The Regular Season in SBL just started.

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Zilina (0-1) at the home court on Sunday night. Hosts were edged by Karlovka (1-0) 81-79. Forward Filip Lehman (197-87) stepped up and scored 10 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and the former international Roman Vido (204-88) chipped in 14 points. Karlovka's coach Peter Ivanovic used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side American center Brandon Holcomb (201-93, college: Radford) responded with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds. Karlovka's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Bratislava Inter Bratislava.
Very significant was Inter Bratislava's just 2-point road victory against Prievidza 97-95. Prievidza was very close to get their first win. But it seems they have to wait a little bit longer. Serbian Nemanja Barac (194-90, agency: 011 Sports) nailed 21 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side and Stefan Matovic accounted for 13 points and 12 rebounds. Inter Bratislava's coach Oliver Vidin allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Jamaican-British forward Ryan Martin (206-91, college: Tenn Tech) came up with 25 points and 6 rebounds for Prievidza in the defeat. Inter Bratislava's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Bratislava to the arena Karlovka.
Host Nova Ves (1-0) defeated Rieker KN (0-1) 91-78. Michael LAfricain fired 22 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for the winners. Nova Ves' coach Erich Korfanta used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Boban Tomic produced 26 points for lost side. Nova Ves will meet Handlova (#6) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Rieker KN will play against Levice and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Host Kosice (1-0) smashed Handlova (0-1) 100-72. Worth to mention a great performance of Rahmon Fletcher who helped to win the game recording 18 points and 9 assists. Handlova's coach Krunoslav Krajnovic gave up on the game allowing to play twelve players seeing no chance for a win. Kosice's next round opponent will be Zilina (#10) on the road and are hoping to win another game. Handlova will play against Nova Ves (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Zilina - Karlovka 79-81

Strangely Rieker KN outrebounded Nova Ves 43-31 including a 20-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. Canadian point guard Michael LAfricain (185-92, college: Ottawa) fired 22 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for the winners. Canadian forward Matt Marshall (198, college: Brock) chipped in a double-double by scoring 10 points and 14 rebounds. Nova Ves' coach Erich Korfanta used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Serbian Point guard Sasa Avramovic (193-PG-93, agency: BeoBasket) had a very impressive game in the last round for Iskra Svit, receiving a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 5. After 5 rounds played we can already see who rules in the SBL and who belongs to weaker ones. Coincidentally all hosts won their games. The game between Top Four teams took place in Levice. Third ranked host Levice (4-1) defeated second-ranked Kosice (3-2) 66-51. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Kosice. It was a key game for the top position in the league. KFUM Jamtland Basket(Basketligan)signed the 31year oldWilliam Walker(197-104kg-87, college:Bethel, IN)with a one-month contract.
