Top ranked Komarno (15-5) recorded its fifth loss on the court of seventh ranked SKP Banska Bystrica on Sunday night. Visitors were defeated by SKP Banska Bystrica 100-87. The game was mostly controlled by SKP Banska Bystrica. Komarno managed to win fourth quarter 31-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. SKP Banska Bystrica dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Komarno's 46. SKP Banska Bystrica forced 21 Komarno turnovers. The best player for the winners was swingman Maros Rendla (195-88) who scored 15 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!). American guard Enique Clemons (180-80, college: Missouri) chipped in 19 points and 5 assists (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). American point guard Chris Lowe (182-87, college: Massachusetts, agency: KMG Sports Management) produced 21 points and 6 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the guests. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. SKP Banska Bystrica maintains seventh place with 9-11 record. Komarno at the other side still keeps top position with five games lost. SKP Banska Bystrica are looking forward to face league's second-placed Levice on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Komarno will play against Inter Bratislava and is hoping to win this game.
Important game to mention about took place in Nitra. Third ranked Nitra (13-8) saved a 2-point victory at home edging 4th placed Nova Ves (11-10) 96-94 in the game for the third place. Bahamas guard J.R. Cadot (195-87, college: TCU) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points, 13 rebounds and 6 assists. Branislav Tomek contributed with 18 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. American point guard Maurice Acker (178-87, college: Marquette) answered with 37 points (!!!), 5 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals for Nova Ves. Nitra maintains third place with 13-8 record having just one points less than leader Komarno. Nova Ves lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the fourth position with ten games lost. Nitra will play against Prievidza (#5) on the road in the next round. Nova Ves will play against Svit and hope to get back on the winning track.
The game in Prievidza was also quite interesting. Third ranked Levice (13-6) played at the court of 5th ranked Prievidza (10-10). Levice managed to secure a 6-point victory 81-75 on Monday. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Prievidza. The game was dominated by American players. It was a great evening for Brandon Fields who led his team to a victory scoring 19 points and 7 assists. Joseph Harris responded with 24 points and 7 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). Levice have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to second place. Defending champion Prievidza keeps the fifth position with ten games lost. Levice will meet at home Handlova (#8) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Prievidza will play against Nitra in Nitra and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Inter Bratislava's next round opponent will be league's leader Komarno on the road and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Handlova will play against the league's second-placed Levice (#2).

The best stats of 23th round was 26 points and 11 rebounds by Dwight Burke of Nova Ves.


Prievidza - Levice 75-81

The game in Prievidza was also quite interesting. Third ranked Levice (13-6) played at the court of 5th ranked Prievidza (10-10). Levice managed to secure a 6-point victory 81-75 on Monday. Inter Bratislava - Handlova 107-72

The game with biggest result difference took place in Bratislava. Local Inter Bratislava (10-11) outscored 8th ranked Handlova (6-13) 107-72. The game without a history. Inter Bratislava led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Inter Bratislava outrebounded Handlova 50-29 including a 19-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. It was a quality performance for the former international power forward Martin Rancik (204-78, college: Iowa St.) who led the winners and scored 37 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds. American guard Justin Graham (193-88, college: San Jose St.) accounted for 14 points and 5 assists for the winning side. Four Inter Bratislava players scored in double figures. American guard Kevin Bridgewaters (175-84, college: Chattanooga, agency: TSS Management) came up with 21 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists and the other American import center Zack Crimmins (213-89, college: Columbia) added 17 points respectively for Handlova in the defeat. Nitra - Nova Ves 96-94

Important game to mention about took place in Nitra. Third ranked Nitra (13-8) saved a 2-point victory at home edging 4th placed Nova Ves (11-10) 96-94 in the game for the third place. It looked good early as Nova Ves took an 2-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Nitra had a 26-18 second period charge getting the lead and Nova Ves were not able to take back game control losing it eventually 94-96. They outrebounded Nova Ves 45-32 including 32 on the defensive glass. Bahamas guard J.R. Cadot (195-87, college: TCU) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points, 13 rebounds and 6 assists. American-Jamaican Power forward Phil Henry (203-PF-91) put on an amazing game in the last round for Nova Ves, receiving a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 42. The 25-year old player had a double-double of 32 points and 11 rebounds, while his team Nova Ves maintains the 10th position in Slovakian SBL.
