Here is the weekly review of the top performing Slovakian players, who play currently abroad.

   #1. This week's number one is an experienced former international power forward Radoslav Rancik (207-79, agency: Beo Basket, college: St.Cloud St., currently plays in Eurocup), who plays in Czech Republic. He could not help CEZ Nymburk (1-1) in their last game. Despite Rancik's very good performance the third-placed CEZ Nymburk lost 77-82 at home to the leading Valencia Basket in the group J of Eurocup. He was the top scorer with 24 points. Rancik also added 5 rebounds and dished 3 assists in 36 minutes on the court. There are only four games left until the end of the Eurocup Top 16. So now every game will be critical. It's Rancik's first season with the team. He has individually a very good year with high stats. Rancik averages: 16.0ppg, 6.4rpg, 1.1apg, 2FGP: 43.1% and FT: 78.9% in the eight games he played so far. Former BK Inter Bratislava starter played for the Slovakian senior national team three years ago.

Dusan Pandula

   #2. Second place goes to an international small forward Dusan Pandula (196-84, currently plays in Czech Republic). He led BK Prostejov to a victory over the closely-ranked BC Kolin (12-10) crushing them 123-86 in the Czech Republic NBL last Saturday. Pandula was MVP of the game. He scored 28 points (!!!), grabbed 4 boards, passed 5 assists and added 4 steals. BK Prostejov (14-8) is placed fourth in the NBL. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game is very crucial. Pandula has relatively good stats this season: 11.7ppg, 4.5rpg, 2.5apg, 1.2spg, 2FGP: 62.7%(64-102), 3FGP: 42.9% and FT: 75.0%. He is in the roster of the Slovakian senior national team.

   #3. The Slovakian player who performed third best last week abroad was an international shooting guard Roman Marko (194-86, currently plays in Czech Republic) is a teammate of previously mentioned Dusan Pandula and both played together in the last Czech Republic NBL game. Marko contributed to an easy victory against the closely-ranked BC Kolin (12-10) crushing them 123-86. He scored 15 points, grabbed 5 boards, passed 5 assists and added 3 steals in 28 minutes. This year Marko's overall stats are: 8.9ppg, 3.8rpg, 2.4apg, 1.2spg, 2FGP: 47.9%, 3FGP: 29.4% and FT: 61.2% in the 22 games. He has a dual citizenship: Slovakian and Czech Republic. Marko is also a member of the Slovakian senior national team.

   #4. Point guard Anton Gavel (188-84, agency: Pro One Sports, currently plays in Euroleague) was not able to help Brose Baskets Bamberg (0-4) in their game against Anadolu Efes (3-1) in the Euroleague. He recorded 5 points. Brose Baskets Bamberg (#7) was badly defeated 94-76 on the road by the higher-ranked Anadolu Efes (#3) in the group E of Euroleague. So far Brose Baskets Bamberg lost all four games in the Top 16. Gavel is one of the most experienced players in a team as it's his fourth year in Brose Baskets Bamberg's roster. This season Gavel has relatively solid stats: 12.8ppg, 1.9rpg and 2.8apg. He is also Slovakian national team player.

   #5. Former international power forward Justin Sedlak (205-87, college: Florida Tech, currently plays in Sweden) contributed to an easy victory against the ninth-ranked KFUM Jamtland (6-16) crushing them 85-65 in the Swedish Basketligan last Friday. Sedlak recorded 13 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 25 minutes. Solna Vikings (15-8) is placed fifth in the Basketligan. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. Sedlak has reliable stats this year: 13.8ppg and 5.5rpg in the 20 games. He used to play for the Slovakian national team three years ago.

   #6. Center Martin Miklosik (225-86, currently plays in Czech Republic), who plays in the Czech Republic NBL was not able to secure a victory for one of league's weakest teams B&W Opava (6-16) in their last game. Despite his good performance B&W Opava lost 83-92 on their home court in Opava to the higher-ranked (#11) BK Lions Hradec. Miklosik scored 12 points and grabbed 8 rebounds in a mere 16 minutes. It was B&W Opava's seventh consecutive loss in a row. There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be important. Miklosik is currently fourth on the league's list of best blockers with 1.1bpg. He also averaged so far 5.9ppg and 5.5rpg in the 22 games. Worth to mention Miklosik played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped him get the job in pro basketball. Miklosik is a former international player as he played for the Slovakian senior team three years ago.

   #7. U20 international center Boris Bojanovsky (221-93, currently plays college basketball in the States) couldn't help the Florida St. (2-2) in their game against the The University of Virginia (2-2) in the NCAA. He recorded only 4 points. The Florida St. was badly defeated 56-36 in Charlottesville, VA by the The University of Virginia. Bojanovsky's total stats this season are: 5.9ppg and 5.5rpg. He is also Slovakian U20 national team player.


The list of other players, who all have Slovakian passport but never been selected to any of Slovakian national teams:

   #1. Lukas Varga (183-G-85, college: Coker, currently plays in Denmark) led Horsens IC to an easy victory against the closely-ranked Vaerlose (7-8) crushing them 95-75 in the Danish Ligaen on Wednesday night. Varga recorded 12 points. Horsens IC (16-4) is placed second in the Ligaen. It was his team's seventh consecutive victory in a row. Varga's total stats this season are: 5.4ppg, 1.5rpg, 1.7apg and 1.2spg. He has a dual citizenship: German and Slovakian.

   #2. Peter Simek (205-C-88, agency: Dynamics Global Management, college: Cal-Irvine, currently plays in United Kingdom), who plays in the British BBL could not help Surrey Heat (13-4) to beat Manchester Giants (7-13). Simek cannot count Friday's game as one of the best ones. He scored only 3 points in 13 minutes. Surrey Heat was badly defeated 85-68 on the road by the lower-ranked (#9) Manchester Giants. It was Surrey Heat's first loss after three consecutive victories. This year Simek's total stats are: 5.3ppg and 4.2rpg in the 15 games he played so far.

   #3. Filip Kramer (200-SF-92, currently plays in Austria) managed to help ECE Bulls Kapfenberg to win against the seventh-ranked Redwell Gunners Oberwart (7-9) 90-89 in the Austrian A Bundesliga in Sunday night's game. He scored only 4 points. ECE Bulls Kapfenberg (13-3) is placed second in the A Bundesliga. It was his team's tenth consecutive victory in a row. There are only four games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. Kramer's total stats this season are: 3.2ppg and 2.1rpg. He is another player who holds two passports: Slovakian and Austrian.

   #4. Branislav Brlit (207-C-85, agency: Promotex, currently plays in Czech Republic) was not able to help B&W Opava (6-16) in their game against USK Praha (10-12) in the Czech Republic NBL. Brlit cannot count Saturday's game as one of the best ones. He recorded only 2 points in 12 minutes. B&W Opava was crushed 75-51 in Praha by the higher-ranked (#8) USK Praha. It was B&W Opava's seventh consecutive loss in a row. There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. This year Brlit averages just 1.0ppg in the two games.

   #5. Experienced Stefan Svitek (203-F/C-77, currently plays in Luxembourg) was not able to secure a victory for Basket Esch (2-11) in their game against Musel Pikes (12-1) in the Luxembourg Diekirch League. He scored 6 points, grabbed 6 rebounds and dished 3 assists. Basket Esch was defeated 75-64 at home by the leading Musel Pikes. It was Basket Esch's sixth consecutive loss in a row. Svitek's team will play only one more game in the Regular Season. Svitek averaged so far 14.5ppg, 9.0rpg and 1.6apg.
  



SBL Round 25: Inter Bratislava beats Iskra Svit by two after a very close game - 13 hours ago
Host teams show no mercy winning all games. Fifth-ranked Iskra Svit (12-11) was very close to win a game against second ranked Inter Bratislava (18-5) on Saturday. Inter Bratislava managed to secure only two-point victory 89-87. However their fans expected easier game. Inter Bratislava shot 66.0 percent from the field. We bring you last week's top performances from Slovakians who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level. Kyle Kuric (193-G/F-89) could not help one of league's weakest teams Gran Canaria (0-2) in their last game. Newly promoted MBK Handlova (SBL) inked experienced 38-year old Serbian power forward Slobodan Bozovic (207-79). He started the season at Smederevo 1953 in Serbian KLS league. In 10 games he averaged 7.8ppg, 4.4rpg and 1.0spg this season. The most of last season Bozovic spent at Iskra Svit where in 18 SBL games he had 9.2ppg, 5.4rpg, 2.1apg and 1.2spg.
