    2SKL Round 22: Ilirija clinch promotion - Apr 16, 2017


    The Regular Season in 2SKL just ended.

    The most important game in the last round took place in Kranj between third ranked Grosuplje (13-9) and fourth ranked Triglav (14-8) on Saturday night. Grosuplje was defeated by Triglav in a tough game on the road 68-76. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Grosuplje. Grosuplje was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. They outrebounded Grosuplje 38-26 including 31 on the defensive glass. Guard Aleksander Vojicic (192-87) fired a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Forward Matija Vravnik (198-92) chipped in 19 points and 7 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws). Guard Dejan Milasinovic (182-89) produced 11 points and 6 assists for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Triglav have an impressive six-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place. Grosuplje at the other side dropped to the fourth position with nine games lost. They share it with Plama Pur.
    An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Ljubljana. Top-ranked Ilirija faced their biggest opponent Sezana. Host Ilirija (22-0) defeated guests from Sezana (16-6) 79-70. Worth to mention a great performance of Bosnian forward Jasmin Hukic (204-79, agency: BeoBasket) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!), 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Zan-Mark Sisko contributed with 10 points for the winners. Ilirija's coach used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Milan Kovacevic (200-96) replied with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 14 rebounds for Sezana. Undefeated Ilirija have an impressive 22-game winning streak. Newly promoted Ilirija maintains first position with 22-0 record. Sezana at the other side keeps the second place with six games lost.
    Bottom-ranked Branik managed to get a fourth victory, breaking the four-game losing streak on Saturday night. This time they won against tenth-ranked Crnomelj in Maribor 85-81. Tadej Tabak scored 16 points and 6 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners. Branik's coach Ervin Dragsic used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side Ales Kunc responded with 18 points and 9 rebounds. Branik (4-18) moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Pingvini. Loser Crnomelj keeps the tenth position with 15 games lost.

    In the last two games of round 22 Konjice was defeated by Parklji in Bezigrad 78-63. Pingvini was beaten by Plama Pur at home 59-63.
    The best stats of 22th round was 22 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists by Tilen Zalar of Plama Pur.

    Elektra - Celje 69-88

    The game with biggest result difference took place in Sostanj. Local Elektra (8-14) was outscored by seventh ranked Celje (11-11) 88-69. The game was mostly controlled by Celje. Elektra was better in second period 14-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Elektra 43-28 including 17 on the offensive glass. Point guard Tadej Kostomaj (187-87) notched 20 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and guard Matic Perger (192-94) supported him with 21 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Celje's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 15 points and 4 assists by point guard Andraz Praunseis (-98) did not help to save the game for Elektra. Point guard Ziga Zagorc (188-84) added 17 points for lost side. Four Elektra players scored in double figures. Celje moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Parklji. Elektra at the other side keeps the ninth position with 14 games lost.

    Parklji - Konjice 78-63

    The game between closely ranked teams ended with 8th ranked Konjice's (9-13) road loss to seventh ranked Parklji (11-11) 63-78. The game was mostly controlled by Parklji. Konjice was better in third quarter 21-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The former international forward Zeljko Zagorac (204-81) notched a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds to lead the effort and guard Ziga Doljak (198-95) supported him with 19 points and 14 rebounds. Four Parklji players scored in double figures. Parklji's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even a double-double of 18 points and 12 rebounds by swingman Kristjan Muzel (194-91) did not help to save the game for Konjice. Forward Gasper Sevsek (198-93) added 9 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for lost side. Parklji moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Celje. Konjice lost eighth consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with 13 games lost.

    Branik - Crnomelj 85-81

    Bottom-ranked Branik managed to get a fourth victory, breaking the four-game losing streak on Saturday night. This time they won against tenth-ranked Crnomelj in Maribor 85-81. The hosts trailed by 9 points at the halftime before their 45-32 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Branik made 21-of-27 free shots (77.8 percent) during the game. They also forced 20 Crnomelj turnovers. Guard Tadej Tabak (188-97) scored 16 points and 6 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Valentin Tratnik (-95) chipped in 16 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Four Branik players scored in double figures. Branik's coach Ervin Dragsic used a ten-player rotation in such tough game.     An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Ljubljana. Top-ranked Ilirija faced their biggest opponent Sezana. Host Ilirija (22-0) defeated guests from Sezana (16-6) 79-70. The hosts were already 12 points ahead after 3 quarters before a 22-19 Sezana's run in the last quarter cut the lead to 79-70 at the end of the game. Ilirija made 16-of-20 charity shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of Bosnian forward Jasmin Hukic (204-79, agency: BeoBasket) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!), 11 rebounds and 4 assists.     No shocking result in a game in Ljubljana where fifth ranked Plama Pur (13-9) defeated bottom-ranked Pingvini (4-18) 63-59. The guests were ahead by 1 point but lost the second period ending it with a 1-point deficit before their 16-11 run, which allowed them to win the game. 26 personal fouls committed by Pingvini helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Guard Tilen Zalar (189-87) notched 22 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists to lead the effort and power forward Robi Hrescak (203-92) supported him with 17 points and 6 rebounds. Even 21 points and 7 rebounds by guard Urban Verbic (191-89) did not help to save the game for Pingvini. Forward Tilen Heco (190-92) added 13 points for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Plama Pur moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Grosuplje. Pingvini lost fourteenth consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the bottom position with 18 games lost.
