#1. This week's number one is an international point guard Anton Gavel (188-84, agency: Pro One Sports, currently plays in Germany). He was the major contributor in a Brose Baskets Bamberg's victory against the tenth-ranked TBB Trier (11-12) 96-84 in the German BBL in Sunday night's game.
Gavel scored 18 points, grabbed 5 rebounds and dished 3 assists in 30 minutes on the court.
Brose Baskets Bamberg (20-2) is placed first in the BBL.
It was his team's tenth consecutive victory in a row.
It's Gavel's fourth season with the team.
He has relatively good stats this year: 13.6ppg, 3.0rpg, 3.3apg, 2FGP: 61.7%(58-94), 3FGP: 43.8% and FT: 82.0% in the 20 games he played so far.
Gavel has a dual citizenship: Slovakian and German.
He is currently a member of the Slovakian senior national team.
#2. Second place goes to an experienced former international power forward Radoslav Rancik (207-79, agency: Beo Basket, college: St.Cloud St., currently plays in VTB United League). Rancik led his Czech Republic team CEZ Nymburk to a victory over the fourth-ranked VEF Riga (9-6) 89-85 in the VTB United League last Saturday.
He was MVP of the game. Rancik scored 24 points and grabbed 6 rebounds.
CEZ Basketball Nymburk (5-9) is placed seventh in group B.
They ended the series of four consecutive loses.
There are only four games left until the end of the VTB United League Regular Season. So now every game will be critical.
This season Rancik has relatively solid stats: 14.4ppg, 4.5rpg, 1.1apg.
Former BK Inter Bratislava starter played for the Slovakian national team in 2010.
#3. The Slovakian player who performed third best last week abroad was an international forward Pavol Losonsky (203-88, college: Cal-Irvine, currently plays in United Kingdom). He was the main contributor in a Leicester Riders' victory against the tenth-ranked Cheshire Phoenix (8-17) 69-60 in the British BBL on Sunday night.
Losonsky was the best player in that game. He scored 24 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in 36 minutes; quite an impressive performance considering it's only Losonsky's second season in pro basketball. Jelson Homes DMU Leicester City Riders (19-2) is placed first in the BBL.
It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row.
It's Losonsky's first year with the team.
He has individually a very good season with high stats. Losonsky averages: 15.1ppg, 6.6rpg, 1.9apg, 2FGP: 54.4%, 3FGP: 30.8% and FT: 69.4% in the 20 games.
He is also a member of the Slovakian senior national team.
#4. Small forward Dusan Pandula (196-84, currently plays in Czech Republic), who plays in the Czech Republic NBL could not help BK Prostejov (0-1) in their last game on Saturday. Despite Pandula's good performance the sixth-placed BK Prostejov was defeated 103-94 on the road by the second-ranked NH Ostrava in the Group A1.
He recorded 13 points and grabbed 8 rebounds.
Pandula has reliable stats this season: 12.2ppg, 4.6rpg, 2.5apg and 1.3spg.
He is also Slovakian national team player.
#5. Former international power forward Justin Sedlak (205-87, college: Florida Tech, currently plays in Sweden) contributed to a Solna Vikings' victory against one of league's weakest teams White Eagles (5-24) 88-76 in the Swedish Basketligan last Tuesday.
Sedlak scored 12 points and grabbed 8 rebounds (was perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line) in 21 minutes.
Solna Vikings (19-10) is placed sixth in the Basketligan.
There are only four games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game is very crucial.
Sedlak's stats this year are: 12.9ppg and 5.4rpg in the 26 games.
He used to play for the Slovakian national team
three years ago.
#6. Shooting guard Roman Marko (194-86, currently plays in Czech Republic) is a teammate of previously mentioned Dusan Pandula and both played together in the last Czech Republic NBL game.
Marko, who plays in the Czech Republic NBL was not able to help BK Prostejov (0-1) in their last game on Saturday. Despite his good performance BK Prostejov (#6) was defeated 103-94 in Ostrava by the second-ranked NH Ostrava in the Group A1.
Marko recorded 12 points and grabbed 6 rebounds.
Marko's overall stats this season are: 8.9ppg, 3.9rpg, 2.4apg and 1.2spg.
He is an international player who is currently on the senior Slovakian National Team roster.
#7. International swingman Martin Sykora (192-81, currently plays in Czech Republic) was not able to secure a victory for Basketbal Svitavy (1-2) in their game against B&W Opava (1-1) in the Czech Republic NBL, despite his very good performance in Friday night's game.
Sykora was the top scorer with 16 points. He also added 6 rebounds in 31 minutes.
But Basketbal Svitavy (#6) was badly defeated 90-72 in Opava by the higher-ranked (#4) B&W Opava in the Group A2.
This year Sykora's overall stats are: 6.5ppg and 3.8rpg in the six games.
He is also Slovakian national team player.
#8. Center Boris Bojanovsky (221-93, currently plays college basketball in the States) managed to help Florida State University in a 3-point victoryagainst the Boston College (4-9) 69-66 in the NCAA on Saturday night.
He scored 5 points in 14 minutes.
The Florida State University has 6-7 conference record this season.
This year Bojanovsky's total stats are: 5.5ppg and 4.5rpg in the 20 games.
He plays currently for the Slovakian U20 national team.
#9. U20 international forward Viktor Juricek (208-93, currently studies in the States) couldn't help the S.Alabama (13-5) in their game against the Middle Tennessee State University (17-1) in the NCAA. Juricek cannot count Thursday's game as one of the best ones.
He recorded only 2 points.
The S.Alabama (#2) was crushed 85-50 in Murfreesboro, TN by the Middle Tennessee State University.
There are only two games left until the end of the NCAA Regular Season. So now every game will be important.
Juricek has averaged so far 5.5ppg and 4.5rpg.
He is also in the roster of the Slovakian U20 national team.

In 49 games he had 9.3ppg, 2.7rpg and 2.6apg last season. Stria played in the final of Czech Republic League for two years in a row (2015 and 2016). He was selected to Czech Republic NBL All-Star Game in 2013, 2015 and 2016. Stria has played also professionally for other Czech Republic teams like BK Pardubice, Levharti Chomutov, BK Kolin and Podebrady. It's very possible he may end his playing career at Handlova.

Newly promoted MBK Lucenec (SBL) tabbed 23-year old American guard Phillip Leonard (188-91kg-93). He just graduated from Mercer (NCAA). Leonard has played there for the last three years. Vasas Akademia (NB I. B) added to their roster experienced 35-year old American point guard Ronnie Taylor (187-90kg-81, college: NC-Greensboro, agency: Octagon Europe). Thanks to Taylor's pro career he managed to play on four different continents (Europe, Asia, Latin America and of course North America) in seven different countries. Taylor has played previously professionally in Germany, Iraq (Duhok), Lebanon (Homenetmen), Qatar (Al Wakrah), France (Pau-Lacq-Orthez, Etendard de Brest, SPO Rouen, Le Portel and Boulazac Basket), Hungary (Marso Nyiregyhazi KK) and Dominican Republic (Soles de Santo Domingo). It's very possible he may end his playing career at Vasas Akademia. Taylor attended University of North Carolina, Greensboro until 2004 and it will be his 13th (hopefully lucky) (!!!) season as a professional player. The scouts decsribe him following way:
Ronnie Taylor understands the game and knows how it's played. He's a point guard who scores without forcing the issue, but is not afraid to take responsibility when needed. If the situation asks to get teammates involved he will reduce his scoring output and add to his assist total. Offensively, Ronnie posesses great ball handling skills, always plays under control and does not falter against full court or half court pressure. Being a natural right hand of the coach, Ronnie is also able to create and break a play to score. Defensively, his quick hands and footwork help him a lot to stay in front of his opponent and come up with steals. Ronnie is a leader on the court who can score in many ways and has all the skills to make the players around him look better. He's a clutch player with cold blood when the game is on the line in the last minutes. Ronnie is extremely dangerous in the transition phase almost always making the right decision. He can go coast to coast, pull up for the shot, or find the right guy running the lanes. In the half court set Ronnie also has many options to choose from. He is an excellent pick and roll player as he is able to turn the corner and take it to the hole. When the defense cheats or switches he can hit the three or take a bigger guy one-on-one. In addition to his skills on both ends of the floor he has the necessary desire and drive to win every game.
