J.R. Cadot gets MVP of the Week award for Slovakian Extraliga - Dec 28, 2012

J.R. Cadot
Bahamas J.R. Cadot (195-G-87) had a great game in the last round for league's second-best Nitra and that's him to receive a Player of the Week award for round 19.
The 25-year old guard had a double-double of 22 points and twelve rebounds, while his team beat Inter Bratislava (#6, 8-10) 81-75. Nitra maintains the 2nd position in Slovakian Extraliga. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Nitra will need more victories to improve their 12-7 record. Cadot turned to be Nitra's top player in his first season with the team. Texas Christian University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Cadot is in league's top in points (5th best: 16.7ppg), rebounds (9th best: 6.6rpg) and averages solid 56.5% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 25-year old American forward Joseph Harris (196-F-87) of Prievidza. Harris impressed basketball fans with 26 points, 9 rebounds and 3 assists. Of course Prievidza cruised to a 77-69 relatively comfortable win over the higher-ranked Komarno (#1, 14-3). Prievidza's 5th position in the standings has not changed. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 8-9 record. Harris is a newcomer at Prievidza and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 15.9ppg (#6). He also registered 5.7 boards per game.

The third best performed player last round was American Noah Dahlman (199-F-89) of B.Bystrica (#7). Dahlman scored 21 points and grabbed nine rebounds. He was a key player of B.Bystrica, leading his team to a 85-67 easy win against slightly lower-ranked Svit (#9, 4-15). The chances of B.Bystrica not to end season at such low position in the league, however are less than slim as they have already lost 11 games, recording just seven victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Dahlman could try to bring B.Bystrica's a little bit higher in the standings. Dahlman has a very solid season. In 6 games in Slovakia he scored 19.5ppg. He also has 8.3rpg and FGP: 75.0%.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Milan Ziak (190-G-88) of Prievidza - 25 points and 4 rebounds
5. Branislav Tomek (205-C-83) of Nitra - 15 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists
6. Kevin Thompson (205-F-89) of Komarno - 18 points and 11 rebounds
7. A.J. Stewart (205-F-88) of Svit - 18 points and 6 rebounds
8. Chris Lowe (182-PG-87) of Komarno - 16 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists
9. Goran Bulatovic (184-G-88) of Inter Bratislava - 16 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists
10. Stjepan Gavran (206-C-78) of B.Bystrica - 12 points and 5 rebounds

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

Norbert Janicek selected the top Slovakian playing abroad in last week's games - 16 hours ago
We bring you last week's top performances from Slovakians who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level. This week's number one is former U20 international forward Norbert Janicek (211-96), who plays in the NCAA. He could not help the Utah St. (5-8) in their last game. Despite Janicek's very good performance the Utah St. lost 66-77 at home to the The University of Nevada.    [read more]

Blagojevic's 30-point game gives him Player of the Week award - 2 days ago
25-year old swingman Milic Blagojevic (200-G/F-91) had a great game in the last round for Lucenec and receives a Player of the Week award for round 34. He had the game-high 30 points adding nine rebounds for Lucenec in his team's victory, helping them to beat Nova Ves (#10, 6-25) 77-72. Lucenec maintains the 8th position in Slovakian league. Lucenec is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories...   [read more]
