We bring you last week's top performances from Slovenians who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.

   #1. This week's number one is former international point guard Goran Dragic (190-86, currently plays in NBA). He led Phoenix Suns to a victory over the Los Angeles Clippers (32-12) 93-88 in the NBA in Thursday night's game. Dragic was MVP of the game. He recorded 24 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists in 34 minutes on the court. The Phoenix Suns have not so impressive 15-28 record this season. Dragic has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 14.2ppg, 2.8rpg, 6.2apg, 1.5spg, 2FGP: 51.3%, 3FGP: 32.1% and FT: 72.1% in the 41 games he played so far. Dragic played for the Slovenian senior national team two years ago.

   #2. Second place goes to former international small forward Emir Preldzic (205-87, agency: Beo Basket, currently plays in Euroleague), who plays in Turkey. He could not help Fenerbahce Ulker (1-4) in their last game on Friday. Despite Preldzic's very good performance the seventh-placed Fenerbahce Ulker was crushed 97-75 on the road by the higher-ranked Caja Laboral (#3) in the group F of Euroleague. He was the top scorer with 16 points. Preldzic also added 3 passes. It's Preldzic's sixth season with the team. His overall stats this year are: 9.7ppg, 2.4rpg, 3.0apg, 2FGP: 60.7%(37-61), 3FGP: 34.8% and FT: 71.7%. Preldzic has a dual citizenship: Slovenian and Turkish. Former Triglav Kranj starter played for the Slovenian national team in 2008.

   #3. The Slovenian player who performed third best last week abroad was former international power forward Erazem Lorbek (209-84, college: Michigan St., currently plays in Spain). He contributed to a Regal FC Barcelona's victory against the 14th-ranked Blancos de Rueda (7-11) 88-82 in the Spanish ACB on Sunday night. Lorbek scored 13 points in a mere 18 minutes. Regal FC Barcelona (10-8) is placed sixth in the ACB. Lorbek is one of the most experienced players in a team as it's his fourth year in Regal FC Barcelona's roster. This season his overall stats are: 9.9ppg, 3.2rpg, 2FGP: 62.9%(61-97), 3FGP: 22.2% and FT: 74.3% in the 18 games. Lorbek played for the Slovenian national team two years ago.

   #4. Shooting guard Sasha Vujacic (201-84, currently plays in Euroleague) was the main contributor in an Anadolu Efes' victory against the sixth-ranked Zalgiris (1-4) 56-52 in the Euroleague in Friday night's game. He was the best player in that game. Vujacic scored 12 points. Anadolu Efes Istanbul (4-1) is placed third in group E. It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. Vujacic has relatively good stats this season: 12.1ppg, 3.0rpg, 1.3apg and 1.1spg. He used to play for the Slovenian national team back in 2009.

Former international point guard Aleksandar Capin (186-82, also represented by Beo Basket, currently plays in Adriatic League) helped his Serbian team Radnicki KG win their game against the league outsider Szolnok (5-14) 78-66 in the Adriatic League last Saturday. Capin was the top player that evening. He had a double-double by scoring 22 points and making 10 passes. Capin also added 6 rebounds in 40 minutes. Radnicki Kragujevac (10-8) is placed sixth in the Adriatic League. It's Capin's first season with the team. Capin is the league's top scorer and also on the list of best passers (first place). He has very impressive stats this year: 16.1ppg, 2.4rpg, 5.3apg and 1.3spg in the 15 games. Capin is another player who holds two passports: Slovenian and Serbian. He used to play for the Slovenian national team five years ago.

   #6. Power forward Gasper Vidmar (211-87, currently plays in Euroleague), who plays in Turkey was not able to help the league outsider Besiktas (0-5) in their last game. Despite Vidmar's good performance Besiktas (#8) lost 57-63 in Siena to the leading Montepaschi in the group F of Euroleague. He was the second best scorer with 14 points. Vidmar also added 6 rebounds in 25 minutes. So far Besiktas lost all five games in the Top 16. This year Vidmar's total stats are: 8.2ppg, 5.2rpg and 1.2bpg in the 13 games. He is a former international player as he played for the Slovenian senior team three years ago.

Former international center Mirza Begic (217-85, currently plays in Euroleague) helped his Spanish team Real Madrid win their game against the fourth-ranked Panathinaikos (3-2) 58-54 in the Euroleague last Friday. Begic scored 6 points, grabbed 5 rebounds and made 3 blocks. Real Madrid (5-0) is placed first in group E. So far his team won all five games in the Top 16. Begic has averaged so far 4.7ppg and 3.3rpg. He used to play for the Slovenian national team two years ago.

   #8. Guard Sani Becirovic (196-81, currently plays in Iran) helped Petrochimi win their game against the closely-ranked Mahram (12-3) 87-84 in the Iranian Superleague on Thursday night. Becirovic was the top player that evening. He recorded 24 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists in 34 minutes. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Petrochimi Bandar Imam Harbour (15-1) is placed first in the Superleague. It was his team's fifth consecutive victory in a row. There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. Becirovic has very impressive stats this year: 25.5ppg, 8.0rpg, 6.5apg and 2.5spg in the two games. He used to play for the Slovenian national team back in 2010.

Former U18 international guard Bojan Krivec (188-87, currently plays in Croatia) was the major contributor in a Kvarner 2010's victory against the tenth-ranked KK Dubrovnik (1-11) 81-73 in the Croatian A1 in Saturday night's game. Krivec scored 19 points, made 4 passes and 3 steals. KK Kvarner 2010 Rijeka (10-2) is placed first in the A1. Krivec is currently first on the league's list of best passers. He has averaged so far 9.9ppg, 2.2rpg, 5.3apg and 1.4spg. Krivec used to play for the Slovenian U18 national team eight years ago.

Power forward Bostjan Nachbar (207-80, currently plays in Euroleague), who plays in Germany was not able to secure a victory for the league outsider Brose Baskets Bamberg (0-5) in their last game. Despite his very good performance Brose Baskets Bamberg (#8) was badly defeated 82-63 in Berlin by the higher-ranked (#7) ALBA in the group E of Euroleague. Nachbar was the top scorer with 15 points in 32 minutes. So far Brose Baskets Bamberg lost all five games in the Top 16. Nachbar is ranked second on the list of the top scorers in the league with 17.7ppg. This year he also averages: 4.1rpg and 1.5apg in the 15 games. Nachbar is a former international player as three years ago he still played for the Slovenian senior national team.

   #11. Former international point guard Beno Udrih (194-82, currently plays in NBA) couldn't help the Milwaukee Bucks in their game against the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA. He scored 7 points and added 8 passes. His team were defeated 113-108 in the NBA. This season Udrih has relatively solid stats: 7.5ppg, 2.2rpg and 3.8apg. He used to play for the Slovenian national team three years ago.

   #12. Former international forward Marko Milic (201-77, currently plays in Iran) faced previously mentioned Sani Becirovic in the Iranian Superleague last game. Milic, who plays in the Iranian Superleague couldn't help Mahram (12-3) in their last game. Despite his very good performance Mahram was edged 87-84 at home by the leading Petrochimi. Milic had a double-double by scoring 16 points and getting 11 rebounds. He also added and 4 steals in 21 minutes. Milic is currently fifth on the list of top scorers and also on the list of best rebounders (first place). He has very impressive stats this year: 16.0ppg, 9.2rpg, 1.8apg and 1.4spg in the five games. Milic used to play for the Slovenian national team back in 2006.

   #13. Former international forward Zeljko Zagorac (204-81, currently plays in Hungary), who plays in the Hungarian A Division couldn't help Falco-Szova (8-9) in their last game on Saturday. Despite his very good performance Falco-Szova was edged 92-91 on their home court in Szombathely by the lower-ranked Kormend (#10). Zagorac recorded a double-double by scoring 26 points and getting 18 rebounds (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!). This season he has very high stats. Zagorac averages: 21.3ppg, 11.7rpg, 1.7apg and 1.7spg. He used to play for the Slovenian national team five years ago.

   #14. Former international swingman Zoran Dragic (196-89, currently plays in Euroleague) helped his Spanish team Unicaja Malaga win their game against the second-ranked CSKA Moscow 94-81 in the Euroleague in Friday night's game. Dragic scored 7 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. Dragic has averaged so far 5.4ppg and 3.1rpg. He used to play for the Slovenian national team back in 2011.

   #15. Former international power forward Goran Jurak (203-77, currently plays in Italy), who plays in the Italian SerieA couldn't help Angelico Biella (3-13) in their last game. Despite Jurak's very good performance Angelico Biella was crushed 100-72 in Sassari by the second-ranked Banco di Sardegna. He was the top scorer with 17 points. Jurak also added 8 rebounds in 32 minutes. Jurak has averaged so far 8.6ppg, 4.8rpg and 1.2spg in the 16 games. He used to play for the Slovenian national team seven years ago.

   #1. Experienced Vlado Ilievski (190-PG-80, agency: Beo Basket, currently plays in Adriatic League) led his Croatian team Cedevita to a victory over the eighth-ranked Un.Olimpija (10-9) 73-67 in the Adriatic League on Saturday night. Ilievski was the top player that evening. He scored 13 points and added 8 passes. KK Cedevita Zagreb (11-8) is placed fourth in the Adriatic League. Ilievski's total stats this season are: 5.1ppg and 2.1apg. He has a dual citizenship: FYR Macedonian and Slovenian.

   #2. Rasid Mahalbasic (211-C-90, currently plays in Poland) contributed to a 1-point Asseco Prokom Gdynia's victory against the league outsider Rosa Radom (3-15) 76-75 in the Polish TBL on Saturday night. Mahalbasic scored 9 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 18 minutes. Asseco Prokom Gdynia (12-6) is placed fourth in the TBL. There are only four games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. Mahalbasic has averaged so far 8.7ppg and 5.3rpg in the 18 games he played so far. He is another player who holds two passports: Austrian and Slovenian.

   #3. Damir Zeleznik (185-G-80, currently plays in Austria) contributed to an easy victory against the ninth-ranked UBSC Graz (6-12) crushing them 91-68 in the Austrian A Bundesliga in Friday night's game. Zeleznik scored 11 points, had 7 rebounds and dished 6 assists in 26 minutes. Xion Dukes Klosterneuburg (12-6) is placed fourth in the A Bundesliga. It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game is very crucial. Zeleznik has averaged so far 7.2ppg, 2.7rpg, 3.5apg and 1.1spg in the 16 games. He has both Bosnia and Herzegovina and Slovenian nationalities.

   #4. Rene Zvan (182-PG-87, currently plays in Slovakia) contributed to Nitra's victory against the league outsider Svit (5-19) 92-81 in the Slovakian Extraliga last Saturday. Zvan scored 12 points. BK Edymax SPU Nitra (15-9) is placed third in the Extraliga. Zvan has averaged so far 4.0ppg, 1.3rpg and 2.2apg.

   #5. Uros Benacek (206-C-92, currently plays in Czech Republic) contributed to an easy victory against the tenth-ranked Levharti Chomutov (8-15) 95-80 in the Czech Republic NBL on Saturday night. He scored 8 points in only 12 minutes. BC Kolin (13-10) is placed sixth in the NBL. Benacek's team will play only one more game in the Regular Season. And now that game is quite important. Benacek has averaged so far 4.4ppg and 1.8rpg in the 19 games.

   #6. Marko Milicevic (204-F-82, currently plays in Greece) contributed to a 2-point Ikaroi Serron's victory against the closely-ranked Lavrio 89-87 in the Greek A2 (second division) last Saturday. He recorded 6 points. Milicevic has averaged so far 8.6ppg and 4.1rpg. He also holds two passports: Serbian and Slovenian.

   #7. Nejc Strnad (190-PG-83, currently plays in Greece), who plays in the Greek A1 could not help one of league's weakest teams Ikaros to beat Apollon Patras. Strnad cannot count Saturday's game as one of the best ones. He scored only 2 points in 6 minutes on the court. His team was badly defeated by 20 points 95-75. This year Strnad averages just 3.1ppg in the 13 games.

Maj Kovacevic (ex Siroki Primorka) signs at Zadar - 5 days ago

KK Zadar (A1) landed 26-year old Slovenian guard Maj Kovacevic (196-85kg-90). He played most recently at Siroki Primorka in Bosnia and Herzegovina Division I. In 30 games he averaged 13.4ppg, 2.0rpg, 1.9apg and 1.2spg last season. Kovacevic helped them to make it to the cup final. The previous (14-15) season he played at Pagrati in A2 where in 25 games he had 12.1ppg, 2.4rpg and 1.3apg.
