We bring you last week's top performances from Slovakians who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.

   #1. This week's number one is an international point guard Anton Gavel (188-84, agency: Pro One Sports, currently plays in Euroleague), who plays in Germany. He could not help the league outsider Brose Baskets Bamberg (0-7) in their last game. Despite Gavel's very good performance the eighth-placed Brose Baskets Bamberg was edged in an overtime 88-87 on the road by the higher-ranked (#5) Zalgiris in the group E of Euroleague. He was the top scorer with 25 points. Gavel also added 5 rebounds and 3 assists in 37 minutes on the court. So far Brose Baskets Bamberg lost all seven games in the Top 16. It's Gavel's fourth season with the team. He has relatively good stats this year: 13.1ppg, 2.4rpg, 2.8apg, 2FGP: 52.7%, 3FGP: 39.7% and FT: 83.3% in the 16 games he played so far. Gavel has a dual citizenship: Slovakian and German. He is currently a member of the Slovakian senior national team.

   #2. Second place goes to an experienced former international power forward Radoslav Rancik (207-79, agency: Beo Basket, college: St.Cloud St., currently plays in VTB United League). Rancik led his Czech Republic team CEZ Nymburk to a victory over the fourth-ranked VEF Riga (9-6) 89-85 in the VTB United League last Saturday. He was MVP of the game. Rancik scored 24 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. CEZ Basketball Nymburk (5-9) is placed seventh in group B. They ended the series of four consecutive loses. There are only four games left until the end of the VTB United League Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. This season Rancik has relatively solid stats: 14.4ppg, 4.5rpg, 1.1apg. Former BK Inter Bratislava starter played for the Slovakian national team in 2010.

   #3. The Slovakian player who performed third best last week abroad was an international forward Pavol Losonsky (203-88, college: Cal-Irvine, currently plays in United Kingdom). He was the major contributor in a Leicester Riders' victory against one of league's weakest teams Manchester Giants (8-17) crushing them 84-59 in the British BBL on Saturday night. Losonsky scored 19 points, had 7 rebounds and dished 5 assists in 31 minutes; quite an impressive performance considering it's only his second season in pro basketball. Jelson Homes DMU Leicester City Riders (18-2) is placed first in the BBL. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. It's Losonsky's first year with the team. Losonsky has reliable stats this season: 14.6ppg, 6.6rpg, 1.9apg, 2FGP: 52.8%, 3FGP: 33.3% and FT: 69.4% in the 19 games. He is also a member of the Slovakian senior national team.

   #4. Power forward Justin Sedlak (205-87, college: Florida Tech, currently plays in Sweden), who plays in the Swedish Basketligan was not able to help the league outsider one of league's weakest teams Solna Vikings (18-10) in their last game on Tuesday. Despite Sedlak's very good performance Solna Vikings was defeated 91-83 in Norrkoping by the higher-ranked Dolphins (#5). He was the top scorer with 17 points. Sedlak also added 7 rebounds. Sedlak's stats this season are: 13.0ppg and 5.3rpg. He used to play for the Slovakian national team back in 2010.

   #5. International swingman Martin Sykora (192-81, currently plays in Czech Republic), who plays in the Czech Republic NBL was not able to secure a victory for Basketbal Svitavy (1-1) in their last game. Despite Sykora's good performance Basketbal Svitavy (#3) lost 76-82 on the opponent's court to the leading Levice in the Group A2. He recorded 10 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in 30 minutes. This year Sykora averages: 4.6ppg and 3.4rpg in the five games. He plays currently for the Slovakian national team.

   #6. Center Boris Bojanovsky (221-93, currently plays college basketball in the States) couldn't help the Florida St. (6-6) in their game against the Wake Forest University (4-8) in the NCAA. Bojanovsky recorded 5 points. The Florida St. was crushed 71-46 in Winston-Salem, NC by the Wake Forest University. Bojanovsky's overall stats this season are: 4.6ppg and 3.4rpg. He is U20 international player who is currently on the Slovakian National Team roster.

   #7. U20 international forward Viktor Juricek (208-93, currently studies in the States) managed to help University of South Alabama to win against the Florida Atlantic University (7-10) 72-71 in the NCAA last Saturday. He recorded only 3 points. The University of South Alabama has a solid 12-4 conference record this season. It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. There are only four games left until the end of the NCAA Regular Season. So now every game is very crucial. Juricek's overall stats this season are: 5.5ppg and 4.4rpg. He is also Slovakian U20 national team player.


One more player who has never been selected to any of national teams, but has Slovakian passport:

   #1. Peter Simek (205-C-88, agency: Dynamics Global Management, college: Cal-Irvine, currently plays in United Kingdom), who plays in the British BBL could not help Surrey Heat (14-7) to beat Plymouth Raiders (15-7). Simek cannot count it as his best performance. He scored only 2 points in 7 minutes on the court. Surrey Heat was edged 91-89 on the road by the higher-ranked (#3) Plymouth Raiders. It's Simek's first season with the team. This year Simek's overall stats are: 5.5ppg and 4.4rpg in the 19 games he played so far.

There was no lack of excitement in the last round games. The round ended with favorites losing the games and games ending by tiny margin. The most important game in the last round took place in Nova Ves between second ranked Inter Bratislava (18-6) and tenth ranked Nova Ves (4-20) on Wednesday night. Inter Bratislava was defeated by Nova Ves in a tough game on the road 86-92. 26-year old guard Andre Jones (191-G-90) had a very impressive game in the last round for Prievidza and receives a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 25. He had the game-high 25 points adding five rebounds and four assists for Prievidza in his team's victory, helping them to beat Nova Ves (#10, 3-20) 90-75. SBL Round 25: Inter Bratislava beats Iskra Svit by two after a very close game - 3 days ago
Host teams show no mercy winning all games. Fifth-ranked Iskra Svit (12-11) was very close to win a game against second ranked Inter Bratislava (18-5) on Saturday. Inter Bratislava managed to secure only two-point victory 89-87. However their fans expected easier game. Inter Bratislava shot 66.0 percent from the field.
