We bring you last week's top performances from Slovenians who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.

   #1. This week's number one is former international shooting guard Sasha Vujacic (201-84, currently plays in Turkey). He led Anadolu Efes to a victory over the closely-ranked Karsiyaka (10-3) 71-65 in the Turkish TBL in Sunday night's game. Vujacic was MVP of the game. He scored 18 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 26 minutes on the court. Anadolu Efes Istanbul (10-2) is placed third in the TBL. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. Vujacic is currently fourth on the list of most steals with 1.6spg. He also averaged so far 12.8ppg, 3.7rpg, 1.3apg, 2FGP: 54.5%, 3FGP: 43.8% and FT: 81.8% in the 11 games he played so far. Vujacic played for the Slovenian senior national team three years ago.

   #2. Second place goes to former international power forward Bostjan Nachbar (207-80, currently plays in Germany). He was the main contributor in a Brose Baskets Bamberg's victory against the 15th-ranked Telekom Baskets (5-9) 92-78 in the German BBL last Saturday. Nachbar was the best player in that game. He scored 25 points, grabbed 4 rebounds and made 3 blocks. Brose Baskets Bamberg (12-2) is placed first in the BBL. It's Nachbar's first season with the team. Nachbar is ranked ninth on the list of the top scorers in the league. He has very reliable stats this season: 14.5ppg, 4.8rpg, 2.0apg, 2FGP: 45.6%, 3FGP: 46.8%(29-62) and FT: 89.5%. Nachbar played for the Slovenian national team in 2010.

   #3. The Slovenian player who performed third best last week abroad was former international small forward Emir Preldzic (205-87, agency: Beo Basket, currently plays in Turkey). Preldzic was the major contributor in a 3-point Fenerbahce Ulker's victory against the league outsider Antalya (2-11) 86-83 in the Turkish TBL in Saturday night's game. He scored 12 points and added 4 passes. Fenerbahce Ulker Istanbul (11-1) is placed first in the TBL. It was his team's seventh consecutive victory in a row. Preldzic is one of the most experienced players in a team as it's his sixth year in Fenerbahce Ulker's roster. This season Preldzic averages: 9.5ppg, 4.7rpg, 3.9apg, 2FGP: 55.6%(30-54), 3FGP: 33.3% and FT: 66.7%. He has a dual citizenship: Slovenian and Turkish. Former Triglav Kranj starter played for the Slovenian national team four years ago.

Power forward Erazem Lorbek (209-84, college: Michigan St., currently plays in Euroleague) contributed to an easy victory against the sixth-ranked Fenerbahce Ulker (0-1) crushing them 100-78 in the Euroleague last Friday. Lorbek recorded 12 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 21 minutes. Regal FC Barcelona (1-0) is placed first in group F. Lorbek has been at the team for four years. This season his overall stats are: 9.4ppg, 2.9rpg and 1.3apg in the 10 games. Lorbek used to play for the Slovenian national team last year.

Former international power forward Gasper Vidmar (211-87, currently plays in Turkey) contributed to an easy victory against the 14th-ranked Olin Edirne (3-10) 83-67 in the Turkish TBL in Sunday night's game. He scored 11 points, had 8 rebounds and dished 6 assists in 24 minutes. Besiktas Istanbul (7-5) is placed seventh in the TBL. This year Vidmar's total stats are: 8.3ppg, 6.5rpg and 1.3apg in the 12 games. He used to play for the Slovenian national team two years ago.

Point guard Aleksandar Capin (186-82, also represented by Beo Basket, currently plays in Adriatic League) contributed to a Radnicki KG's victory against the closely-ranked Cedevita (9-6) 85-77 in the Adriatic League last Sunday. Capin was the top player that evening. He scored 23 points and added 8 assists. Radnicki Kragujevac (8-7) is placed eighth in the Adriatic League. Capin belongs to league's top scorers (ranked #8) and also on the list of best passers (second place). This season he has very good stats: 13.8ppg, 1.9rpg, 4.6apg and 1.4spg. Capin is a former international player as he played for the Slovenian senior team four years ago.

   #7. International point guard Goran Dragic (190-86, currently plays in NBA), who plays in the NBA could not help the Phoenix Suns (11-19) in their last game. Despite his good performance the Phoenix Suns were edged 96-93 on the road by the Portland Trail Blazers. Dragic scored 10 points and added 5 assists in 33 minutes. It was Suns' fourth consecutive loss in a row. Dragic has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 14.1ppg, 2.8rpg, 6.2apg and 1.6spg in the 28 games. Dragic used to play for the Slovenian national team last year.

Swingman Zoran Dragic (196-89, currently plays in Euroleague) helped his Spanish team Unicaja Malaga win their game against the seventh-ranked Brose Baskets Bamberg (0-1) 85-82 in the Euroleague in Thursday night's game. He recorded 8 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. Unicaja Malaga (1-0) is placed third in group E. Dragic has averaged so far 5.5ppg and 3.0rpg. He used to play for the Slovenian national team last year.

Former international forward Dragisa Drobnjak (200-77, another player represented by Beo Basket, currently plays in Belgium) helped Base Oostende win their game against the closely-ranked Spirou Charleroi (5-4) 69-60 in the Belgian Ethias League last Sunday. Drobnjak was the top player that evening. He recorded 16 points in 28 minutes. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Telenet Oostende (6-4) is placed third in the Ethias League. Drobnjak has relatively good stats this year: 11.2ppg, 3.3rpg and 1.3apg in the six games. He used to play for the Slovenian national team four years ago.

   #10. Power forward Primoz Brezec (216-79, currently plays in Russia) was not able to help BC Nizhny Novgorod (2-6) in their game against Spartak St.Petersburg (6-3) in the Russian PBL. Despite his very good performance on Sunday night Brezec was the top scorer with 20 points. This season Brezec has relatively solid stats: 10.7ppg and 5.2rpg. He is a former international player as two years ago he still played for the Slovenian senior national team.

   #11. International center Mirza Begic (217-85, currently plays in Spain) managed to help Real Madrid in a victory against the league outsider Lagun Aro GBC 85-71 in the Spanish ACB in Sunday night's game. Begic scored only 3 points in 13 minutes. Begic has averaged so far 5.8ppg, 3.1rpg and 1.1bpg in the 14 games. He used to play for the Slovenian national team last year.

   #12. Former U20 international center Salih Nuhanovic (208-82, currently plays in Czech Republic) helped Levice win their game against the closely-ranked BC Kolin 74-66 in the Czech Republic NBL last Saturday. Nuhanovic was the top player that evening. He recorded a double-double by scoring 21 points and getting 12 rebounds. Nuhanovic also added 2 blocks. Nuhanovic is currently second on the list of best blockers. He has very solid stats this season: 12.4ppg, 7.0rpg and 1.6bpg. Nuhanovic used to play for the Slovenian U20 national team back in 2002.

   #13. Former international point guard Beno Udrih (194-82, currently plays in NBA) helped Milwaukee Bucks win their game against the Brooklyn Nets 108-93 in the NBA on Wednesday night. He scored only 4 points in 16 minutes. Udrih has reliable stats this year: 8.0ppg, 2.6rpg and 3.1apg in the 14 games. He used to play for the Slovenian national team two years ago.

   #14. Former U22 international forward Elvis Kadic (201-80, agency: Kotnik Sports Agency, currently plays in Austria) helped Gussing Knights win their game against the closely-ranked BC Vienna 86-78 in the Austrian A Bundesliga in Saturday night's game. Kadic was the top player that evening. He scored 23 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. Kadic's stats this season are: 14.1ppg and 3.9rpg. He used to play for the Slovenian U22 national team back in 2001.

   #15. International power forward Miha Zupan (205-82, currently plays in Turkey) was not able to secure a victory for Turk Telekom in their game against TED Kolejliler in the Turkish TBL. Zupan scored 9 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 27 minutes. His team was crushed by 34 points 89-55. His stats this year are: 11.3ppg, 5.8rpg and 1.5apg in the 12 games. Zupan used to play for the Slovenian national team last year.


The list of other players, who all have Slovenian passport but never been selected to any of Slovenian national teams:

   #1. Rasid Mahalbasic (211-C-90, currently plays in Poland) was the major contributor in an Asseco Prokom Gdynia's victory against one of league's weakest teams Kotwica (4-10) crushing them 85-61 in the Polish TBL on Saturday night. He had a double-double by scoring 16 points and getting 17 rebounds in 22 minutes. Asseco Prokom Gdynia (10-4) is placed second in the TBL. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. This year Mahalbasic averages: 9.1ppg and 5.3rpg in the 14 games he played so far. He has a dual citizenship: Austrian and Slovenian.

   #2. Jure Balazic (204-F-80, currently plays in Turkey) led Erdemir to a victory over the closely-ranked Mersin (7-5) 96-86 in the Turkish TBL on Sunday night. He was the top player that evening. Balazic scored 28 points (!!!) and grabbed 8 rebounds. Erdemirspor Eregli (5-7) is placed eighth in the TBL. Balazic has relatively good stats this season: 11.9ppg and 5.5rpg.

   #3. Rene Zvan (182-PG-87, currently plays in Slovakia), who plays in the Slovakian Extraliga could not help Nitra (12-7) in their last game. Despite his good performance Nitra was edged 103-101 on the road by the one of league's weakest teams (#8) Handlova. Zvan scored 14 points in 25 minutes. It was Nitra's first loss after three consecutive victories. Zvan has averaged so far 4.2ppg, 1.3rpg and 2.5apg in the 16 games.

   #4. Damir Zeleznik (185-G-80, currently plays in Austria) was not able to help one of league's weakest teams Xion Dukes (8-5) in their game against Kapfenberg Bulls (10-3) in the Austrian A Bundesliga. He recorded 7 points and added 5 assists in 19 minutes. Xion Dukes lost 83-87 in Kapfenberg to the higher-ranked (#3) Bulls. Zeleznik has averaged so far 5.8ppg, 2.2rpg and 2.8apg in the 12 games. He is another player who holds two passports: Bosnia and Herzegovina and Slovenian.

   #5. Uros Benacek (206-C-92, currently plays in Czech Republic) was not able to secure a victory for BC Kolin (11-8) in their game against Levice (9-9) in the Czech Republic NBL. Benacek cannot count Saturday's game as one of the best ones. He recorded only 2 points in 20 minutes. BC Kolin lost 66-74 on the opponent's court to the lower-ranked (#7) Levice. It was BC Kolin's first loss after three consecutive victories. Benacek has averaged so far 3.5ppg and 1.9rpg in the 15 games.

After a decade apart, Zlatorog Lasko and Bosnian Ramo Rizvic(200-F-87) have reunited. Rizvic arrives from Student Mostar, where he averaged 20.4 points, 8.7 rebounds, 3.9 assists, 0.8 steals and 0.1 blocks in 21 Bosnian League games last season. Rizvic grew up with Celik Zenica and in 2005 moved to Zlatorog Lasko, where he played just one Adriatic League game. Then he returned to Bosnia to Kakanj . Lastovka fortified its roster bv inking Gezim Morina (203-C/F-92), Bojan Radulovic (211-C-92) and Bosnian national team member Nikola Gajic(195-G/F-91, college: SF Austin) for the upcoming season. Gezim Morina (203-C/F-92) started last season with Kosovari side Sigal Prishtina and in March moved to LTH Castings,where he averaged 14.8 points, 5.1 rebounds, 1.7 assist, 0.4 steals and 0.3 blocks in 12 Slovenian League games. Union Olimpija are still very active in the current transfer period. They continued building a roster for the 2016-17 season by signing promised Jan Barbaric(188-G-95) through the 2017-18 season. Barbaric arrives from Portoroz, where he avaraged 18.2 points, 6.4 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.9 steals and 27 Slovenian League games last season.
