American Tyronne McNeal (211-C-87) had a very impressive game in the last round for Svit and that's him to receive a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 30. The 25-year old center had a double-double of 27 points and twelve rebounds, while his team crushed Handlova (#9, 6-20) with 22-point margin 100-78. Svit maintains the 8th position in Slovakian Extraliga. The season is in a full swing, so it's only a dream for the team to make it into top half of the standings. For contrary they may face relegation if the situation turns from bad to worse. Svit have already lost 20 games and recorded just eight victories. It was one of impressive evenings for McNeal as usually he does not deliver so high stats. Tyronne McNeal averages this season 11.8ppg and 5.6rpg. Worth to mention McNeal played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped him get the job in pro basketball.
The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 26-year old American Dwight Burke (202-C/F-86) of Nova Ves. Burke impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 19 points and 14 rebounds. Bad luck as Nova Ves lost that game 60-76 to the higher-ranked Levice (#1, 20-6). It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Nova Ves still maintains its place in the top 4 of the standings, even despite this loss. His team's 14-13 record is not bad at all. Burke is a newcomer at Nova Ves and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 17.2ppg (#5). He also registered 8.4 boards per game. Marquette University alumni Burke played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas.
The third best performed player last round was Slovenian Salih Nuhanovic (208-C-82) of top-ranked Levice. Nuhanovic scored 17 points and grabbed eight rebounds. He was a key player of Levice, leading his team to a 76-60 easy win against #4 ranked Nova Ves. Levice confirms their top position in the standings. Their record at this point is 20 victories and 6 lost games. Nuhanovic has a great season in Slovakia. After 24 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 7.2rpg (7th best). He also has 1.5bpg and FGP: 63.3%.
Other top performing players last week: 4. Branislav Tomek (205-C-83) of Nitra - 26 points and 14 rebounds 5. Deremy Geiger (180-PG-90) of Nitra - 30 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists 6. David Godbold (196-G-85) of Prievidza - 15 points, 13 rebounds and 7 assists 7. Kevin Thompson (205-F-89) of Komarno - 20 points, 13 rebounds and 2 assists 8. Chris Lowe (182-PG-87) of Komarno - 25 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists 9. Anthony McClain (213-C-88) of Nitra - 16 points and 7 rebounds 10. Zack Crimmins (213-C-89) of Handlova - 26 points and 6 rebounds
The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

Players of BK Inter Bratislava allowed their host to reach surprisingly high win in game one on Saturday. Now it's time for team from capital city to show their skills in front of home fans. MBK Rieker Komarno outscored and outjumped their opponent by 22 (99:77) points and 14 rebounds (35:12). "We were too soft, lacking energy. We should have fought more for the win," said Peter Sedmak (207-C-85), forward of BK Inter Bratislava who was leading the team. Komarno also made huge part of win in defense. "The key to our play in the second half was our intensity on defense. We played at a high level on defense and that lead to easy fast break points and easy offense," claimed Amin Stevens (198-F-90, college: Florida A&M) of Komarno, the only player reaching double-double in game one. The important thing about game two, Inter will field Martin Rancik (204-F/C-78, college: Iowa St.) who did not play because of ban (three technical fouls in the season). "Rancik is very good player. It will make a big difference when he'll play in game 2," gives his respect Komarno's guard Vincent Simpson (185-G-88, agency: R.H.Consultancy, college: Hampton) and Kevin Thompson (205-F-89, college: Morgan St.), who led the season with rebounds agrees: "It's going to be a big difference because he is a really good player. We will have to take game 2 there, it will be a big game for us," shows his optimism.
