We bring you last week's top performances from Slovakians who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.

   #1. This week's number one is an international point guard Anton Gavel (188-84, agency: Pro One Sports, currently plays in Germany). He contributed to an easy victory against the 16th-ranked New Yorker Phantoms (7-14) 93-74 in the German BBL in Monday night's game. Gavel scored 10 points, had 5 rebounds and dished 6 assists in 28 minutes on the court. Brose Baskets Bamberg (18-2) is placed first in the BBL. It was his team's eighth consecutive victory in a row. It's Gavel's fourth season with the team. He has relatively good stats this year: 13.2ppg, 3.0rpg, 3.2apg, 2FGP: 64.2%(52-81), 3FGP: 41.4% and FT: 80.7% in the 18 games he played so far. Gavel has a dual citizenship: Slovakian and German. He is currently a member of the Slovakian senior national team.

   #2. Second place goes to an experienced former international power forward Radoslav Rancik (207-79, agency: Beo Basket, college: St.Cloud St., currently plays in Czech Republic). Rancik led CEZ Nymburk to an easy victory against the third-ranked BK Lions Hradec crushing them 82-60 in the Czech Republic NBL last Monday. He recorded 11 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists. CEZ Basketball Nymburkis placed fifth in Group A1. This season Rancik has relatively solid stats: 12.5ppg, 5.0rpg, 1.6apg, 1.1spg, 2FGP: 55.6%(50-90), 3FGP: 36.2% and FT: 83.3%. Former BK Inter Bratislava starter played for the Slovakian national team in 2010.

Dusan Pandula

   #3. The Slovakian player who performed third best last week abroad was an international small forward Dusan Pandula (196-84, currently plays in Czech Republic). He led BK Prostejov to a victory over the sixth-ranked USK Praha 94-76 in the Czech Republic NBL on Saturday night. Pandula was MVP of the game. He recorded 20 points and had 3 steals in 28 minutes. BK Prostejovis placed fourth in Group A1. Pandula has reliable stats this year: 12.1ppg, 4.4rpg, 2.5apg, 1.3spg, 2FGP: 61.0%(72-118), 3FGP: 43.7% and FT: 76.1% in the 24 games. He is also a member of the Slovakian senior national team.

Roman Marko

   #4. Shooting guard Roman Marko (194-86, currently plays in Czech Republic) is a teammate of previously mentioned Dusan Pandula and both played together in the last Czech Republic NBL game. Marko was the major contributor in a BK Prostejov's victory against the sixth-ranked USK Praha 94-76. He recorded 14 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists and 4 steals. Marko's overall stats this season are: 8.8ppg, 3.8rpg, 2.4apg and 1.3spg. He is another player who holds two passports: Slovakian and Czech Republic. Marko is also Slovakian national team player.

International forward Pavol Losonsky (203-88, college: Cal-Irvine, currently plays in United Kingdom) contributed to an easy victory against the league outsider Liverpool Mersey Tigers (0-22) crushing them 84-54 in the British BBL on Saturday night. He recorded 7 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. Jelson Homes DMU Leicester City Riders (16-2) is placed second in the BBL. It's Losonsky's first season with the team. Losonsky's stats this year are: 14.8ppg, 6.6rpg and 1.8apg. He plays currently for the Slovakian national team.

Center Boris Bojanovsky (221-93, currently plays college basketball in the States) contributed to a 2-point Florida St.'s victory against the Georgia Tech (2-7) 56-54 in the NCAA in Tuesday night's game. Bojanovsky scored 10 points and blocked 2 blocks in only 12 minutes. The Florida State University has 5-5 conference record this season. Bojanovsky averaged so far 14.8ppg, 6.6rpg and 1.8apg in the 17 games. He is U20 international player who is currently on the Slovakian National Team roster.

Former international power forward Justin Sedlak (205-87, college: Florida Tech, currently plays in Sweden) contributed to a Solna Vikings' victory against the closely-ranked Sodertalje Kings (16-7) 78-70 in the Swedish Basketligan last Tuesday. Sedlak scored 8 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. Solna Vikings (17-9) is placed fourth in the Basketligan. Sedlak averaged so far 12.9ppg and 5.3rpg. He used to play for the Slovakian national team three years ago.

   #8. Swingman Martin Sykora (192-81, currently plays in Czech Republic), who plays in the Czech Republic NBL could not help Basketbal Svitavy to beat BC Kolin (0-0). He recorded 6 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. The fifth-placed Basketbal Svitavy was defeated 85-80 on the road by the leading BC Kolin in the Group A2. Sykora's overall stats this season are: 4.0ppg and 3.3rpg. He plays currently for the Slovakian national team.

   #9. Former international center Martin Miklosik (225-86, currently plays in Czech Republic) was not able to help B&W Opava in their game against BK Usti nad Labem (0-0) in the Czech Republic NBL. Miklosik recorded 6 points. B&W Opava was defeated 76-68 at home by the lower-ranked BK Usti nad Labem (#7) in the Group A2. Miklosik is currently fourth on the list of best blockers. His overall stats this season are: 6.0ppg, 5.4rpg and 1.1bpg. Worth to mention he played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped him get the job in pro basketball. Miklosik used to play for the Slovakian national team three years ago.

   #10. Forward Viktor Juricek (208-93, currently studies in the States) managed to help University of South Alabama in a 1-point victoryagainst the Florida Atlantic University (6-9) 72-71 in the NCAA in Saturday night's game. He recorded only 3 points in 7 minutes on the court. The University of South Alabama has a solid 11-4 conference record this season. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. This year Juricek averages: 6.0ppg, 5.4rpg and 1.1bpg in the 24 games. He is U20 international player who is currently on the Slovakian National Team roster.


The list of other players, who all have Slovakian passport but never been selected to any of Slovakian national teams:

   #1. Filip Kramer (200-SF-92, currently plays in Austria) was the major contributor in a Kapfenberg Bulls' victory against the league outsider Arkadia Lions (1-18) crushing them 104-81 in the Austrian A Bundesliga last Sunday. He scored 16 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 21 minutes. ECE Bulls Kapfenberg (15-4) is placed second in the A Bundesliga. Kramer's team will play only one more game in the Regular Season. And that game will be critical. It's Kramer's first season with the team. This year he averages: 4.2ppg and 2.2rpg in the 19 games he played so far. Kramer has a dual citizenship: Slovakian and Austrian. Despite his Slovakian passport, Kramer currently plays for the Austrian U20 national team and is not eligible to play for the Slovakian team.

   #2. Peter Simek (205-C-88, agency: Dynamics Global Management, college: Cal-Irvine, currently plays in United Kingdom), who plays in the British BBL could not help Surrey Heat (14-6) to beat Manchester Giants (8-15). Simek scored only 4 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 13 minutes. Surrey Heat lost 70-83 on the road to the lower-ranked (#9) Manchester Giants. This year Simek averages: 5.7ppg and 4.4rpg in the 18 games.

   #3. Experienced Stefan Svitek (203-F/C-77, currently plays in Luxembourg) led Basket Esch to an easy victory against the second-ranked Contern (7-12) crushing them 88-65 in the Luxembourg Diekirch League last Saturday. Svitek had a double-double by scoring 18 points and getting 12 rebounds in 33 minutes. It was the game of the round between two top 3 ranked teams in group Places 7-10. Basket Esch (1-0) is placed first. There are only four games left until the end of the Second Stage. So now every game is very crucial. Svitek averaged so far 14.2ppg, 8.9rpg and 1.7apg in the 19 games.

There will be only one (last) round of the Regular Season in SBL. The biggest surprise of round 43 was guest Lucenec's (#7) road victory over Handlova (#8) 65-61 on Saturday evening. They outrebounded Handlova 47-31 including a 35-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Serbian Strahinja Stojacic (197-92) fired 18 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. American-Jamaican Power forward Phil Henry (203-PF-91) put on an amazing game in the last round for Nova Ves, receiving a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 42. The 25-year old player had a double-double of 32 points and 11 rebounds, while his team Nova Ves maintains the 10th position in Slovakian SBL.
