Dejan Mlakar
Dejan Mlakar (192-G-88) had an amazing evening in the last round for Jance Prit and that's him to receive a Eurobasket.com D2 Player of the Week award for round 25.
The 23-year old guard had the game-high 35 points adding nine rebounds and eight assists for Jance Prit as his team was edged out by Branik (#6, 14-11) in overtime 108-105. Jance Prit maintains the 12th position in Slovenian D2. Jance Prit is currently ranked second from the bottom. But it was their 16th lost game this season out of 25 games. In the team's last game Mlakar had a remarkable 77.8% from 2-point range. It's his second year at Jance Prit and it's hard to imagine this team without him. Mlakar has impressive league stats. He is in league's top in points (3rd best: 19.1ppg), assists (2nd best: 4.8apg) and averages solid 52.6% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 26-year old guard Matic Ribic (186-G-85) of Konjice. Ribic impressed basketball fans with 25 points and 4 rebounds. Of course Konjice cruised to a 79-72 relatively comfortable win over slightly lower-ranked Litija (#13, 8-17). The game was between two teams which are definitely not main contenders for the title. But Konjice managed to improve slightly their position in standings taking 11th place. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 8-15 record. Ribic is a newcomer at Konjice and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders.

The third best performed player last round was Matic Babic (90) of Hrastnik (#8). Babic showcased his all-around game by recording 18 points, seven rebounds and four assists in the last round. He was a key player of Hrastnik, leading his team to a 94-67 easy win against the higher-ranked Splosna plovba (#4, 17-9). The chances of Hrastnik ranking at the top of the league, however are very questionable as they have already lost 14 games, recording just eleven victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Babic could help Hrastnik to bring them higher in the standings. Babic has a very solid season. In 23 games in Slovenia he scored 6.6ppg.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Milan Klepo (211-C-80) of Postojna - 20 points and 8 rebounds
5. Davorin Skornik (211-C-81) of Konjice - 17 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists
6. Matic Korosec (194-F-89) of Triglav Strazisce - 24 points and 9 rebounds
7. Jan Tratnik (190-G-89) of Branik - 20 points and 3 rebounds
8. Beno Pungartnik (192-G-82) of Terme Olimia - 15 points and 12 rebounds
9. Davor Barovic (211-C-90) of Branik - 14 points and 10 rebounds
10. Klemen Panic (180-PG-91) of Litija - 17 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists

The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

Liga Nova KBM Round 8: Tajfun records their first victory - 4 days ago

Tajfun has finally registered their first victory this season after seven consecutive losses. The win is especially important as they defeated much higher ranked Hopsi Polzela (6-2) 61-57 on Monday. Hopsi Polzela was trailing by 10 points at halftime but managed to get 3-point lead after three quarters before a 21-14 charge of Tajfun, which allowed them to win the game. They made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of American center Kh...   [read more]
