Ales Pipan is close to become the next head coach of Union Olimpija. The team is reportedly in final stage of the talks with the specialist to take over the bridge. He guided the Slovenian National Team in 2004/08 seasons. Ales Pipan also was at helm of the Polish National Team in 2011-12 seasons. Union Olimpija finished quite unsuccessful season in the second position in Slovenian Telemach League. They also failed to qualify for the Final Four at the Adriatic League.

Matjaz Smodis (205-F-79) retires on a high note from the basketball. The Slovenian star won the title last night with his Krka and announced that he would not continue his career.

Earlier he played for KK Cedevita Zagreb and before in CSKA. CSKA released Matjaz Smodis in late June 2011. He joined the squad early in 2005 and was a great player in all the seasons. This year he averaged 9.8ppg, 3.6rpg, 1.1apg, FGP: 50.0%, 3PT: 42.9%, FT: 78.6% in VTB-League and had 6.8ppg, 2.7rpg, FGP: 35.1%, 3PT: 30.4%, FT: 70.0% in EuroLeague.
