Inter Bratislava (#6) forced the game against Nova Ves (#4) into an overtime, but lost by five points 87-92 on Wednesday night. The game took place in Bratislava. But the guests from Nova Ves were better at the end. Maurice Acker stepped up with a double-double by scoring 31 points and 11 assists for the winners. Inter Bratislava's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Nova Ves maintains fourth place with 12-11 record. Inter Bratislava at the other side dropped to the seventh position with 13 games lost. Nova Ves will face Handlova (#8) at home in the next round. Inter Bratislava will play against the league's second-placed Levice.

B.Bystrica - Nitra 94-82

There was an upset when 3rd placed Nitra (14-9) was defeated on the road by seventh ranked SKP Banska Bystrica (10-12) 94-82 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by SKP Banska Bystrica. Nitra was better in second period 22-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a great shooting night for SKP Banska Bystrica especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 61.5 percentage. Croatian guard Sven Smajlagic (193-90) stepped up and scored 20 points for the winners and American guard Enique Clemons (180-80, college: Missouri) chipped in 7 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists. Four SKP Banska Bystrica players scored in double figures. SKP Banska Bystrica's coach Ivan Kurilla used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side American point guard Deremy Geiger (180-90, college: Idaho) responded with 24 points and Bahamas guard J.R. Cadot (195-87, college: TCU) scored 18 points and 5 rebounds. SKP Banska Bystrica moved-up to sixth place. Nitra at the other side keeps the third position with nine games lost. SKP Banska Bystrica will face higher ranked Prievidza (#5) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Nitra will play against Svit.

Svit - Levice 81-84

Very predictable result when second ranked Levice (16-6) edged on the road bottom-ranked Svit (5-18) 84-81 on Wednesday. Svit was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Americans were the main players on the court. Guard Willie Kemp (188-87, college: Memphis) stepped up and scored 20 points and 5 assists for the winners and guard Brandon Fields (193-88, college: Nevada) chipped in 19 points and 4 assists. Five Levice players scored in double figures. At the losing side guard Ravone George (193-83, college: Alabama) responded with 24 points and 6 rebounds and swingman Sean Smith (201-85, college: N.Illinois) scored 18 points. Levice have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain second place with 16-6 record behind leader Komarno. Svit at the other side stay at the bottom position with 18 games lost. Levice will face Inter Bratislava (#7) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Svit will play against Nitra in Nitra.

However that was Nova Ves who were better in overtime eventually winning that period 17-12. They made 21-of-27 free shots (77.8 percent) during the game. American point guard Maurice Acker (178-87, college: Marquette) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 31 points and 11 assists for the winners and Serbian power forward Aco Mandic (204-84) chipped in 19 points and 8 rebounds. At the losing side the former international power forward Martin Rancik (204-78, college: Iowa St.) responded with 23 points and 8 rebounds and American guard David Kyles (190-89, college: Wichita St.) scored 18 points and 5 rebounds. Five Nova Ves and four Inter Bratislava players scored in double figures. Inter Bratislava's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Not a big story in a game when 8th ranked Handlova (6-15) was defeated at home by first ranked Komarno (17-5) 91-82 on Wednesday. The game without a history. Komarno led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Komarno outrebounded Handlova 49-34 including a 35-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. Handlova was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. American forward Kevin Thompson (205-89, college: Morgan St.) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 19 rebounds for the winners and his fellow American import point guard Chris Lowe (182-87, college: Massachusetts, agency: KMG Sports Management) chipped in 13 points and 7 assists. Five Komarno players scored in double figures. At the losing side American center Zack Crimmins (213-89, college: Columbia) responded with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 10 rebounds and international Roman Vido (204-88) scored 22 points and 9 rebounds. Komarno maintains first place with 17-5 record. Handlova lost third consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with 15 games lost. Komarno will have a break next round. Handlova will play on the road against Nova Ves (#4).

Coincidentally all hosts won their games. Leader Inter Bratislava delivered the twelfth win on Saturday night. This time they beat bottom-ranked Nova Ves (0-14) 80-64. Inter Bratislava dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Nova Ves' 22. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. Serbian Shooting guard Strahinja Stojacic (197-SG-92) had a great game in the last round for Lucenec, receiving a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 14. The 24-year old player was the main contributor (39 points, two rebounds and seven assists) to his team's victory, helping them to crush Nitra (#10, 2-11) with 18-point margin 111-93.
