U18 SLOVENIA - U18 SLOVAKIA 54-72

Slovakia handed 72-54 loss to Slovenia on Tuesday in Bucharest. Thanks to this win Slovakia improved to 2-2 record in Group F of the second stage and kept its Quarterfinals hopes alive. Slovakia will meet Serbia in do-or-die game on Wednesday. The winner will end as No.4 in this pool and will book a spot for the QFinals. At the other side, Slovenia dropped to 1-3 with no chance to advance. Slovakia had 10-point lead at the halftime and later shined in Q4 to take the victory in this meeting. Quarters: 20-15, 15-10, 15-20, 22-9. Angelika Slamova (173-G-94) stepped up for the winners with 18 points and Zofia Hruscakova (190-C-95) added 17 pts, plus 9 boards. Barbora Balintova (176-G-94) collected 14 pts, 8 rebounds and 5 assists in this victory. In defeat, Sara Meden (170-PG-94) top-scored with 18 points. Eva Lisec (191-C-95) had 15 pts and 10 boards, while Nina Gabrovsek (168-PG-94) stopped to 6 points and 6 rebs. Wednesday is the last day of the second stage in Bucharest. Slovenia will play against Croatia.

Athlete Celje defeated Triglav 61-53 to capture the Slovenian Cup title. Shante Evans (184-F/C-91, college: Hofstra) collected 22 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists and was named the MVP of the 2017 Slovenian Cup Final-Four. She was Celje's lone player in double figures. Janina defetaed Maribor 75-56 on road to claim the last Championship stage spot. The second part of the season will start on March, 4.
