Coincidentally all hosts won their games.

The most exciting game of round 20 in the Extraliga took place in Handlova. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of second-ranked Nitra (12-7) to eighth ranked Handlova (5-11) 103-101 on Saturday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Nitra. The hosts trailed by 6 points after three quarters before their 31-23 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Strangely Nitra outrebounded Handlova 39-13 including a 19-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 65.0 percentage. 28 personal fouls committed by Nitra helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was guard Kevin Bridgewaters (175-84, college: Chattanooga, agency: TSS Management) who scored 47 points (!!!) and 5 assists. Center Zack Crimmins (213-89, college: Columbia) chipped in 19 points. Center Anthony McClain (213-88, college: Cincinnati) produced a double-double by scoring 39 points (!!!) and 20 rebounds (on 16-of-21 shooting from the field) for the guests. Handlova maintains eighth position with 5-11 record. Nitra at the other side keeps the second place with seven games lost. Handlova are looking forward to face higher ranked SKP Banska Bystrica (#7) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Nitra will have a break next round.
An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Komarno. First ranked Komarno faced 3rd ranked Nova Ves. Host Komarno (14-3) defeated guests from Nova Ves (11-7) 90-73. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Nova Ves. International swingman Martin Bilik (194-87) orchestrated the victory by scoring 15 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Kevin Thompson contributed with 17 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Komarno's coach Frantisek Ron allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American point guard Maurice Acker (178-87, college: Marquette) replied with 20 points for Nova Ves. Komarno maintains first position with 14-3 record. Nova Ves at the other side keep the third place with seven games lost. Komarno will play against Levice (#4) on the road in the next round. Nova Ves will play against Prievidza and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Bottom-ranked Svit managed to get a fourth victory, breaking the five-game losing streak on Saturday night. This time they won against fifth-ranked Prievidza 71-65. The game was also dominated by American players. Worth to mention a great performance of Tyronne McNeal who helped to win the game recording 19 points and 6 rebounds. Joseph Harris responded with 15 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Svit maintains ninth position with 4-15 record. Defending champion Prievidza keeps the fifth place with nine games lost. Svit will meet at home higher ranked Inter Bratislava (#6) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Prievidza will play against Nova Ves and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Inter Bratislava - B.Bystrica 84-65

The game with biggest result difference took place in Bratislava. Local Inter Bratislava (8-10) outscored 7th ranked SKP Banska Bystrica (7-11) 84-65. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of SKP Banska Bystrica. The game was mostly controlled by Inter Bratislava. SKP Banska Bystrica was better in fourth quarter 27-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Inter Bratislava maintains sixth position with 8-10 record. SKP Banska Bystrica at the other side keeps the seventh place with 11 games lost. Inter Bratislava's next round opponent will be bottom-ranked Svit (#9) on the road. SKP Banska Bystrica will play against Handlova and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Komarno - Nova Ves 90-73

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Komarno. First ranked Komarno faced 3rd ranked Nova Ves. Host Komarno (14-3) defeated guests from Nova Ves (11-7) 90-73. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Nova Ves. It looked good early as Nova Ves took an 1-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Komarno had a 25-15 second period charge getting the lead and Nova Ves were not able to take back game control losing it eventually 73-90. Komarno players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. International swingman Martin Bilik (194-87) orchestrated the victory by scoring 15 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. American forward Kevin Thompson (205-89, college: Morgan St.) contributed with 17 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Four Komarno players scored in double figures. Komarno's coach Frantisek Ron allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American point guard Maurice Acker (178-87, college: Marquette) replied with 20 points and Serbian power forward Aco Mandic (204-84) added 15 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Nova Ves. Komarno maintains first position with 14-3 record. Nova Ves at the other side keep the third place with seven games lost. Komarno will play against Levice (#4) on the road in the next round. Nova Ves will play against Prievidza and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Bottom-ranked Svit managed to get a fourth victory, breaking the five-game losing streak on Saturday night. This time they won against fifth-ranked Prievidza 71-65. Prievidza was trailing by 3 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 20-13 charge of Svit, which allowed them to win the game. The game was also dominated by American players. Worth to mention a great performance of center Tyronne McNeal (211-87, college: Miami Dade CC) who helped to win the game recording 19 points and 6 rebounds and forward Kenneth Henderson (201-82, college: Texas Arlington) who added 13 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. McNeal is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Forward Joseph Harris (196-87, college: Co.Carolina) responded with 15 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and guard David Godbold (196-85, college: Oklahoma) produced a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds. Four Prievidza players scored in double figures. Svit maintains ninth position with 4-15 record. Defending champion Prievidza keeps the fifth place with nine games lost. Svit will meet at home higher ranked Inter Bratislava (#6) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
