Former international Forward Anja Klavzar (179-F-90) had a very impressive game in the last round for Ilrija, receiving a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 5 (Second Stage). The 26-year old player had a double-double of 15 points and 12 rebounds, while her team beat Maribor (#5, 3-11) 72-57. Ilrija maintains the 3rd position in Slovenian SKL. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier in Second Stage. Ilrija will need more victories to improve their 9-6 record. Klavzar turned to be Ilrija's top player in her first season with the team. Anja Klavzar has solid league stats. She is in league's top in rebounds (5th best: 8.0rpg) and averages impressive 56.4% FGP.
The second best player in last round's games was another Ilrija's star - young Ela Micunovic (182-SG-97). Micunovic had a very good evening with a double-double of 11 points and 11 rebounds. Of course together with Klavzar she helped Ilrija with another comfortable win 72-57 over slightly lower-ranked Maribor (#5, 3-11) being unquestionably team leader. Ilrija's 3rd position in the standings has not changed. Her team's 9-6 record is not bad at all. Micunovic is well-known at Ilrija and together with Anja Klavzar are proven team's leaders.
Third on the list of top players last round was forward Ajsa Zdovc (183-F-91) of Konjice (#4). Zdovc scored 18 points and grabbed five rebounds. She was a key player of Konjice, leading her team to a 68-51 easy win against slightly lower-ranked Janina (#6, 2-12). Konjice can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have rather bad season and 4-11 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Too bad for Zdovc she does not play for a better team. But maybe if she did, her season stats would not be that high. Zdovc has a very solid season. In 21 games in Slovenia she scored 10.9ppg.
Other top performing players last week: 4. Shante Evans (184-F/C-91) of Athlete Celje - 15 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists 5. Polona Zalar (175-G-91) of Ilrija - 15 points, 12 rebounds and 3 assists 6. Teja Cresnik (98) of Maribor - 13 points and 7 rebounds 7. Ela Stergar (187-C-96) of Maribor - 12 points, 9 rebounds and 2 assists 8. Urska Zibert (174-G-93) of Triglav - 16 points and 2 assists 9. Larisa Ocvirk (184-SF-97) of Athlete Celje - 15 points and 8 rebounds 10. Iva Slonjsak (183-SG-97) of Athlete Celje - 8 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists
The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
