The games at this stage are more interesting as they can be crucial for the final standings in Regular Season. Despite we already know who is stronger and who is weaker, there may be still last minute susprises and upsets.

The game between third ranked Nitra (17-11) and fourth ranked Nova Ves (15-13) was the most important one in the last round on Wednesday night. Nitra was defeated by Nova Ves in Nova Ves 84-94. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Nitra. The game was mostly controlled by Nova Ves. Nitra managed to win second period 19-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a great shooting night for Nova Ves especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.6 percentage. Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard Maurice Acker (178-87, college: Marquette) who helped to win the game recording 34 points (!!!) and 7 assists. His fellow American import point guard N'Gai Evans (188-88, college: Wright St.) contributed with 19 points and 4 assists for the winners. Nova Ves' coach Milan Cernicky used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American point guard Deremy Geiger (180-90, college: Idaho) answered with 21 points for Nitra. Nova Ves maintains fourth place with 15-13 record. Nitra at the other side keeps the third position with 11 games lost. Nova Ves are looking forward to face SKP Banska Bystrica (#7) on the road in the next round. Nitra will play against the league's leader Levice (#1) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

At the losing side point guard Robert Sturcel (184-93) responded with 13 points. Levice have an impressive series of eleven victories in a row. They maintain first place with 21-6 record. Prievidza lost fifth consecutive game. Defending champion keeps the sixth position with 16 games lost. They share it with B.Bystrica. Levice will play against Nitra (#3) in Nitra in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Prievidza will play at home against Handlova and hopes to get back on the winning track.

In the last two games of round 31 Inter Bratislava beat Handlova on the road 97-79. Komarno destroyed B.Bystrica on its own court 98-76.



Levice - Prievidza 99-54

Extraliga top team - Levice (21-6) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed sixth ranked Prievidza (11-16) 99-54. The game was mostly controlled by Levice. Prievidza was better in third quarter 22-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Levice dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Prievidza's 34. They outrebounded Prievidza 41-26 including 29 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for American point guard Willie Kemp (188-87, college: Memphis) who led his team to a victory scoring 20 points and 5 assists. His fellow American import forward Jeremy Simmons (204-89, college: Charleston, agency: Interperformances) helped adding 15 points and 5 rebounds. Five Levice players scored in double figures. Levice's coach felt very confident that he used 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side point guard Robert Sturcel (184-93) responded with 13 points and Serbian center Sasa Mijajlovic (211-80, college: Hutchinson CC) scored 8 points and 6 rebounds. Levice have an impressive series of eleven victories in a row. They maintain first place with 21-6 record. Prievidza lost fifth consecutive game. Defending champion keeps the sixth position with 16 games lost. They share it with B.Bystrica. Levice will play against Nitra (#3) in Nitra in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Handlova - Inter Bratislava 79-97

No shocking result in a game when fifth ranked Inter Bratislava (15-14) beat on the road bottom-ranked Handlova (6-21) 97-79. The game was mostly controlled by Inter Bratislava. Handlova was better in fourth quarter 30-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Inter Bratislava dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Handlova's 34 and made 22-of-28 charity shots (78.6 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Handlova 40-21 including a 29-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. Handlova was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for American forward Alando Tucker (198-84, college: Wisconsin, agency: Priority Sports) who led his team to a victory scoring 29 points and 8 rebounds. The former international center Peter Sedmak (207-85) helped adding 21 points and 6 rebounds. At the losing side American point guard Kevin Bridgewaters (179-84, college: Chattanooga) responded with 25 points and 6 rebounds and forward Ondrej Haviar (194-85) scored 18 points and 4 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Handlova's coach Karol Kucera rotated eleven players seeing no chance for a win. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Inter Bratislava. They maintain fifth place with 15-14 record. Handlova lost their ninth game in a row. They stay at the bottom position with 21 games lost. Inter Bratislava will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Handlova will play on the road against Prievidza (#6) and hopes to get back on the winning track.

Komarno - B.Bystrica 98-76

Very expected game when 7th ranked SKP Banska Bystrica (11-16) was smashed on the road by second ranked Komarno (20-7) 98-76. Komarno maintains second place with 20-7 record behind leader Levice. SKP Banska Bystrica at the other side dropped to the sixth position with 16 games lost. They share it with Prievidza. Komarno will play against Svit (#8) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. SKP Banska Bystrica will play against Nova Ves and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Serbian Shooting guard Strahinja Stojacic (197-SG-92) had a great game in the last round for Lucenec, receiving a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 14. The 24-year old player was the main contributor (39 points, two rebounds and seven assists) to his team's victory, helping them to crush Nitra (#10, 2-11) with 18-point margin 111-93. What a coincidence that all visitors won their games. SBL top team - Inter Bratislava (11-3) managed to deliver another win on Wednesday. This time they beat fifth ranked Iskra Svit (7-7) 83-71. Inter Bratislava forced 20 Iskra Svit turnovers. Batka's double-double lands him Player of the Week award - 6 days ago

29-year old center Michal Batka (204-C-87) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for second-ranked Kosice and receives a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 13. He had a double-double of 22 points and 10 rebounds, while his team beat Karlovka (#9, 4-8) 93-81. Kosice maintains the 2nd position in Slovakian league.
