Seventh ranked Iskra Svit (13-14) crushed at home 10th ranked Nova Ves (4-23) by 43 points 103-60, which is the biggest margin this round on Saturday night. Iskra Svit dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Nova Ves' 30 and made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. Iskra Svit forced 19 Nova Ves turnovers and outrebounded them 44-26 including a 31-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Israeli center Anton Shoutvin (206-89) stepped up and scored 28 points for the winners and Puerto Rican point guard Javier Gonzalez (185-89, college: N.Carolina St.) chipped in 22 points and 11 assists. American-Jamaican Phil Henry (203-91, college: E.New Mexico, agency: Global Sports Plaza) responded with 19 points and 9 rebounds. Nova Ves' coach Erich Korfanta gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Iskra Svit moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Handlova. Nova Ves lost third consecutive game. They keep the tenth position with 23 games lost. Iskra Svit is looking forward to face higher ranked Rieker KN (#5) in Komarno in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Nova Ves will play on the road against Karlovka (#9) in Bratislava and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

There were no shocking results in the rest of the games of round 29: Karlovka was destroyed by Levice on the opponent's court 93-55. Prievidza outscored Lucenec in a home game 89-70. Rieker KN managed to beat Handlova on the road 96-87.

Levice - Karlovka 93-55

Very expected game when 9th ranked Karlovka (8-18) was crushed on the road by third ranked Levice (19-7) 93-55 on Saturday. Levice dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Karlovka's 32 and made 25-of-29 free shots (86.2 percent) during the game, while Karlovka only scored eight points from the stripe. Levice forced 24 Karlovka turnovers. 24 personal fouls committed by Karlovka helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Serbian forward Zarko Djuric (202-89) stepped up and scored 17 points and 8 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners and Bosnian power forward Igor Josipovic (205-88) chipped in 16 points and 7 rebounds. Four Levice players scored in double figures. Guard Marek Dolezaj (195-98) responded with 11 points and 7 rebounds and center Ivan Zidzik (208-90, college: NW Nazarene) scored 9 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Levice have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain third place with 19-7 record having just three points less than leader Kosice. Karlovka at the other side keeps the ninth position with 18 games lost. Levice are looking forward to face Prievidza (#4) at home in the next round. Karlovka will play against Nova Ves (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Rather predictable result when fourth ranked Prievidza (18-6) smashed at home 8th ranked Lucenec (10-15) 89-70 on Saturday. Prievidza forced 20 Lucenec turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Lucenec's players. American guard Andre Jones (191-90, college: Winthrop) stepped up and scored 19 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners and the former international Richard Korner (197-90) chipped in 17 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Five Prievidza players scored in double figures. American point guard Rashun Davis (180, college: Radford) responded with 19 points and 5 assists and the other American import forward Aaron Rountree III (203-93, college: Iona) produced a double-double by scoring 10 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists. Defending champion maintains fourth place with 18-6 record. Lucenec lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the eighth position with 15 games lost. Prievidza are looking forward to face higher ranked Levice (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Lucenec will play against the league's second-placed Inter Bratislava (#2) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that they can break losing series.

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in MBK Handlova where 5th ranked Handlova (13-14) was defeated by sixth ranked Rieker KN (13-12) 96-87 on Saturday. Rieker KN made 18-of-23 free shots (78.3 percent) during the game. They shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 63.2 percentage. Slovenian forward Sinisa Bilic (201-89, agency: 011 Sports) stepped up and scored 24 points for the winners and Slovenian guard Boban Tomic (190-88) chipped in 19 points and 4 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). Five Rieker KN players scored in double figures. The former international power forward Peter Sedmak (207-85, agency: 011 Sports) responded with 30 points and 5 rebounds and the former international point guard Nenad Milosevic (190-83, agency: 011 Sports) scored 14 points. Rieker KN moved-up to fifth place. Newly promoted Handlova dropped to the sixth position with 14 games lost. They share it with Iskra Svit. BK 04 AC LB Spisska Nova Ves (SBL) signed Canadian forward Matt Marshall (198-98kg, college: Brock). It is actually his comeback to Nova Ves as he has played here before. Marshall played last season at Niagara River Lions in Canadian NBL. But in three NBL Canada games he had just 0.7ppg. Marshall also played that season for BK 04 AC LB Spisska Nova Ves where in 26 SBL games he recorded 7.3ppg, 6.6rpg and 1.4apg. BC Prievidza (SBL) strengthened their roster with addition of 23-year old American forward Chris Perry (203-113kg-94). He just graduated from Lincoln Memorial (NCAA2). In 28 games he recorded very impressive stats: 17.7ppg, 8.4rpg and 1.3bpg last season. Perry helped them to make it to the final and they also made it to the NCAA D2 Final Four.
