The most exciting game of round 30 in the SBL took place in Levice. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of one of their biggest challengers Levice (19-8) to fourth ranked Prievidza (19-6) 87-84 in the game for the third place. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Levice. The best player for the winners was Croatian forward Igor Maric (196-85) who scored 23 points and 5 rebounds. American guard Andre Jones (191-90, college: Winthrop) chipped in 17 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Mychal Ammons (198-92, college: S.Alabama) who recorded 25 points and 7 rebounds. Prievidza have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending champion moved-up to third place. Levice at the other side dropped to the fourth position with eight games lost. Prievidza are looking forward to face Karlovka (#9) in Bratislava in the next round where they are favorite. Levice will play on the road against the league's second-placed Inter Bratislava (#2) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Very important is a road loss of second ranked Inter Bratislava (20-7) against eighth ranked Lucenec (11-15) on Wednesday night. Visiting Inter Bratislava was defeated by Lucenec in Lucenec 96-81. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Inter Bratislava. It was a good game for Serbian Strahinja Stojacic (197-92) who led his team to a victory with 26 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists. Aaron Rountree III contributed with 17 points, 11 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 blocks for the winners. The former international swingman Martin Bilik (194-87) replied with 18 points and 4 steals for Inter Bratislava. Inter Bratislava's coach Oliver Vidin rotated ten players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Newly promoted Lucenec maintains eighth position with 11-15 record. Inter Bratislava at the other side keeps the second place with seven games lost. Lucenec will play against league's leader Kosice on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Inter Bratislava will play against Levice and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Peter Sedmak scored 20 points to lead the charge for the winners. Handlova's coach Lubomir Ruzicka felt very confident that he used 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. The best for the losing side was Jonathan Dogbo with 22 points and 5 rebounds. Newly promoted Handlova maintains sixth position with 14-14 record. Nitra lost tenth consecutive game. They stay dead last with 24 lost games. Handlova will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Nitra will play against Iskra Svit (#7) and hope to secure a win.

In the last two games of round 30 Nova Ves was crushed by Karlovka in Bratislava 90-71. Rieker KN smashed Iskra Svit at home 93-67.

Karlovka - Nova Ves 90-71

The game between closely ranked teams ended with 10th ranked Nova Ves' (4-24) road loss to ninth ranked Karlovka (9-18) 71-90 on Wednesday. Karlovka looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Guard Marek Dolezaj (195-98) scored 19 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists to lead the charge for the winners and center Ivan Zidzik (208-90, college: NW Nazarene) chipped in 21 points (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) during the contest. Four Karlovka players scored in double figures. Karlovka's coach Peter Ivanovic used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. The best for the losing side was American-Jamaican Phil Henry (203-91, college: E.New Mexico, agency: Global Sports Plaza) with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds and international forward Viktor Juricek (211-93, college: Texas A&M-CC) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points and 13 rebounds. Karlovka maintains ninth position with 9-18 record. Nova Ves lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the tenth place with 24 games lost. Karlovka will meet higher ranked Prievidza (#3) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Nova Ves will play against Rieker KN (#5) and hope to secure a win.

The game with biggest result difference took place in Nitra. Local Nitra (2-24) was outscored by sixth ranked Handlova (14-14) 95-67 on Wednesday night. Handlova dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to Nitra's 40. They outrebounded Nitra 38-27 including 28 on the defensive glass. Handlova looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Nitra's players. The former international power forward Peter Sedmak (207-85, agency: 011 Sports) scored 20 points to lead the charge for the winners and Serbian guard Pedja Stamenkovic (190-88, agency: 011 Sports) chipped in 13 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. Five Handlova players scored in double figures. Handlova's coach Lubomir Ruzicka felt very confident that he used 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. The best for the losing side was French guard Jonathan Dogbo (193, college: Gannon) with 22 points and 5 rebounds and American guard Kenny Rhymes (196-91, college: Texas Wesleyan) produced a double-double by scoring 10 points and 11 rebounds. No shocking result in a game in Komarno where fifth ranked Rieker KN (14-12) smashed 7th ranked Iskra Svit (13-15) 93-67 on Wednesday. They outrebounded Iskra Svit 38-26 including 29 on the defensive glass. Rieker KN looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American forward Wayne Langston (201-93, college: Murray St.) had a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Slovenian guard Boban Tomic (190-88) chipped in 16 points and 7 assists during the contest. Four Rieker KN players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Israeli center Anton Shoutvin (206-89) with 16 points and 5 rebounds and American point guard Evan Singletary (185-94, college: Albany) scored 15 points and 5 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Rieker KN maintains fifth position with 14-12 record. Loser Iskra Svit keeps the seventh place with 15 games lost. Rieker KN will meet Nova Ves (#10) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Iskra Svit will play against Nitra and hope to secure a win.
