Here is the weekly review of the top performing Slovenian players, who play currently abroad.

   #1. This week's number one is former international point guard Goran Dragic (190-86, currently plays in NBA), who plays in the NBA. He could not help the Phoenix Suns (17-34) in their last game. Despite Dragic's very good performance the Phoenix Suns lost 99-109 at home to the Dallas Mavericks. He was the second best scorer with 19 points. Dragic also added 8 rebounds and dished 9 assists in 38 minutes on the court. Dragic has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 14.3ppg, 2.8rpg, 6.4apg, 1.4spg, 2FGP: 51.1%, 3FGP: 31.5% and FT: 74.4% in the 49 games he played so far. Dragic played for the Slovenian senior national team two years ago.

   #2. Second place goes to former international power forward Erazem Lorbek (209-84, college: Michigan St., currently plays in Spain). He was the major contributor in a Regal FC Barcelona's victory against one of league's weakest teams Assignia Manresa (4-16) 88-76 in the Spanish ACB last Sunday. Lorbek scored 16 points. Regal FC Barcelona (12-8) is placed fifth in the ACB. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. It's Lorbek's fourth season with the team. He has relatively good stats this year: 10.6ppg, 3.2rpg, 2FGP: 63.1%(70-111), 3FGP: 26.4% and FT: 76.9%. Lorbek played for the Slovenian national team in 2011.

   #3. The Slovenian player who performed third best last week abroad was former international shooting guard Sasha Vujacic (201-84, currently plays in Turkey). He led Anadolu Efes to a victory over one of league's weakest teams Hacettepe (3-14) crushing them 91-61 in the Turkish TBL on Monday night. Vujacic was MVP of the game. He scored 15 points in 20 minutes. Anadolu Efes Istanbul (14-3) is placed fifth in the TBL. Vujacic is ranked third on the list of the most steals in the league with 1.7spg. This year his other stats are: 13.2ppg, 3.4rpg, 1.4apg, 2FGP: 54.4%, 3FGP: 45.5%(25-55) and FT: 84.4% in the 16 games. Vujacic played for the Slovenian national team four years ago.

   #4. Center Mirza Begic (217-85, currently plays in Spain) contributed to an easy victory against the sixth-ranked Gescrap BB (12-8) crushing them 94-74 in the Spanish ACB in Sunday night's game. He scored 8 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. Real Madrid (19-1) is placed first in the ACB. It was his team's fifth consecutive victory in a row. Begic's overall stats this season are: 5.4ppg and 2.9rpg. He has a dual citizenship: Bosnia and Herzegovina and Slovenian. Begic used to play for the Slovenian national team back in 2011.

An experienced former international power forward Bostjan Nachbar (207-80, currently plays in Euroleague), who plays in Germany was not able to help the league outsider Brose Baskets Bamberg (0-6) in their last game. Despite his very good performance the eighth-placed Brose Baskets Bamberg was edged 76-73 on the road by the higher-ranked (#4) Panathinaikos in the group E of Euroleague. Nachbar was the top scorer with 16 points in 25 minutes. So far Brose Baskets Bamberg lost all six games in the Top 16. It's Nachbar's first season with the team. Nachbar belongs to league's top scorers and is ranked #2 with 17.6ppg. This year he also averages: 4.0rpg and 1.4apg in the 16 games. Nachbar used to play for the Slovenian national team three years ago.

   #6. Power forward Miha Zupan (205-82, currently plays in Turkey) was the main contributor in a Turk Telekom's victory against the closely-ranked Antalya (3-14) 88-77 in the Turkish TBL on Sunday night. He was the best player in that game. Zupan scored 22 points, grabbed 6 rebounds and made 3 blocks. Turk Telekom Ankara (5-12) is placed 13th in the TBL. They ended the series of three consecutive loses. This season Zupan has relatively solid stats: 12.1ppg, 6.0rpg and 1.6apg. He is a former international player as he played for the Slovenian senior team two years ago.

Former international point guard Beno Udrih (194-82, currently plays in NBA) was not able to secure a victory for the Milwaukee Bucks (25-23) in their game against the Utah Jazz (28-23) in the NBA. Udrih scored 8 points in 26 minutes. The Milwaukee Bucks lost 86-100 in Salt Lake City to the Utah Jazz. Udrih has reliable stats this year: 7.4ppg, 2.2rpg and 3.7apg in the 34 games. He used to play for the Slovenian national team three years ago.

Forward Dragisa Drobnjak (200-77, agency: Beo Basket, currently plays in Belgium) contributed to an easy victory against the league outsider VOO Verviers-Pepinster (3-12) crushing them 99-71 in the Belgian Ethias League last Saturday. Drobnjak scored 13 points, had 5 rebounds and dished 3 assists. Telenet Oostende (12-4) is placed first in the Ethias League. It was his team's eighth consecutive victory in a row. Drobnjak averaged so far 10.2ppg, 4.3rpg and 1.4apg. He used to play for the Slovenian national team back in 2008.

Former international point guard Aleksandar Capin (186-82, also represented by Beo Basket, currently plays in Adriatic League) contributed to an easy victory against the closely-ranked Krka (8-12) crushing them 77-52 in the Adriatic League on Sunday night. Capin scored 12 points, made 6 passes and 3 steals in 40 minutes. Radnicki Kragujevac (12-8) is placed sixth in the Adriatic League. It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. Capin is currently first on the list of top scorers and also on the list of best passers (first place). He has very impressive stats this year: 16.3ppg, 2.4rpg, 5.4apg and 1.4spg in the 17 games. Capin used to play for the Slovenian national team five years ago.

   #10. Guard Bojan Krivec (188-87, currently plays in Croatia) couldn't help Kvarner 2010 (10-3) in their game against Vrijednosnice OS (6-7) in the Croatian A1. He recorded 7 points and added 5 assists. Kvarner 2010 was edged 63-62 in Darda by the lower-ranked Vrijednosnice OS (#7). Krivec is the league's best passer. His overall stats this season are: 9.7ppg, 2.2rpg, 5.2apg and 1.5spg. Krivec is a former U18 international player as eight years ago he still played for the Slovenian national team.

   #11. Former international forward Zeljko Zagorac (204-81, currently plays in Hungary) contributed to an easy victory against the third-ranked Kaposvari 93-78 in the Hungarian A Division on Saturday night. He was the top player that evening. Zagorac recorded a double-double by scoring 18 points and getting 13 rebounds. This season Zagorac has very high stats. He averages: 20.6ppg, 12.4rpg, 1.2apg and 1.4spg. Zagorac used to play for the Slovenian national team five years ago.

   #12. Former international power forward Gasper Vidmar (211-87, currently plays in Turkey) couldn't help Besiktas in their game against Karsiyaka in the Turkish TBL. He cannot count Sunday's game as one of the best ones. Vidmar scored only 2 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 17 minutes. His team lost 59-70. This year Vidmar's overall stats are: 8.1ppg, 6.2rpg and 1.1apg in the 16 games. He used to play for the Slovenian national team back in 2010.

   #13. Former U22 international forward Elvis Kadic (201-80, agency: Kotnik Sports Agency, currently plays in Austria) contributed to a 1-point Gussing Knights' victory against the closely-ranked Furstenfeld Panthers 90-89 in the Austrian A Bundesliga on Monday night. Kadic scored 20 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in a mere 18 minutes. Kadic's stats this year are: 14.9ppg and 3.7rpg in the 19 games. He used to play for the Slovenian U22 national team twelve years ago.

   #14. Former international power forward Goran Jurak (203-77, currently plays in Italy) contributed to an overtime Angelico Biella's victory against the tenth-ranked Juvecaserta 81-80 in the Italian SerieA in Sunday night's game. Jurak scored 9 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. Jurak's total stats this season are: 8.3ppg, 4.9rpg and 1.2spg. He used to play for the Slovenian national team back in 2006.

   #15. Former U21 international point guard Matej Venta (188-84, currently plays in Czech Republic), who plays in the Czech Republic NBL couldn't help BK Lions Hradec in their last game. Despite Venta's very good performance BK Lions Hradec (#3) was crushed 82-60 in Nymburk by the lower-ranked (#5) CEZ Nymburk in the Group A2. He was the top scorer with 17 points. Venta also added 5 rebounds and 3 assists in 30 minutes. Venta has very impressive stats this year: 17.0ppg, 7.0rpg and 3.0apg in the three games. He used to play for the Slovenian U21 national team eight years ago.


The list of other players, who all have Slovenian passport but never been selected to any of Slovenian national teams:

   #1. Experienced Jure Balazic (204-F-80, currently plays in Turkey) led Erdemir to a 2-point victory against the closely-ranked Gaziantep (5-12) 91-89 in the Turkish TBL last Sunday. He scored 12 points in 24 minutes. Erdemirspor Eregli (7-10) is placed eighth in the TBL. Balazic's stats this year are: 12.4ppg and 5.3rpg in the 16 games he played so far.

   #2. Rasid Mahalbasic (211-C-90, currently plays in Poland) managed to help Asseco Prokom Gdynia to win against the closely-ranked Anwil (12-7) 71-59 in the Polish TBL last Saturday. Mahalbasic recorded only 4 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Asseco Prokom Gdynia (13-6) is placed third in the TBL. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. There are only three games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. Mahalbasic's total stats this season are: 8.5ppg and 5.3rpg. He has a dual citizenship: Austrian and Slovenian.

   #3. Damir Zeleznik (185-G-80, currently plays in Austria) led Xion Dukes to a victory against the closely-ranked Raiffeisen Wels (11-9) 90-83 in the Austrian A Bundesliga in Saturday night's game. Zeleznik scored 16 points and added 3 passes in 25 minutes. Xion Dukes Klosterneuburg (13-6) is placed fourth in the A Bundesliga. His team will play only one more game in the Regular Season. And now that game is very crucial. This year Zeleznik's total stats are: 7.7ppg, 2.6rpg, 3.5apg and 1.1spg in the 17 games. He is another player who holds two passports: Bosnia and Herzegovina and Slovenian.

   #4. Marko Milicevic (204-F-82, currently plays in Greece) contributed to a 1-point Ikaroi Serron's victory against the closely-ranked Agia Paraskevis (8-8) 74-73 in the Greek A2 (second division) in Saturday night's game. Milicevic scored 10 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 16 minutes. AOK Ikaroi Serron (10-5) is placed fifth in the A2. This year Milicevic's total stats are: 8.7ppg and 4.2rpg in the 14 games. He has both Serbian and Slovenian nationalities.

Krka Novo Mesto (Liga Nova KBM) are bringing in 24-year old center Ziga Fifolt (211-115kg-93). It is actually his comeback to Novo Mesto as he has played here before. Fifolt played last season at Tajfun (Liga Nova KBM). In 32 games he had 7.2ppg and 4.5rpg. The previous (15-16) season Fifolt was tested by Vanoli Cremona (Serie A) in Italian league. Krka Novo Mesto (Liga Nova KBM) agreed terms with 21-year old Slovenian guard Tim Osolnik (190-96). He played last season at Gorica in Croatian A1 league, but left the team in Mar.'17. In 11 games he had just 2.4ppg and 1.4rpg. The previous (15-16) season Osolnik played at Slovan (2SKL) where in 15 games he recorded 9.5ppg, 3.5rpg, 2.3apg and 1.5spg. Krka started started building a roster for the upcoming season by signing its former players Domen Bratoz (189-PG-93), Maj Kovacevic (196-G-90), Dalibor Djapa (205-F/C-84) plus Marko Josilo(200-G-92). Domen Bratoz (189-PG-93) arrives from Estonian side Avis Utilitas Rapla, where he averaged 13.4 points, 4.3 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 1.9 steals and 0.1 blocks in 34 Alexela KML games and 12.6 points, 4.4 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 1.6 steals and 0.1 blocks in 14 Baltic League games last season.
