We bring you last week's top performances from Slovakians who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.

   #1. This week's number one is an experienced former international center Ondrej Soska (208-78, currently plays in Czech Republic). He was the major contributor in a Novy Jicin's victory against the seventh-ranked GBA Sparta (5-17) crushing them 100-77 in the Czech Republic 1Liga (second division) last Sunday. Soska scored 23 points, had 4 rebounds and made 2 blocks. BC Novy Jicin (7-14) is placed fifth in Places 13-20 group. It was his team's first victory after three consecutive loses. Soska has individually a very good season with high stats. He averages: 18.0ppg, 6.6rpg, 1.9apg, 1.1spg, 2FGP: 63.9%(53-83), 3FGP: 28.6% and FT: 89.7%. Soska played for the Slovakian senior national team twelve years ago.

   #2. Second place goes to former international point guard Anton Gavel (189-84, currently plays in Germany). He managed to help FC Bayern Muenchen in a victory against the 13th-ranked Walter Tigers (9-19) crushing them 85-63 in the German BBL on Sunday night. Gavel recorded 5 points in 22 minutes. FC Bayern Muenchen (20-3) is placed third in the BBL. It was his team's tenth consecutive victory in a row. This year Gavel's overall stats are: 5.6ppg, 1.8rpg, 3.5apg, 2FGP: 46.8%, 3FGP: 31.5% and FT: 86.7% in 24 games he played so far. He has a dual citizenship: Slovakian and German. Gavel played for the Slovakian national team in 2012.

   #3. The Slovakian player who performed third best last week abroad was former international small forward Dusan Pandula (196-84, currently plays in Czech Republic). He led BK Pardubice to an easy victory against the fifth-ranked BK Opava (15-13) crushing them 96-68 in the Czech Republic NBL in Saturday night's game. Pandula scored 12 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. BK JIP Pardubice (21-6) is placed second in Places 1-6 group. There are only four games left until the end of the Second Stage. So now every game will be critical. Pandula has relatively good stats this season: 11.4ppg, 3.0rpg, 1.8apg, 1.1spg, 2FGP: 49.1%, 3FGP: 35.7% and FT: 75.0%. He played for the Slovakian national team five years ago.

   #4. Point guard Roman Marko (194-86, currently plays in Czech Republic) could not help Basketbal Svitavy (12-16) in their last game. Despite Marko's good performance the first-placed Basketbal Svitavy (12-16) was edged 82-80 on the road by the lower-ranked (#4) MMCITE Brno in the Places 7-12 group. He scored 11 points, grabbed 4 rebounds and dished 8 assists in 34 minutes. There are only four games left until the end of the Second Stage. So now every game is very crucial. This year Marko's total stats are: 8.8ppg, 3.7rpg, 7.3apg and 2.0spg in six games. He used to play for the Slovakian national team back in 2013.

Former international forward Jakub Petras (211-94, currently plays college basketball in the States) was not able to help the Stony Brook in their game against the University of Illinois-Chicago (2-16) in the NCAA National Tournament Round 1. Petras scored 5 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. The Stony Brook was edged 71-69 at home by the University of Illinois-. The National Tournament Round 1 already ended in the NCAA. Petras has averaged so far 3.6ppg and 3.3rpg. He used to play for the Slovakian national team four years ago.

   #6. Center Maros Zeliznak (205-99, currently plays in Czech Republic) was not able to secure a victory for GBA Sparta (5-17) in their last game. Despite Zeliznak's good performance GBA Sparta (#7) lost 71-78 on the opponent's court to the lower-ranked (#8) Havirov in the Places 13-20 group. He recorded 14 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in 26 minutes. It was GBA Sparta's tenth consecutive loss in a row. There are only four games left until the end of the Second Stage. So now every game will be important. It's Zeliznak's first season with the team. Zeliznak has averaged so far 4.0ppg and 3.6rpg in 19 games. He is U18 international player who is currently on the Slovakian National Team roster.

   #7. U18 international power forward Matej Drgon (207-98, currently plays in Czech Republic) is a teammate of previously mentioned Maros Zeliznak and both played together in the last Czech Republic 1Liga game. Drgon couldn't help GBA Sparta (5-17) in their last game on Friday. Despite his good performance GBA Sparta (#7) was defeated 78-71 on the opponent's court by the lower-ranked Havirov (#8) in the Places 13-20 group. Drgon was the second best scorer with 14 points. He also added 4 rebounds. This season Drgon has relatively solid stats: 11.7ppg, 4.9rpg and 1.1apg. He is also Slovakian U18 national team player.

   #8. Small forward David Javorsky (197-99, currently plays in Czech Republic) is a teammate of previously mentioned Maros Zeliznak. He played also in the last Czech Republic 1Liga game facing Matej Drgon (above) in the other team. Javorsky couldn't help GBA Sparta (5-17) in their game against Havirov (3-19), despite his good performance on Friday night. He recorded 11 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 35 minutes. But GBA Sparta (#7) lost 71-78 on the opponent's court to the lower-ranked (#8) Havirov in the Places 13-20 group. Javorsky has averaged so far 4.9ppg, 1.6rpg and 1.1apg in 16 games. He plays currently for the Slovakian U18 national team.

   #9. Former international forward Jaro Moravek (203-92, currently studies in the States) couldn't help the Troy (10-8) in their game against the Duke University (12-7) in the NCAA National Tournament Round 1. Moravek cannot count Friday's game as one of the best ones. He scored only one point. The Troy was crushed 87-65 on their home court in Troy by the Duke University. The National Tournament Round 1 already ended in the NCAA. Moravek has been at the team for four years. Moravek has averaged so far 1.6ppg and 1.6rpg. He used to play for the Slovakian national team five years ago.

   #10. Small forward Jakub Kadasi (197-99, currently plays in Germany) contributed to an easy victory against the eighth-ranked Oberhaching (11-12) crushing them 94-60 in the German Regionalliga (fourth division) last Saturday. Kadasi recorded only 2 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 19 minutes. Science City Jena 2nd team (13-10) is placed sixth in South-East group. It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. There are only three games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be extremely important. Kadasi has averaged so far 5.7ppg, 1.6rpg and 1.1spg in 11 games. He is U18 international player who is currently on the Slovakian National Team roster.


One more player who has never been selected to any of national teams, but has Slovakian passport:

   #1. Kyle Kuric (193-G/F-89, college: Louisville, currently plays in Spain) led Gran Canaria to a victory over the 14th-ranked Sevilla (7-15) 89-70 in the Spanish Liga Endesa in Sunday night's game. He was MVP of the game. Kuric scored 14 points in 24 minutes. Herbalife Gran Canaria (15-8) is placed seventh in the Liga Endesa. It was his team's fifth consecutive victory in a row. Kuric has relatively good stats this year: 12.1ppg and 2.3rpg in 23 games he played so far. He is a naturalized American. Strangely Kuric has never played in Slovakia.

Serbian Aleksa Solevic (188-G-93, agency: Dynamics Global Management) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Nova Ves and that's him to receive a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 43. The 23-year old guard had the game-high 17 points adding six rebounds and six assists for Nova Ves in his team's victory, helping them to outclass Nitra (#11, 3-35) with 33-point margin 108-75. There will be only one (last) round of the Regular Season in SBL. The biggest surprise of round 43 was guest Lucenec's (#7) road victory over Handlova (#8) 65-61 on Saturday evening. They outrebounded Handlova 47-31 including a 35-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Serbian Strahinja Stojacic (197-92) fired 18 points and 5 rebounds for the winners.
