The teams have now bigger motivation at this stage of Regular Season. Every game can be crucial and decide about teams' position at the end of Regular Season.

SBL top team - Kosice (29-6) managed to deliver another win on Saturday. This time they beat fifth ranked Rieker KN (19-16) 84-73. Kosice made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was a great evening for Serbian guard Stefan Matovic (203-91, agency: BeoExcell) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds. The former international guard Milan Ziak (190-88) helped adding 18 points. The best for the losing side was American forward Wayne Langston (201-93, college: Murray St.) with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds. Kosice maintains first place with 29-6 record. Rieker KN lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth position with 16 games lost. Kosice are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Nitra (#11) in Nitra in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Rieker KN will play at home against Handlova (#8) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that they can break losing series.
The game in Lucenec was also worth to mention about. Fourth ranked Levice (23-12) played at the court of 7th ranked Lucenec (17-18). Levice defeated Lucenec 91-78. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Lucenec. It was an exceptional evening for American swingman Josh Nofflet (194-88, college: Lee) who led the winners and scored 24 points (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). Igor Josipovic accounted for 21 points and 5 rebounds. Serbian Strahinja Stojacic (197-92) came up with 18 points and 4 steals for Lucenec in the defeat. Levice maintains fourth place with 23-12 record. Newly promoted Lucenec keeps the seventh position with 18 games lost. Levice will play against Karlovka (#9) in Bratislava in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Lucenec will play at home against Prievidza and hopes to get back on the winning track.
Second ranked Inter Bratislava (27-9) crushed at home 11th ranked Nitra (3-31) by 58 points 115-57, which is the biggest margin this round on Saturday night. The best player for the winners was Nemanja Barac who had a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds. Inter Bratislava's coach Oliver Vidin felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was Robert Rozanek who recorded 20 points. Inter Bratislava have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain second place with 27-9 record having just one point less than leader Kosice. Nitra lost fourth consecutive game. They stay dead last with 31 lost games. Inter Bratislava will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Nitra will play against the league's leader Kosice (#1) and hope to secure a win.

In the last two games of round 39 Nova Ves won against Handlova on the opponent's court 93-82. Iskra Svit managed to outperform Karlovka in a home game 79-70.

Handlova - Nova Ves 82-93

There was a minor upset in MBK Handlova where 8th ranked Handlova (16-20) was defeated by tenth ranked Nova Ves (8-28) 93-82 on Saturday. Nova Ves dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Handlova's 38. The best player for the winners was Serbian guard Aleksa Solevic (188-93, agency: Dynamics Global Management) who scored 17 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). American-Jamaican Phil Henry (203-91, college: E.New Mexico, agency: Global Sports Plaza) chipped in 22 points and 5 rebounds. Five Nova Ves players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international power forward Peter Sedmak (207-85, agency: 011 Sports) who recorded a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds and the former international point guard Nenad Milosevic (190-83, agency: 011 Sports) added 14 points and 5 assists respectively. Nova Ves maintains tenth place with 8-28 record. Newly promoted Handlova keeps the eighth position with 20 games lost. Nova Ves will meet at home higher ranked Iskra Svit (#6) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Handlova will play against Rieker KN in Komarno and hope to secure a win.

Serbian Strahinja Stojacic (197-92) came up with 18 points and 4 steals and American point guard Rashun Davis (180, college: Radford) added 21 points respectively for Lucenec in the defeat. Four Lucenec players scored in double figures. Levice maintains fourth place with 23-12 record. Newly promoted Lucenec keeps the seventh position with 18 games lost. Inter Bratislava forced 19 Nitra turnovers and outrebounded them 50-24 including a 33-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Inter Bratislava looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. The best player for the winners was Serbian Nemanja Barac (194-90, agency: 011 Sports) who had a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds. Rather predictable result when sixth ranked Iskra Svit (19-17) defeated at home 9th ranked Karlovka (9-26) 79-70 on Saturday. The best player for the winners was American point guard Evan Singletary (185-94, college: Albany) who scored 22 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists. Israeli center Anton Shoutvin (206-89) chipped in 17 points and 9 rebounds. Four Iskra Svit players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was center Ivan Zidzik (208-90, college: NW Nazarene) who recorded 9 points and 10 rebounds and international guard Dalibor Hlivak (190-95) added 9 points and 4 assists respectively. Karlovka's coach Peter Ivanovic rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Iskra Svit maintains sixth place with 19-17 record. Karlovka lost eighth consecutive game. They keep the ninth position with 26 games lost. Iskra Svit will meet Nova Ves (#10) on the road in the next round. Karlovka will play against Levice and hope to secure a win.

27-year old power forward Svetozar Stamenkovic (206-F/C-90) had a great game in the last round for second-ranked Kosice and receives a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 4. He had a double-double of 25 points and 10 rebounds, while his team outclassed Nova Ves (#5, 2-2) with 39-point margin 113-74. Kosice maintains the 2nd position in Slovakian league.
