We bring you last week's top performances from Slovakians who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.

   #1. This week's number one is an experienced former international power forward Radoslav Rancik (207-79, agency: Beo Basket, college: St.Cloud St., currently plays in Eurocup). He led his Czech Republic team CEZ Nymburk to a 2-point victory over the third-ranked Gescrap BB (0-1) 85-83 in the Eurocup in Wednesday night's game. Rancik was MVP of the game. He recorded 30 points (!!!) and grabbed 7 rebounds in 35 minutes on the court. CEZ Basketball Nymburk (1-0) is placed first in group J. Rancik has relatively good stats this year: 14.9ppg, 6.6rpg, 2FGP: 44.0%, 3FGP: 46.2%(12-26) in the seven games he played so far. Former BK Inter Bratislava starter played for the Slovakian senior national team three years ago.

   #2. Second place goes to an international point guard Anton Gavel (188-84, agency: Pro One Sports, currently plays in Germany). He was the major contributor in a Brose Baskets Bamberg's victory against the 11th-ranked BBC Bayreuth (8-10) 85-74 in the German BBL last Saturday. Gavel scored 13 points. Brose Baskets Bamberg (14-2) is placed first in the BBL. It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. It's Gavel's fourth season with the team. This year he has relatively solid stats: 13.9ppg, 2.8rpg, 3.2apg, 2FGP: 65.3%(49-75), 3FGP: 42.2% and FT: 81.1%. Gavel is in the roster of the Slovakian senior national team.

   #3. The Slovakian player who performed third best last week abroad was an international forward Pavol Losonsky (203-88, college: Cal-Irvine, currently plays in United Kingdom). He led Leicester Riders to a victory over the ninth-ranked London Lions (7-13) 73-68 in the British BBL on Tuesday night. Losonsky was the best player in that game. He recorded 17 points and grabbed 9 rebounds in 33 minutes; quite an impressive performance considering it's only Losonsky's second season in pro basketball. Jelson Homes DMU Leicester City Riders (14-2) is placed first in the BBL. Losonsky has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 15.1ppg, 6.5rpg, 1.6apg, 2FGP: 50.3% and FT: 71.7% in the 14 games. Losonsky is also a member of the Slovakian senior national team.

Dusan Pandula

   #4. Small forward Dusan Pandula (196-84, currently plays in Czech Republic) contributed to a BK Prostejov's victory against the ninth-ranked Levharti Chomutov (8-13) 102-89 in the Czech Republic NBL in Saturday night's game. He recorded 17 points and had 3 steals. BK Prostejov (13-8) is placed fourth in the NBL. There are only three games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. Pandula has reliable stats this season: 10.9ppg, 4.5rpg and 2.4apg. He is also Slovakian national team player.

   #5. Former international power forward Justin Sedlak (205-87, college: Florida Tech, currently plays in Sweden) helped Solna Vikings win their game against the closely-ranked Boras Basket (14-7) 92-88 in the Swedish Basketligan last Friday. Sedlak scored 16 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in a mere 18 minutes; not bad, considering it's only his second season in pro basketball. Solna Vikings (14-8) is placed fifth in the Basketligan. Sedlak's stats this year are: 13.8ppg and 5.5rpg in the 19 games. He used to play for the Slovakian national team three years ago.

   #6. Center Peter Sedmak (207-85, currently plays in Czech Republic), who plays in the Czech Republic NBL could not help BK Decin (11-9) in their last game on Saturday. Despite Sedmak's good performance BK Decin was defeated 84-69 on the road by the second-ranked NH Ostrava. He was the top scorer with 14 points. There are only three games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game is very crucial. It's Sedmak's first season with the team. Sedmak averaged so far 14.8ppg, 4.4rpg and 1.4apg. He is a former international player as he played for the Slovakian senior team two years ago.

   #7. International shooting guard Roman Marko (194-86, currently plays in Czech Republic) is a teammate of previously mentioned Dusan Pandula. But that was another game of his team in Czech Republic NBL which we would like to mention. Marko helped BK Prostejov win their game against the tenth-ranked Basketbal Svitavy (7-14) 99-95. He scored 10 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 25 minutes. BK Prostejov (13-8) is placed fourth in the NBL. This year Marko's overall stats are: 8.6ppg, 3.7rpg, 2.3apg and 1.1spg in the 21 games. He is also Slovakian national team player.

   #8. Center Boris Bojanovsky (221-93, currently plays college basketball in the States) managed to help Florida State University in a victory against the Clemson University (1-2) 71-66 in the NCAA on Saturday night. Bojanovsky scored only 4 points in 15 minutes. The Florida State University has 2-1 conference record this season. This year Bojanovsky's total stats are: 4.9ppg, 1.6rpg, 1.7apg and 1.2spg in the 18 games. He plays currently for the Slovakian U20 national team.

   #9. Former international center Martin Miklosik (225-86, currently plays in Czech Republic) was not able to help B&W Opava (6-15) in their game against CEZ Nymburk (19-1) in the Czech Republic NBL. Miklosik scored 5 points and grabbed 8 rebounds in 23 minutes. B&W Opava was crushed 89-64 at home by the leading CEZ Nymburk. It was B&W Opava's sixth consecutive loss in a row. There are only three games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be important. Miklosik is ranked third on the list of the best blockers in the league with 1.2bpg. This year he also averages: 5.6ppg and 5.4rpg in the 21 games. Worth to mention he played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped him get the job in pro basketball. Miklosik used to play for the Slovakian national team three years ago.


The list of other players, who all have Slovakian passport but never been selected to any of Slovakian national teams:

   #1. Lukas Varga (183-G-85, college: Coker, currently plays in Denmark) led Horsens IC to a 1-point victory against the closely-ranked Bakken (14-4) 79-78 in the Danish Ligaen last Thursday. Varga scored 11 points. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Horsens IC (14-4) is placed third in the Ligaen. It was his team's fifth consecutive victory in a row. Varga's total stats this season are: 4.9ppg, 1.6rpg, 1.7apg and 1.2spg. He has a dual citizenship: German and Slovakian.

   #2. Peter Simek (205-C-88, agency: Dynamics Global Management, college: Cal-Irvine, currently plays in United Kingdom) managed to help Surrey Heat to win against one of league's weakest teams Durham Wildcats (5-12) 84-76 in the British BBL in Saturday night's game. Simek scored only 4 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. Surrey Heat (13-3) is placed third in the BBL. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. Simek has averaged so far 5.4ppg and 4.4rpg.

   #3. Branislav Brlit (207-C-85, agency: Promotex, currently plays in Czech Republic), who plays in the Czech Republic NBL could not help B&W Opava (6-15) to beat USK Praha (10-12). He cannot count Saturday's game as one of the best ones. Brlit recorded only 2 points. It was his first game for B&W Opava this season. B&W Opava was crushed 75-51 on the road by the higher-ranked USK Praha (#8). It was B&W Opava's sixth consecutive loss in a row. There are only three games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical.

   #4. Experienced Stefan Svitek (203-F/C-77, currently plays in Luxembourg), who plays in the Luxembourg Diekirch League was not able to help Basket Esch (2-10) in their last game. Despite Svitek's good performance Basket Esch lost 68-81 in Bereldange to the higher-ranked (#5) Residence. He recorded 12 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in 35 minutes. It was Basket Esch's fifth consecutive loss in a row. There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. Svitek averaged so far 15.0ppg, 9.2rpg and 1.5apg in the 16 games he played so far.

Avramovic number one in Slovakia for round 5 - 23 hours ago
Serbian Point guard Sasa Avramovic (193-PG-93, agency: BeoBasket) had a very impressive game in the last round for Iskra Svit, receiving a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 5. The 24-year old player was the main contributor (24 points, four rebounds and eight assists) to his team's victory, helping them to crush Rieker KN (#8, 2-3) with 25-point margin 99-74. SBL Round 5: Kosice lose to Levice in the game between Top 4 teams - 2 days ago
After 5 rounds played we can already see who rules in the SBL and who belongs to weaker ones. Coincidentally all hosts won their games. The game between Top Four teams took place in Levice. Third ranked host Levice (4-1) defeated second-ranked Kosice (3-2) 66-51. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Kosice. It was a key game for the top position in the league. KFUM Jamtland Basket(Basketligan)signed the 31year oldWilliam Walker(197-104kg-87, college:Bethel, IN)with a one-month contract. The american forward replaces Brandon Taylor, who's currently getting ready from an injury. Walker played last year at KTP Basket Kotka in finnish Korisliiga and at Inter Bratislava in slovakian SBL where's he helped the club to win the SBL Championship.
