any of Slovakian national teams:

   #1. Darius Silinskis (216-C-84, agency: Interperformances, currently plays in Baltic League), who plays in Lithuania could not help Nevezis (3-4) in their last game on Saturday. Despite Silinskis' very good performance Nevezis (#4) was defeated 72-68 at home by the leading Rudupis in the group C of Baltic League. He was the top scorer with 17 points. Silinskis also added 6 rebounds, passed 4 assists and added 2 blocks. There are only three games left until the end of the Baltic League Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. Silinskis belongs to league's best blockers and is ranked #2. His overall stats this season are: 7.0ppg, 5.3rpg and 1.7bpg.

   #2. Peter Simek (205-C-88, agency: Dynamics Global Management, college: Cal-Irvine, currently plays in United Kingdom) managed to help Surrey Heat to win against the league outsider Liverpool Mersey Tigers (0-10) crushing them 74-54 in the British BBL last Friday. Simek scored 5 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. Surrey Heat (8-2) is placed third in the BBL. But the season is still in it's first stage and everything can happen. It's Simek's first year with the team. His total stats this season are: 5.5ppg and 4.7rpg.

   #3. Filip Kramer (200-SF-92, currently plays in Austria) led Kapfenberg Bulls to an easy victory against the league outsider Arkadia Lions (0-7) crushing them 98-77 in the Austrian A Bundesliga in Sunday night's game. Kramer scored 14 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. ECE Bulls Kapfenberg (4-3) is placed sixth in the A Bundesliga. It's Kramer's first season with the team. His total stats this year are: 4.7ppg and 3.6rpg. Kramer has a dual citizenship: Slovakian and Austrian. Despite his Slovakian passport, Kramer currently plays for the Austrian U20 national team and is not eligible to play for the Slovakian team.

   #4. Experienced Stefan Svitek (203-F/C-77, currently plays in Luxembourg) led Basket Esch to an easy victory against the league outsider Black Star (1-9) crushing them 99-72 in the Luxembourg Diekirch League on Sunday night. Svitek scored 13 points, had 6 rebounds and dished 4 assists in 28 minutes. Basket Esch (2-6) is placed seventh in the Diekirch League. Svitek has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 15.8ppg, 10.0rpg, 1.8apg and 1.2spg in the nine games he played so far.

Lukaas Hoferica joins Inter Bratislava - May 16, 2016

BK Inter Incheba Bratislava (SBL) agreed terms with 27-year old forward Lukaas Hoferica (200-89). He moved there from Karlovka (SBL) where he played this season. In 34 games he had 11.3ppg, 5.9rpg and 1.3apg. The last season Hoferica played also at Karlovka. In 39 SBL games he recorded 12.3ppg, 6.7rpg and 1.6apg. Prievidza - Rieker KN 101-79 Prievidza are the new SBL champions. They beat Rieker Komarno to earn the first League title since 2012. Prievidza led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. 28 personal fouls committed by Rieker KN helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities.
