Nice start for Italy at U18 EuroBasket in Bucharest. They outplayed Slovenia 69-57 for 1-0 record in Group D of the Preliminary Round. Serbia and defending champion Belgium are also placed to this pool. Three teams will advance to the Qualifying Round. Italy had minimum lead at the end of Q1, but they jumped to plus 10 at the halftime. Slovenia came to 35-33 at the middle of third period, but Italy closed it with 14-5 run. They increased lead to 19 points at the beginning of Q4 and game winner was already known. Erica Reggiani (175-G-94) scored 15 points in Italy and was their only player with double digits. Elena Ramo' (180-F-94) and Antonia Peresson (183-PG-95) posted 9 points each. Slovenia got double-double of 13 points and 12 rebounds from Eva Lisec (191-C-95). Alina Gjerkes (177-F-94) had 11 pts and 10 rebs, while Nina Gabrovsek (168-PG-94) stopped to 10 points and 5 boards. Slovenia's next rival will be Belgium. Italy will mete Serbia in Day Two.

Athlete Celje claimed its fifth consecutive Slovenian Championship and twelth overall, with a 79-59 win over Triglav in Game 3 of 2016 Final best-of-five series. The Lynx have released guards Nika Baric (5'7''-PG-92) and Courtney Clements(6'0''-G-89, college: San Diego St.). Per a news release from the team: Baric, a 5-7 guard, was originally selected by the Lynx in the second round (20th overall) of the 2012 WNBA Draft and signed with Minnesota on February 4, 2015.
