American Anthony McClain (213-C-88) had an amazing evening in the last round for Nitra and that's him to receive a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 26.
The 24-year old center had a double-double of 14 points and thirteen rebounds, while his team beat Svit (#9, 5-19) 92-81. Nitra maintains the 3rd position in Slovakian Extraliga. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Nitra will need more victories to improve their 15-9 record. It was one of impressive evenings for McClain as usually he does not deliver so high stats. Anthony McClain averages this season 11.1ppg and 6.6rpg.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 26-year old American Dwight Burke (202-C/F-86) of Nova Ves. Burke impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 21 points and 10 rebounds. It was enough for Nova Ves to edge the lower-ranked Handlova (#8, 6-16) by 6 points 84-78. Nova Ves' 4th position in the standings has not changed. His team's 13-11 record is not bad at all. Burke is a newcomer at Nova Ves and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 16.6ppg (#5). He also registered 8.2 boards per game. Marquette University alumni Burke played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas.

The third best performed player last round was American Barkley Falkner (203-F/C-86) of Prievidza (#5). Falkner showcased his all-around game by recording 23 points, nine rebounds and four assists in the last round. He was a key player of Prievidza, leading his team to a 102-81 easy win against slightly lower-ranked B.Bystrica (#7, 10-13). Prievidza needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 11 victories and 11 lost games. Falkner has a very solid season. In 19 games in Slovakia he scored 8.1ppg.

Other top performing players last week:
4. J.R. Cadot (195-G-87) of Nitra - 23 points, 4 rebounds and 8 assists
5. Peter Seman (191-F-77) of Nitra - 19 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists
6. Roman Vido (204-PF-88) of Handlova - 19 points, 13 rebounds and 2 assists
7. Willie Powers (187-G-89) of Prievidza - 27 points, 2 rebounds and 2 assists
8. Tyronne McNeal (211-C-87) of Svit - 19 points and 6 rebounds
9. Stanislav Baldovsky (192-F-89) of Nova Ves - 15 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists
10. Peter Dorazil (199-F/C-89) of B.Bystrica - 14 points and 7 rebounds

The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

Marshall
Marshall is back at Nova Ves, ex Niagara RL - 2 days ago
BK 04 AC LB Spisska Nova Ves (SBL) signed Canadian forward Matt Marshall (198-98kg, college: Brock). It is actually his comeback to Nova Ves as he has played here before. Marshall played last season at Niagara River Lions in Canadian NBL. But in three NBL Canada games he had just 0.7ppg. Marshall also played that season for BK 04 AC LB Spisska Nova Ves where in 26 SBL games he recorded 7.3ppg, 6.6rpg and 1.4apg. Marshall's team was regular season runner-up in OUA Central Division in 2016....   [read more]

Chris Perry agreed terms with Prievidza - 3 days ago
BC Prievidza (SBL) strengthened their roster with addition of 23-year old American forward Chris Perry (203-113kg-94). He just graduated from Lincoln Memorial (NCAA2). In 28 games he recorded very impressive stats: 17.7ppg, 8.4rpg and 1.3bpg last season. Perry helped them to make it to the final and they also made it to the NCAA D2 Final Four. Great season indeed as he was voted to All-SAC 1st Team and SAC All-Tournament Team. As mentioned above he is just out of the college and it will b...   [read more]
