We bring you last week's top performances from Slovenians who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.

   #1. This week's number one is an international point guard Goran Dragic (190-86, currently plays in NBA). He led Phoenix Suns to a 2-point victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers (2-4) 107-105 in the NBA in Friday night's game. Dragic was MVP of the game. He scored 26 points (!!!) and added 4 assists in 34 minutes on the court. The Phoenix Suns have 3-3 record this season. But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen. Dragic has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 16.5ppg, 2.7rpg, 7.8apg, 1.5spg, 2FGP: 51.1%, 3FGP: 33.3% and FT: 74.4% in the six games he played so far. Dragic played for the Slovenian senior national team one years ago.

   #2. Second place goes to former international small forward Emir Preldzic (205-87, agency: Beo Basket, currently plays in Turkey). He led Fenerbahce Ulker to a victory against the 14th-ranked Besiktas (0-4) 83-74 in a derby game in the Turkish TBL last Monday. Preldzic recorded 12 points and added 7 passes. Fenerbahce Ulker Istanbul (4-0) is placed second in the TBL. So far his team won all four games in the Regular Season. But the season just started, so everything may happen. It's Preldzic's sixth year with the team. He is currently seventh on the league's list of best passers. Preldzic has very reliable stats this season: 11.0ppg, 5.0rpg, 4.5apg, 2FGP: 71.4%(15-21), 3FGP: 12.5% and FT: 57.9%. He has a dual citizenship: Slovenian and Turkish. Former Triglav Kranj starter played for the Slovenian national team in 2008.

   #3. The Slovenian player who performed third best last week abroad was an international power forward Erazem Lorbek (209-84, college: Michigan St., currently plays in Spain), who plays in the Spanish ACB. Lorbek could not help Regal FC Barcelona (3-3) in their last game. Despite his very good performance Regal FC Barcelona lost 69-80 on the road to the much higher-ranked (#4) Caja Laboral. Lorbek was the top scorer with 17 points. He also added 4 rebounds in 25 minutes. They ended the series of three consecutive victories. But the season is still in it's first stage and everything can happen. Lorbek is one of the most experienced players in a team as it's his fourth year in Regal FC Barcelona's roster. Lorbek has relatively good stats this season: 11.2ppg, 2.7rpg, 1.2apg, 2FGP: 59.0%(23-39), 3FGP: 18.8% in the six games. He played for the Slovenian national team one years ago.

   #4. Point guard Beno Udrih (194-82, currently plays in NBA) contributed to a 3-point Milwaukee Bucks' victory against the Cleveland Cavaliers (2-4) 105-102 in the NBA in Saturday night's game. Udrih scored 11 points and added 5 assists. The Milwaukee Bucks have 3-1 record this season. But there are still lots of games to play and it's a long way to go. This season Udrih has relatively solid stats: 9.7ppg, 2.3rpg and 3.3apg. He used to play for the Slovenian national team back in 2010.

Former international forward Bostjan Nachbar (207-80, currently plays in Euroleague) was the major contributor in a Brose Baskets' victory against the closely-ranked Lietuvos rytas (1-4) 84-78 in the Euroleague last Friday. Nachbar recorded 22 points, 6 rebounds and 2 blocks in 23 minutes. Brose Baskets Bamberg (2-3) is placed fourth in group D. It's Nachbar's first season with the team. Nachbar is currently second on the list of top scorers with 18.6ppg. This year he also averages: 4.8rpg and 1.4apg in the five games. Nachbar used to play for the Slovenian national team two years ago.

   #6. Center Mirza Begic (217-85, currently plays in Spain) contributed to an easy victory against the 13th-ranked UCAM Murcia (3-4) 79-64 in the Spanish ACB on Sunday night. He scored 9 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. Real Madrid (6-0) is placed first in the ACB. So far his team won all six games in the Regular Season. Begic's overall stats this season are: 5.5ppg and 2.8rpg. He is international player as he played for the Slovenian senior team one years ago.

   #7. Former U18 international guard Bojan Krivec (188-87, currently plays in Croatia) contributed to a Kvarner 2010's victory against the sixth-ranked Djuro Djakovic (3-3) 69-56 in the Croatian A1 in Saturday night's game. Krivec had a double-double by scoring 13 points and making 12 passes. He also added and 5 steals in 35 minutes. KK Kvarner 2010 Rijeka (4-1) is placed second in the A1. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. Krivec is ranked first on the list of the best passers in the league with 6.2apg. He also averaged so far 7.2ppg and 1.6spg in the five games. Krivec used to play for the Slovenian U18 national team seven years ago.

   #8. Forward Dragisa Drobnjak (200-77, also represented by Beo Basket, currently plays in Eurocup) helped his Belgian team Base Oostende win their game against the closely-ranked Panionios (0-1) 84-65 in the Eurocup last Wednesday. He recorded 11 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. It was his first game for Base Oostende this season. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. His team is placed first in the Eurocup. Drobnjak used to play for the Slovenian national team back in 2008.

   #9. Former international power forward Gasper Vidmar (211-87, currently plays in Euroleague) was not able to help Besiktas (3-2) in their game against CSKA Moscow (4-1) in the Euroleague. He recorded 8 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in only 14 minutes. The third-placed Besiktas was crushed 85-58 at home by the second-ranked CSKA Moscow in the group D of Euroleague. This year Vidmar's overall stats are: 4.8ppg and 4.6rpg in the five games. He used to play for the Slovenian national team two years ago.

   #10. Point guard Aleksandar Capin (186-82, another player represented by Beo Basket, currently plays in Adriatic League) helped his Serbian team Radnicki KG win their game against the closely-ranked Cibona (4-4) 85-81 in the Adriatic League in Saturday night's game. Capin scored 21 points, made 4 passes and 3 steals. Radnicki Kragujevac (4-4) is placed fourth in the Adriatic League. Capin is currently seventh on the league's list of top scorers and also on the list of best passers (first place). This season he has very good stats: 14.0ppg, 2.2rpg, 5.2apg and 1.6spg. Capin is a former international player as four years ago he still played for the Slovenian senior national team.

   #11. International swingman Zoran Dragic (196-89, currently plays in Euroleague) managed to help Unicaja Malaga in a victory against the fifth-ranked Chalon/Saor 88-78 in the Euroleague last Thursday. He scored 5 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 24 minutes. This year Dragic's total stats are: 4.0ppg and 2.8rpg in the five games. He used to play for the Slovenian national team last year.

   #12. International power forward Miha Zupan (205-82, currently plays in Turkey), who plays in the Turkish TBL was not able to secure a victory for Turk Telekom (2-3) in their last game. Despite Zupan's very good performance Turk Telekom lost 66-77 on their home court in Ankara to the higher-ranked (#7) Aliaga. He was the second best scorer with 19 points. Zupan also added 6 rebounds in 30 minutes. Zupan has reliable stats this year: 11.2ppg, 7.4rpg and 1.8apg in the five games. He used to play for the Slovenian national team last year.

   #13. Former U20 international center Salih Nuhanovic (208-82, currently plays in Czech Republic), who plays in the Czech Republic NBL couldn't help Levice (4-6) in their last game on Saturday. Despite Nuhanovic's very good performance Levice was edged 80-77 on their home court in Levice by the lower-ranked BK Usti nad Labem (#10). He was the top scorer with 23 points. Nuhanovic also added 9 rebounds and made 4 blocks. Nuhanovic is currently third on the list of best blockers. He has very solid stats this season: 11.9ppg, 6.0rpg, 1.1apg and 1.5bpg. Nuhanovic used to play for the Slovenian U20 national team ten years ago.

   #14. Former international shooting guard Sasha Vujacic (201-84, currently plays in Euroleague) couldn't help Anadolu Efes in their game against Zalgiris in the Euroleague. He scored only 4 points in 15 minutes. His team lost 64-77. Vujacic's stats this year are: 10.6ppg and 2.6rpg in the five games. He used to play for the Slovenian national team back in 2009.

   #15. International guard Jaka Lakovic (186-78, currently plays in Eurocup) helped his Turkish team Galatasaray win their game against the closely-ranked Trefl Sopot crushing them 94-65 in the Eurocup last Wednesday. Lakovic recorded only 2 points in 15 minutes. It was his first game for Galatasaray this season. Lakovic used to play for the Slovenian national team last year.


The list of other players, who all have Slovenian passport but never been selected to any of Slovenian national teams:

   #1. Rasid Mahalbasic (211-C-90, currently plays in Euroleague), who plays in Poland could not help Asseco Prokom Gdynia (1-4) to beat Montepaschi Siena (2-3). Mahalbasic scored 9 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. But Asseco Prokom Gdynia (#6) was crushed 101-66 on the road by the higher-ranked Montepaschi Siena (#4) in the group B of Euroleague. Mahalbasic has averaged so far 6.0ppg and 4.2rpg. He has a dual citizenship: Austrian and Slovenian.

   #2. Vladimir Boisa (209-C/F-81, agency: World Sport Agency, currently plays in Georgia) contributed to an easy victory against the league outsider STU (0-4) crushing them 95-42 in a derby game in the Georgian Superleague in Saturday night's game. Boisa recorded 7 points, 13 rebounds and 3 assists. BC Armia Tbilisi (3-0) is placed second in the Superleague. So far his team won all three games in the Regular Season. Boisa has averaged so far 5.0ppg, 9.0rpg and 2.0apg. He is another player who holds two passports: Slovenian and Georgian.

   #3. Jure Balazic (204-F-80, currently plays in Turkey), who plays in the Turkish TBL was not able to help Erdemir (1-4) in their last game on Monday. Despite his good performance Erdemir was defeated 75-70 in Ankara by the higher-ranked Hacettepe (#9). Balazic was the second best scorer with 14 points. Balazic has averaged so far 9.8ppg and 5.0rpg.

   #4. Vlado Ilievski (190-PG-80, agency: Beo Basket, currently plays in Adriatic League) contributed to a 2-point Cedevita's victory against the closely-ranked Igokea (6-2) 78-76 in the Adriatic League in Monday night's game. He recorded 6 points in 16 minutes. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. KK Cedevita Zagreb (5-2) is placed third in the Adriatic League. Ilievski has averaged so far 3.3ppg and 1.1apg in the seven games he played so far. He has both FYR Macedonian and Slovenian nationalities.

   #5. Mladen Loncarevic (209-C/F-91, college: Weatherford JC, currently plays in Bosnia) contributed to a KK Radnik Bijeljina's victory against the 12th-ranked Zrinjski HT (1-3) 77-66 in the Bosnia and Herzegovina Division I in Saturday night's game. Loncarevic recorded 7 points. KK Radnik Bijeljina (3-1) is placed third in the Division I. Loncarevic has averaged so far 6.7ppg and 1.7rpg. He also holds two passports: Slovenian and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

   #6. Damir Zeleznik (185-G-80, currently plays in Austria) helped Xion Dukes win their game against the sixth-ranked UBSC Graz 103-85 in the Austrian A Bundesliga last Sunday. Zeleznik scored 7 points, had 4 rebounds and dished 3 assists in 20 minutes. Zeleznik has averaged so far 6.2ppg, 2.0rpg and 2.4apg in the five games. He holds both Bosnia and Herzegovina and Slovenian passports.

   #7. Uros Benacek (206-C-92, currently plays in Czech Republic) was not able to secure a victory for BC Kolin in their game against BK Prostejov in the Czech Republic NBL. Benacek cannot count Saturday's game as one of the best ones. He recorded only 3 points in 14 minutes. His team lost 78-82. This year Benacek averages just 2.8ppg in the five games.

   #8. Marko Milicevic (204-F-82, currently plays in Greece) helped Ikaroi Serron win their game against one of league's weakest teams Niki Volou 71-55 in the Greek A2 (second division) in Saturday night's game. He scored 6 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 17 minutes. Milicevic has averaged so far 7.0ppg and 3.4rpg in the five games. He has dual citizenship: Serbian and Slovenian.

   #9. Rene Zvan (182-PG-87, currently plays in Slovakia) managed to help BK Edymax SPU Nitra in a victory against one of league's weakest teams Prievidza 76-65 in the Slovakian Extraliga on Saturday night. Zvan recorded only 2 points in 12 minutes. Zvan has averaged so far 2.6ppg, 1.4rpg and 1.6apg in the five games.

Union Olimpija outscored Rogaska 52-37 in the second half of the Finals Game 4 for a 94-78 victory to win their first Slovenian League championship title since the 2008-09 season and 16th overall.
