Ninth-ranked Svit (3-11) gave a tough game to first ranked Komarno (11-2) on Saturday. The visitors from Komarno managed to secure only three-point victory 89-86. However their fans expected much easier game. The guests trailed by 1 point after three quarters before their 28-24 charge, which allowed them to win the game. 25 personal fouls committed by Svit helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a great evening for international swingman Martin Bilik (194-87) who led his team to a victory scoring 19 points and 8 rebounds. American forward Amin Stevens (198-90, college: Florida A&M) helped adding 16 points and 7 rebounds. Komarno's coach Frantisek Ron used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. The best for the losing side was American forward Kenneth Henderson (201-82, college: Texas Arlington) with 23 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Komarno have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain first place with 11-2 record. Svit at the other side stay at the bottom position with 11 games lost. Komarno are looking forward to face Inter Bratislava (#6) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Svit will play against Nova Ves and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
Very important is a road loss of second ranked Levice (9-4) against fourth ranked Nitra (9-5) on Saturday night. Visiting Levice was defeated by Nitra in a tough game in Nitra 81-87. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Levice. It was an exceptional evening for Bahamas guard J.R. Cadot (195-87, college: TCU) who led the winners and scored 25 points and 5 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). Branislav Tomek accounted for 14 points and 7 rebounds. American guard Brandon Fields (193-88, college: Nevada) came up with 22 points (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) for Levice in the defeat. Levice's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Nitra moved-up to third place. Levice at the other side keeps the second position with four games lost. Nitra will play against Prievidza (#5) at home in the next round. Levice will play against SKP Banska Bystrica and hopes to get back on the winning track.

Loser Nova Ves keep the fourth position with six games lost. SKP Banska Bystrica will meet at home league's second-placed Levice in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Nova Ves will play against Svit and hope to secure a win.

In the last game of round 15 Handlova lost to Prievidza on the opponent's court 78-92.


B.Bystrica - Nova Ves 93-77

Nova Ves (#4) were upset in Banska Bystrica by eighth ranked SKP Banska Bystrica 93-77. The game was mostly controlled by SKP Banska Bystrica. Nova Ves managed to win third quarter 21-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. SKP Banska Bystrica made 20-of-23 free shots (87.0 percent) during the game. SKP Banska Bystrica outrebounded Nova Ves 36-20 including a 27-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American forward Noah Dahlman (199-89, college: Wofford) who scored 27 points and 8 rebounds (perfect from the field making all nine shots !!!). His fellow American import point guard Brockeith Pane (188-88, college: Utah St.) chipped in 20 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was American point guard Maurice Acker (178-87, college: Marquette) who recorded 23 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists and international forward Stanislav Baldovsky (192-89) added 16 points respectively. SKP Banska Bystrica (4-9) moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Handlova. Loser Nova Ves keep the fourth position with six games lost. Very important is a road loss of second ranked Levice (9-4) against fourth ranked Nitra (9-5) on Saturday night. Visiting Levice was defeated by Nitra in a tough game in Nitra 81-87. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Levice. Levice was ahead by 2 points after three quarters before a 29-21 charge of Nitra, which allowed them to win the game. They also forced 26 Levice turnovers. Levice was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. It was an exceptional evening for Bahamas guard J.R. Cadot (195-87, college: TCU) who led the winners and scored 25 points and 5 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). The former international center Branislav Tomek (205-83) accounted for 14 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side. Prievidza - Handlova 92-78

The game between closely ranked teams ended with 7th ranked Handlova's (4-9) road loss to sixth ranked Prievidza (6-7) 78-92 on Saturday. The game without a history. Prievidza led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 52.2 percentage. The best player for the winners was American forward Joseph Harris (196-87, college: Co.Carolina) who scored 20 points and 7 rebounds. International guard Milan Ziak (190-88) chipped in 21 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). At the other side the best for losing team was American center Zack Crimmins (213-89, college: Columbia) who recorded 20 points and 8 rebounds and international Roman Vido (204-88) added 18 points respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Defending champion moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Inter Bratislava. Loser Handlova keeps the seventh position with nine games lost. They share it with B.Bystrica. Prievidza will meet higher ranked Nitra (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Handlova will have a break next round.

MBK Handlova (SBL) signed 29-year old Serbian center Bojan Stanojevic (203-88). It is actually his comeback to MBK Handlova as he has played here before. Stanojevic played last season at Mladost in Bosnia and Herzegovina Division I. In 25 games he had 14.3ppg, 7.6rpg (#5 in the league) and 2.7apg. Newly promoted MBK ZU Zilina (SBL) strengthened their roster with addition of 24-year old American center Brandon Holcomb (201-98kg-93, college: Radford). He played most recently at Fondi Oasi in Italian Serie C Gold. In 21 games he recorded 13.6ppg and 1.8apg last season.
