   #1. This week's number one is an experienced former international center Ondrej Soska (208-78, currently plays in Czech Republic). He led Novy Jicin to a surprising victory over the leader SKB Zlin (15-2) 101-95 in the Czech Republic 1Liga (second division) last Sunday. Soska was MVP of the game. He scored 31 points (!!!), grabbed 5 rebounds and dished 6 assists. BC Novy Jicin (6-11) is placed eighth in Group B. Soska's team will play only one more game in the Regular Season. And that game will be critical. Soska has individually a very good season with high stats. He averages: 17.8ppg, 7.3rpg, 2.2apg, 2FGP: 63.2%(43-68), 3FGP: 18.2% and FT: 83.3%. Soska played for the Slovakian senior national team twelve years ago.

Anton Gavel

   #2. Second place goes to former international point guard Anton Gavel (189-84, currently plays in EuroCup). He contributed to an easy victory against the closely-ranked Khimky (4-2) crushing them 96-74 in the Eurocup on Wednesday night. Gavel scored 8 points and added 4 passes in 24 minutes. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. FC Bayern Muenchen (6-0) is placed first in the Eurocup. So far his team won all six games in the Second Stage. There are only two games left until the end of the Eurocup Second Stage. So now every game is very crucial. This year Gavel's overall stats are: 4.9ppg, 2.8rpg, 2.6apg, 2FGP: 34.4%, 3FGP: 27.6% and FT: 73.3% in 14 games he played so far. He has a dual citizenship: Slovakian and German. Gavel played for the Slovakian national team in 2012.

   #3. The Slovakian player who performed third best last week abroad was former U20 international forward Vladimir Brodziansky (211-94, currently plays college basketball in the States). He led TCU to an easy victory against the The University of Texas (2-0) 78-63 in the NCAA in Saturday night's game. Brodziansky scored 18 points, had 4 rebounds and made 4 blocks (went 5 for 5 at the free throw line). The Texas Christian University has 3-1 conference record this season. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. Brodziansky has relatively good stats this season: 13.7ppg, 5.7rpg, 2.4bpg, 2FGP: 65.9%(108-164), 3FGP: 38.9% and FT: 78.2%. He played for the Slovakian U20 national team four years ago.

   #4. Small forward Dusan Pandula (196-84, currently plays in Czech Republic) led BK Pardubice to a victory against the fifth-ranked BK Opava (12-11) 78-70 in the Czech Republic NBL last Saturday. Pandula recorded 12 points in 26 minutes. BK JIP Pardubice (18-4) is placed second in Places 1-6 group. This year Pandula has relatively solid stats: 11.8ppg, 3.6rpg, 1.6apg and 1.4spg in five games. He used to play for the Slovakian national team back in 2012.

Former international shooting guard Roman Marko (194-86, currently plays in Czech Republic) contributed to a Basketbal Svitavy's victory against the leader BK Usti nad Labem (9-14) 75-61 in the Czech Republic NBL on Tuesday night. Marko recorded 10 points, 4 assists and 4 steals. It was his first game for Basketbal Svitavy this season. It was the game of the round between two top 3 ranked teams in group Places 7-12. His team is placed third. It was Basketbal Svitavy's third consecutive victory in a row. Marko is another player who holds two passports: Slovakian and Czech Republic. He used to play for the Slovakian national team four years ago.

   #6. Forward Michal Cekovsky (216-94, currently studies in the States), who plays in the NCAA could not help the Maryland (4-1) in their last game. Despite Cekovsky's good performance the Maryland was edged 73-72 on the road by the Purdue University. He scored 10 points and blocked 6 shots in only 13 minutes. This year Cekovsky's total stats are: 7.9ppg, 3.0rpg and 1.3bpg in 14 games. He is a former U20 international player as he played for the Slovakian team four years ago.

Former international forward Jakub Petras (211-94, is currently at the American university) helped Stony Brook win their game against the University of Massachusetts - Lowell 83-72 in the NCAA last Monday. Petras scored 9 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. The State University of New York,Stony Brook has 4-0 conference record this season. So far his team won all four games in the conference. Petras has averaged so far 3.0ppg and 3.1rpg. He used to play for the Slovakian national team four years ago.

   #8. Guard Oliver Tot (198-94, currently plays college basketball in the States) managed to help College of William & Mary in a 2-point victoryagainst the College of William & Mary 82-80 in a derby game in the NCAA on Saturday night. Tot scored only 4 points in 9 minutes on the court. The College of William & Mary has 3-3 conference record this season. There are only four games left until the end of the NCAA Regular Season. So now every game will be important. Tot has averaged so far 1.2ppg and 1.3apg in 24 games. He plays currently for the Slovakian national team.

Former U20 international point guard Vladimir Nemcok (178-95, currently plays in NCAA2) was not able to help the Oklahoma Baptist University in their game against the SE Oklahoma State University (3-12) in the NCAA2. Nemcok scored only 4 points, made 4 passes and 3 steals. his team was crushed 81-59 in Durant by the SE Oklahoma State University. It was Oklahoma Baptist University's fourth consecutive loss in a row. Nemcok has reliable stats this season: 11.4ppg, 2.4rpg and 4.3apg. He used to play for the Slovakian U20 national team two years ago.

   #10. Forward Lukas Vilkovsky (196-96, currently plays in NAIA) helped Purdue University Northwest win their game against the Holy Cross College (3-3) 81-76 in the CCAC last Saturday. Vilkovsky scored only 2 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 14 minutes. It was his first game for Purdue University Northwest this season. His team has record this season. It's Vilkovsky's first year with the team. He is U20 international player who is currently on the Slovakian National Team roster.


One more player who has never been selected to any of national teams, but has Slovakian passport:

   #1. Kyle Kuric (193-G/F-89, college: Louisville, currently plays in Spain) led Gran Canaria to a victory over the second-ranked CB Canarias (15-5) 70-60 in the Spanish Liga Endesa in Saturday night's game. He was MVP of the game. Kuric scored 15 points in 26 minutes. Herbalife Gran Canaria (12-8) is placed seventh in the Liga Endesa. Kuric has relatively good stats this year: 12.0ppg and 2.4rpg in 20 games he played so far. He is a naturalized American. Strangely Kuric has never played in Slovakia.

Serbian Aleksa Solevic (188-G-93, agency: Dynamics Global Management) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Nova Ves and that's him to receive a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 43. The 23-year old guard had the game-high 17 points adding six rebounds and six assists for Nova Ves in his team's victory, helping them to outclass Nitra (#11, 3-35) with 33-point margin 108-75. There will be only one (last) round of the Regular Season in SBL. The biggest surprise of round 43 was guest Lucenec's (#7) road victory over Handlova (#8) 65-61 on Saturday evening. They outrebounded Handlova 47-31 including a 35-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Serbian Strahinja Stojacic (197-92) fired 18 points and 5 rebounds for the winners.
