There were only 2 rounds played so far and it's still very beginning of the Regular Season in SBL.

Kosice (1-1) recorded a loss on the court of Zilina on Wednesday night. Visitors were edged by Zilina 90-89. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Zilina made 8 blocks. The best player for the winners was American point guard Walter Wright (178, college: Montana) who scored 30 points and 8 assists. The other American import forward Brandon Conley (201-93, college: ORU) chipped in 20 points and 9 rebounds. American point guard Rahmon Fletcher (177-88, college: Green Bay) produced 27 points and 5 assists for the guests. Zilina is looking forward to face Nova Ves (#6) on the road in the next round. Kosice will play against Karlovka (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Another exciting game was between Inter Bratislava and Karlovka where Inter Bratislava (2-0) beat Karlovka (1-1) on the road 87-75. The former international power forward Radoslav Rancik (205-79, college: St.Cloud St., agency: BeoBasket) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds. Nemanja Barac contributed with 16 points for the winners. Forward David Abraham (190-96) replied with 20 points for Karlovka. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Inter Bratislava will play against Iskra Svit (#7) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Karlovka will play against Kosice (#2) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
The game in Handlova was also quite interesting. Nova Ves (1-1) played at the court of Handlova (1-1). Handlova defeated Nova Ves 94-79 on Wednesday. Jovan Djordjevic scored 22 points and 4 steals to lead the charge for the winners. Handlova's coach Krunoslav Krajnovic used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Djordje Ninkovic responded with 20 points and 7 rebounds. Handlova will meet at home Levice (#5) in the next round. Nova Ves will play against Zilina and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Sasa Avramovic notched 38 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) to lead the effort. Prievidza's coach Ryan Pannone rotated eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Iskra Svit's next round opponent will be Inter Bratislava at home and it will be for sure the game of the week. Prievidza will play against Rieker KN (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

In the last game of round 2 Levice was defeated by Rieker KN in Komarno 91-85.

Zilina - Kosice 90-89

The game in Handlova was also quite interesting. Nova Ves (1-1) played at the court of Handlova (1-1). Handlova defeated Nova Ves 94-79 on Wednesday. Handlova dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Nova Ves' 40. Serbian swingman Jovan Djordjevic (198-93) scored 22 points and 4 steals to lead the charge for the winners and American guard Doug Brooks (193, college: VCU) chipped in 14 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Five Handlova players scored in double figures. Handlova's coach Krunoslav Krajnovic used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Bosnian center Djordje Ninkovic (210-93) responded with 20 points and 7 rebounds and Canadian guard Ryan Bennett (193, college: Brock) scored 17 points. Handlova will meet at home Levice (#5) in the next round. Nova Ves will play against Zilina and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

The game with biggest result difference took place in Svit. Local Iskra Svit (1-1) outscored Prievidza (0-2) 104-85. Iskra Svit made 23-of-27 charity shots (85.2 percent) during the game, while Prievidza only scored seven points from the stripe. They outrebounded Prievidza 43-23 including a 28-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Iskra Svit players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. 28 personal fouls committed by Prievidza helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Serbian point guard Sasa Avramovic (193-93, agency: BeoBasket) notched 38 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) to lead the effort and the former international forward Pavol Losonsky (203-88, college: Cal-Irvine) supported him with 23 points and 10 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). 27-year old power forward Svetozar Stamenkovic (206-F/C-90) had a great game in the last round for second-ranked Kosice and receives a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 4. He had a double-double of 25 points and 10 rebounds, while his team outclassed Nova Ves (#5, 2-2) with 39-point margin 113-74. Kosice maintains the 2nd position in Slovakian league.
