The games at this stage are more interesting as they can be crucial for the final standings in Regular Season. Despite we already know who is stronger and who is weaker, there may be still last minute susprises and upsets. The fans could enjoy quite many interesting games in the last round. The round ended with defeat of the leader, extra overtimes, favorites losing the games and games ending by tiny margin.

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Levice (21-7) on the court of third ranked Nitra on Monday night. Visitors were edged by Nitra in overtime 93-91. It ended at the same time the 11-game winning streak of Levice. The hosts trailed by 3 points after three quarters before their 15-12 charge, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time and get a 2-point victory in overtime. Nitra maintains third position with 18-11 record having just two points less than leader Levice. Levice at the other side still keeps top place with seven games lost. Nitra are looking forward to face Inter Bratislava (#4) at home in the next round. Levice will play against Handlova and is hoping to win this game.

The most impressive performance of 32th round was 40 points (!!!) and 5 assists by Kevin Bridgewaters of Handlova.

Nitra - Levice 93-91 OT

B.Bystrica - Nova Ves 84-74

There was a small surprise when seventh ranked SKP Banska Bystrica (12-16) beat at home 4th ranked Nova Ves (15-14) 84-74 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by SKP Banska Bystrica. Nova Ves was better in second period 18-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Croatian guard Sven Smajlagic (193-90) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 10 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). American point guard Enique Clemons (180-80, college: Missouri) contributed with 14 points and 6 assists for the winners. Four SKP Banska Bystrica players scored in double figures. SKP Banska Bystrica's coach Ivan Kurilla used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Serbian power forward Aco Mandic (204-84) replied with 18 points and 9 rebounds and American point guard Maurice Acker (178-87, college: Marquette) added 19 points in the effort for Nova Ves. SKP Banska Bystrica moved-up to sixth place. Loser Nova Ves keep the fourth position with 14 games lost. SKP Banska Bystrica will face Svit (#8) at home in the next round.

Svit - Komarno 97-86

There was an upset when second-ranked Komarno (20-8) lost on the road to eighth ranked Svit (9-20) 97-86 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Svit. Komarno was better in third quarter 25-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a great shooting night for Svit especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.6 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. American players dominated the game. Guard Wesley Channels (190-88, college: Austin Peay St.) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 14 assists. Guard Clarence Jackson (193-89, college: Siena) contributed with 27 points for the winners. Five Svit players scored in double figures. Forward Amin Stevens (198-90, college: Florida A&M) replied with 26 points and 9 rebounds and forward Kevin Thompson (205-89, college: Morgan St.) added 25 points and 9 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) in the effort for Komarno. Svit maintains eighth position with 9-20 record. Loser Komarno keeps the second place with eight games lost. Svit will face higher ranked SKP Banska Bystrica (#6) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Komarno will play against Prievidza (#7).

Prievidza - Handlova 71-73

There was a small surprise when ninth ranked Handlova (7-21) edged on the road 6th ranked Prievidza (11-17) 73-71 on Saturday. Prievidza was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Handlova made 21-of-26 free shots (80.8 percent) during the game. They also forced 21 Prievidza turnovers. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Handlova made 7 blocks. Prievidza was plagued by 30 personal fouls down the stretch. American point guard Kevin Bridgewaters (179-84, college: Chattanooga) orchestrated the victory by scoring 40 points (!!!) and 5 assists. Swingman Michal Podhorsky (193-87) contributed with 7 points for the winners. The former international guard Milan Ziak (190-88) replied with 20 points and American center Justin Manns (210-89, college: Kent St.) added 10 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Prievidza. Four Prievidza players scored in double figures. Prievidza's coach Krunoslav Krajnovic tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Handlova maintains ninth position with 7-21 record. Prievidza lost sixth consecutive game. Defending champion dropped to the seventh place with 17 games lost. Handlova will face league's leader Levice on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.

26-year old guard Andre Jones (191-G-90) had a very impressive game in the last round for Prievidza and receives a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 25. He had the game-high 25 points adding five rebounds and four assists for Prievidza in his team's victory, helping them to beat Nova Ves (#10, 3-20) 90-75. SBL Round 25: Inter Bratislava beats Iskra Svit by two after a very close game - 3 days ago
Host teams show no mercy winning all games. Fifth-ranked Iskra Svit (12-11) was very close to win a game against second ranked Inter Bratislava (18-5) on Saturday. Inter Bratislava managed to secure only two-point victory 89-87. However their fans expected easier game. Inter Bratislava shot 66.0 percent from the field.
