We bring you last week's top performances from Slovenians who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.

   #1. This week's number one is former international point guard Goran Dragic (190-86, currently plays in NBA), who plays in the NBA. He could not help the Phoenix Suns (16-31) in their last game. Despite Dragic's very good performance the Phoenix Suns lost 99-109 at home to the Dallas Mavericks. He was the second best scorer with 19 points. Dragic also added 8 rebounds and dished 9 assists in 38 minutes on the court. Dragic has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 14.2ppg, 2.9rpg, 6.4apg, 1.4spg, 2FGP: 51.5%, 3FGP: 31.4% and FT: 72.9% in the 45 games he played so far. Dragic played for the Slovenian senior national team two years ago.

   #2. Second place goes to former international power forward Erazem Lorbek (209-84, college: Michigan St., currently plays in Spain). He was the major contributor in an overtime Regal FC Barcelona's victory against the closely-ranked Gescrap BB (12-7) 87-85 in the Spanish ACB last Sunday. Lorbek recorded 18 points. Regal FC Barcelona (11-8) is placed sixth in the ACB. It's Lorbek's fourth season with the team. He has relatively good stats this year: 10.3ppg, 3.2rpg, 2FGP: 62.9%(66-105), 3FGP: 24.0% and FT: 75.7%. Lorbek played for the Slovenian national team in 2011.

   #3. The Slovenian player who performed third best last week abroad was former international point guard Beno Udrih (194-82, currently plays in NBA). He contributed to an easy victory against the Detroit Pistons (18-29) crushing them 117-90 in the NBA on Tuesday night. Udrih scored 7 points, had 4 rebounds and dished 11 assists in 26 minutes. The Milwaukee Bucks have 24-21 record this season. This year Udrih has relatively solid stats: 7.4ppg, 2.3rpg, 3.9apg, 2FGP: 54.7%, 3FGP: 28.2% and FT: 72.4% in the 31 games. He played for the Slovenian national team three years ago.

   #4. Shooting guard Sasha Vujacic (201-84, currently plays in Euroleague) led his Turkish team Anadolu Efes to a victory over the fifth-ranked Zalgiris (2-4) 56-52 in the Euroleague in Friday night's game. Vujacic was MVP of the game. He scored 12 points. Anadolu Efes Istanbul (5-1) is placed second in group E. It was his team's fifth consecutive victory in a row. Vujacic has reliable stats this season: 11.8ppg, 3.1rpg and 1.2apg. He used to play for the Slovenian national team back in 2009.

   #5. Former international center Mirza Begic (217-85, currently plays in Euroleague) contributed to a Real Madrid's victory against the fourth-ranked Panathinaikos (4-2) 58-54 in the Euroleague last Friday. Begic scored 6 points, grabbed 5 rebounds and made 3 blocks in 16 minutes. Real Madrid (6-0) is placed first in group E. So far his team won all six games in the Top 16. This year Begic's overall stats are: 4.4ppg and 3.4rpg in the 16 games. He has a dual citizenship: Bosnia and Herzegovina and Slovenian. Begic used to play for the Slovenian national team two years ago.

   #6. Power forward Gasper Vidmar (211-87, currently plays in Euroleague), who plays in Turkey was not able to help the league outsider Besiktas (0-6) in their last game on Friday. Despite his good performance the eighth-placed Besiktas was defeated 63-57 on the road by the second-ranked Montepaschi Siena in the group F of Euroleague. Vidmar was the second best scorer with 14 points. He also added 6 rebounds. Vidmar's total stats this season are: 8.4ppg, 5.2rpg and 1.1bpg. He is a former international player as he played for the Slovenian senior team three years ago.

   #7. Former international point guard Aleksandar Capin (186-82, agency: Beo Basket, currently plays in Adriatic League) was the main contributor in a 2-point Radnicki KG's victory against the league leader Partizan (15-0) 78-76 in the Adriatic League in Monday night's game. Capin was the best player in that game. He recorded 23 points and added 6 assists in 40 minutes. Radnicki Kragujevac (11-8) is placed sixth in the Adriatic League. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. Capin is currently first on the league's list of top scorers and also on the list of best passers (first place). He has very impressive stats this year: 16.6ppg, 2.4rpg, 5.4apg and 1.3spg in the 16 games. Capin used to play for the Slovenian national team five years ago.

   #8. Guard Bojan Krivec (188-87, currently plays in Croatia) helped Kvarner 2010 win their game against the tenth-ranked KK Dubrovnik (1-12) 81-73 in the Croatian A1 last Saturday. He scored 19 points, made 4 passes and 3 steals. KK Kvarner 2010 Rijeka (10-3) is placed first in the A1. It's Krivec's first season with the team. Krivec is ranked first on the list of the best passers in the league. His total stats this season are: 9.7ppg, 2.2rpg, 5.2apg and 1.5spg. Krivec used to play for the Slovenian U18 national team back in 2005.

   #9. An experienced former international power forward Bostjan Nachbar (207-80, currently plays in Euroleague) was not able to secure a victory for the league outsider Brose Baskets Bamberg (0-6) in their game against Panathinaikos (4-2) in the Euroleague, despite his very good performance on Friday night. He was the top scorer with 16 points in 25 minutes. But Brose Baskets Bamberg (#8) was edged 76-73 in Athens by the higher-ranked (#4) Panathinaikos in the group E of Euroleague. So far Brose Baskets Bamberg lost all six games in the Top 16. Nachbar belongs to league's top scorers and is ranked #2 with 17.6ppg. This year his other stats are: 4.0rpg and 1.4apg in the 16 games. Nachbar used to play for the Slovenian national team three years ago.

   #10. Forward Dragisa Drobnjak (200-77, also represented by Beo Basket, currently plays in Belgium) helped Base Oostende win their game against the league outsider VOO Verviers-Pepinster (3-11) crushing them 99-71 in the Belgian Ethias League last Saturday. He scored 13 points, had 5 rebounds and dished 3 assists in 27 minutes. Telenet Oostende (11-4) is placed first in the Ethias League. It was his team's seventh consecutive victory in a row. Drobnjak's stats this year are: 10.1ppg, 4.2rpg and 1.5apg in the 11 games. He is a former international player as five years ago he still played for the Slovenian senior national team.

   #11. Former international swingman Zoran Dragic (196-89, currently plays in Euroleague) helped his Spanish team Unicaja Malaga win their game against the third-ranked CSKA Moscow 94-81 in the Euroleague in Friday night's game. Dragic scored 7 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 15 minutes. This year Dragic's total stats are: 5.1ppg and 3.1rpg in the 16 games. He used to play for the Slovenian national team two years ago.

   #12. Former international guard Jaka Lakovic (186-78, currently plays in Italy) couldn't help Air Avellino in their game against Cimberio Varese in the Italian SerieA. Despite his very good performance last Sunday Lakovic scored 14 points and added 9 assists (was perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line). It was his first game for Air Avellino this season. Lakovic used to play for the Slovenian national team back in 2011.

   #13. Former international forward Zeljko Zagorac (204-81, currently plays in Hungary) couldn't help Falco-Szova in their game against Jaszberenyi in the Hungarian A Division, despite his very good performance on Saturday night. He had a double-double by scoring 21 points and getting 14 rebounds in 39 minutes. But his team lost 71-83. Zagorac has very impressive stats this year: 21.3ppg, 12.3rpg, 1.5apg and 1.5spg in the four games. He used to play for the Slovenian national team five years ago.

   #14. Former U20 international center Salih Nuhanovic (208-82, currently plays in Czech Republic) couldn't help Levice in their game against BK Usti nad Labem in the Czech Republic NBL. Despite his very good performance in Sunday night's game Nuhanovic recorded a double-double by scoring 14 points and getting 13 rebounds. He also added 4 blocks. Nuhanovic is ranked fifth on the list of the best rebounders in the league and also on the list of best blockers (second place). He has very reliable stats this season: 12.7ppg, 7.6rpg and 1.6bpg. Nuhanovic used to play for the Slovenian U20 national team back in 2002.

   #15. Former international power forward Miha Zupan (205-82, currently plays in Turkey) couldn't help Turk Telekom in their game against Besiktas in the Turkish TBL. Despite his good performance on Monday night Zupan was the second best scorer with 11 points. He also added 7 rebounds. Zupan averaged so far 11.4ppg, 6.0rpg and 1.6apg. He used to play for the Slovenian national team two years ago.


The list of other players, who all have Slovenian passport but never been selected to any of Slovenian national teams:

   #1. Experienced Jure Balazic (204-F-80, currently plays in Turkey), who plays in the Turkish TBL could not help Erdemir (6-10) in their last game on Sunday. Despite his very good performance Erdemir was defeated 82-77 on the road by the leading Fenerbahce Ulker. Balazic was the top scorer with 24 points. He also added 5 rebounds. Balazic averaged so far 12.4ppg and 5.3rpg.

   #2. Vlado Ilievski (190-PG-80, agency: Beo Basket, currently plays in Adriatic League) contributed to a 1-point Cedevita's victory against the 12th-ranked KK Zadar (7-13) 74-73 in the Adriatic League on Saturday night. Ilievski recorded 8 points and added 4 assists. KK Cedevita Zagreb (11-8) is placed fifth in the Adriatic League. Ilievski's total stats this season are: 5.1ppg and 2.1apg. He has a dual citizenship: FYR Macedonian and Slovenian.

   #3. Rasid Mahalbasic (211-C-90, currently plays in Poland) managed to help Asseco Prokom Gdynia in a victory against the seventh-ranked Energa Czarni (9-9) crushing them 85-60 in the Polish TBL last Saturday. He scored only 4 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in 16 minutes. Asseco Prokom Gdynia (13-6) is placed third in the TBL. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. There are only three games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. Mahalbasic has averaged so far 8.5ppg and 5.3rpg in the 19 games he played so far. He is another player who holds two passports: Austrian and Slovenian.

   #4. Damir Zeleznik (185-G-80, currently plays in Austria) led Xion Dukes to a victory against the closely-ranked Raiffeisen Wels (10-9) 90-83 in the Austrian A Bundesliga in Saturday night's game. Zeleznik scored 16 points and added 3 passes in 25 minutes. Xion Dukes Klosterneuburg (13-6) is placed fourth in the A Bundesliga. His team will play only one more game in the Regular Season. And now that game is very crucial. Zeleznik has averaged so far 7.7ppg, 2.6rpg, 3.5apg and 1.1spg in the 17 games. He has both Bosnia and Herzegovina and Slovenian nationalities.

   #5. Rene Zvan (182-PG-87, currently plays in Slovakia) contributed to Nitra's victory against the league outsider Svit (5-19) 92-81 in the Slovakian Extraliga in Saturday night's game. Zvan scored 12 points. BK Edymax SPU Nitra (15-9) is placed third in the Extraliga. Zvan has averaged so far 4.0ppg, 1.3rpg and 2.2apg.

   #6. Uros Benacek (206-C-92, currently plays in Czech Republic) contributed to an easy victory against the tenth-ranked Levharti Chomutov 95-80 in the Czech Republic NBL in Saturday night's game. He scored 8 points in only 12 minutes. Benacek has averaged so far 4.2ppg and 1.8rpg in the 20 games.

   #7. Marko Milicevic (204-F-82, currently plays in Greece) contributed to a 1-point Ikaroi Serron's victory against the closely-ranked Agia Paraskevis 74-73 in the Greek A2 (second division) last Saturday. He scored 10 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 16 minutes. Milicevic has averaged so far 8.7ppg and 4.2rpg in the 14 games. He also holds two passports: Serbian and Slovenian.

   #8. Nejc Strnad (190-PG-83, currently plays in Greece) was not able to help one of league's weakest teams Ikaros in their game against Apollon Patras in the Greek A1. Strnad cannot count Saturday's game as one of the best ones. He scored only 2 points. His team was badly defeated by 20 points 95-75. This season Strnad averages just 3.1ppg.

Both semifinal series are tied 1-1 with the decisive Game 3 Thursday. Union Olimpija defeated Zlatorog 90-88 and Helios Suns beat Krka 73-68. Homecourt is still a huge advantage in 2016 Slovenian Play-Off season. Krka and Zlatorog both won their Game 1 semi-final match ups at hote to now nedd to win just of potentially two matches.
