Here is the weekly review of the top performing Slovenian players, who play currently abroad.

   #1. This week's number one is former international point guard Goran Dragic (190-86, currently plays in NBA), who plays in the NBA. He could not help the Phoenix Suns (17-36) in their last game. Despite Dragic's very good performance the Phoenix Suns were crushed 127-96 on the road by the Oklahoma City Thunder. He was the second best scorer with 19 points. Dragic also added 6 passes in 36 minutes on the court. It was Suns' fourth consecutive loss in a row. It's Dragic's first season with the team. He has individually a very good year with high stats. Dragic averages: 14.0ppg, 2.8rpg, 6.3apg, 1.4spg, 2FGP: 50.1%, 3FGP: 31.4% and FT: 74.3% in the 51 games he played so far. He played for the Slovenian senior national team two years ago.

Mirza Begic

   #2. Second place goes to former international center Mirza Begic (217-85, currently plays in Euroleague), who plays in Spain. Begic was not able to help Real Madrid (6-1) in their last game on Thursday. Despite his good performance the second-placed Real Madrid was edged 74-72 in Istanbul by the leading Anadolu Efes in the group E of Euroleague. Begic recorded 10 points (made all of his six free throws). Begic's overall stats this season are: 4.8ppg, 3.4rpg, 2FGP: 54.8% and FT: 76.5%. He has a dual citizenship: Bosnia and Herzegovina and Slovenian. Former Triglav Kranj starter played for the Slovenian national team in 2011.

   #3. The Slovenian player who performed third best last week abroad was former international shooting guard Sasha Vujacic (201-84, currently plays in Euroleague) faced previously mentioned Mirza Begic in the Euroleague last game. Vujacic contributed to a 2-point Anadolu Efes' victory against the closely-ranked Real Madrid (6-1) 74-72. He recorded 9 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 20 minutes. Vujacic has relatively good stats this year: 11.6ppg, 3.2rpg, 1.2apg, 2FGP: 40.5%, 3FGP: 43.3% and FT: 78.3% in the 17 games. He played for the Slovenian national team four years ago.

   #4. An experienced forward Marko Milic (201-77, currently plays in Iran) was the major contributor in Mahram's victory against the closely-ranked Azad (7-10) 76-61 in a derby game in the Iranian Superleague in Thursday night's game. Milic recorded a double-double by scoring 18 points and getting 13 rebounds. Mahram Tehran (14-3) is placed third in the Superleague. Milic is currently sixth on the list of top scorers and also on the list of best rebounders (first place). He has very reliable stats this season: 14.7ppg, 9.0rpg and 1.3apg. Milic used to play for the Slovenian national team back in 2006.

Former international power forward Erazem Lorbek (209-84, college: Michigan St., currently plays in Euroleague) contributed to a Regal FC Barcelona's victory against the sixth-ranked Maccabi T-A (2-5) 82-77 in the Euroleague last Thursday. He recorded 7 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 28 minutes. Regal FC Barcelona (6-1) is placed first in group F. It was his team's fifth consecutive victory in a row. Lorbek is one of the most experienced players in a team as it's his fourth year in Regal FC Barcelona's roster. This season Lorbek's overall stats are: 9.0ppg, 3.5rpg and 1.2apg in the 16 games. He used to play for the Slovenian national team two years ago.

   #6. Power forward Gasper Vidmar (211-87, currently plays in Euroleague) was not able to secure a victory for the league outsider Besiktas (0-7) in their game against Fenerbahce Ulker (2-5) in the Euroleague. Despite his good performance on Friday night Vidmar recorded 10 points, 5 rebounds and 4 blocks. Vidmar is currently fifth on the list of best blockers. His total stats this season are: 8.5ppg, 5.2rpg and 1.3bpg. Vidmar is a former international player as he played for the Slovenian senior team three years ago.

Former U21 international point guard Matej Venta (188-84, currently plays in Czech Republic) couldn't help BK Lions Hradec (0-1) in their game against Basketbal Svitavy (1-1) in the Czech Republic NBL, despite his very good performance in Wednesday night's game. He was the top scorer with 27 points. Venta also added 8 rebounds, 6 assists and 3 steals in 36 minutes. But BK Lions Hradec (#7) was badly defeated 92-75 in Svitavy by the higher-ranked (#3) Basketbal in the Group A2. Venta has very impressive stats this year: 19.5ppg, 7.3rpg, 3.8apg and 1.3spg in the four games. He used to play for the Slovenian U21 national team eight years ago.

   #8. Guard Bojan Krivec (188-87, currently plays in Croatia) led Kvarner 2010 to an easy victory against the sixth-ranked Djuro Djakovic (7-7) crushing them 84-63 in the Croatian A1 last Saturday. Krivec scored 13 points and added 5 passes. KK Kvarner 2010 Rijeka (11-3) is placed first in the A1. There are only four games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. Krivec is currently first on the league's list of best passers. His total stats this season are: 9.9ppg, 2.1rpg, 5.2apg and 1.5spg. Krivec used to play for the Slovenian U18 national team back in 2005.

Former international power forward Bostjan Nachbar (207-80, currently plays in Germany) helped Brose Baskets Bamberg win their game against the closely-ranked EWE Baskets (14-7) 94-88 in the German BBL on Sunday night. He recorded 9 points and added 4 passes in 17 minutes. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Brose Baskets Bamberg (19-2) is placed first in the BBL. It was his team's ninth consecutive victory in a row. This year Nachbar has relatively solid stats: 13.0ppg, 4.1rpg and 2.4apg in the 21 games. He used to play for the Slovenian national team three years ago.

   #10. Point guard Beno Udrih (194-82, currently plays in NBA) couldn't help the Milwaukee Bucks (26-25) in their game against the Washington Wizards (15-36) in the NBA. Udrih recorded 6 points and added 3 assists. The Milwaukee Bucks were defeated 102-90 in Washington by the Wizards. It was Bucks' fourth consecutive loss in a row. Udrih's total stats this season are: 7.0ppg, 2.1rpg and 3.7apg. He is a former international player as three years ago he still played for the Slovenian senior national team.

   #11. Former international forward Dragisa Drobnjak (200-77, agency: Beo Basket, currently plays in Belgium) led Base Oostende to an overtime victory against the sixth-ranked Liege Basket 84-77 in the Belgian Ethias League last Friday. Drobnjak recorded 11 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 33 minutes. Drobnjak has reliable stats this year: 10.2ppg, 4.3rpg and 1.4apg in the 12 games. He used to play for the Slovenian national team five years ago.

   #12. Former U20 international center Salih Nuhanovic (208-82, currently plays in Czech Republic) led Levice to a victory over the third-ranked Basketbal Svitavy 82-76 in the Czech Republic NBL on Saturday night. Nuhanovic was MVP of the game. He recorded 16 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Nuhanovic is currently fifth on the list of best rebounders and also on the list of best blockers (second place). This season he has very good stats: 12.6ppg, 7.6rpg and 1.5bpg. Nuhanovic used to play for the Slovenian U20 national team back in 2002.

   #13. Former international power forward Miha Zupan (205-82, currently plays in Turkey) couldn't help Turk Telekom in their game against Karsiyaka in the Turkish TBL, despite his good performance in Saturday night's game. He was the second best scorer with 11 points. Zupan also added 5 rebounds in 23 minutes. But his team was badly defeated by 19 points 84-65. His stats this year are: 12.0ppg, 5.9rpg and 1.6apg in the 18 games. Zupan used to play for the Slovenian national team two years ago.

   #14. Former international swingman Zoran Dragic (196-89, currently plays in Euroleague) managed to help Unicaja Malaga to win against the closely-ranked ALBA Berlin 67-65 in the Euroleague last Thursday. He recorded only 2 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. Dragic's total stats this season are: 4.9ppg and 3.2rpg. He used to play for the Slovenian national team back in 2011.

   #15. Former international center Hasan Rizvic (212-84, currently plays in Russia) couldn't help Enisey Krasnoyarsk in their game against Lokomotiv in the Russian PBL. Rizvic scored 9 points in only 8 minutes. His team lost 87-94. This year Rizvic's total stats are: 5.7ppg and 2.6rpg in the seven games. He used to play for the Slovenian national team three years ago.

   #1. Experienced Damir Zeleznik (185-G-80, currently plays in Austria) contributed to a Xion Dukes' victory against the ninth-ranked Furstenfeld Panthers (6-14) 80-73 in the Austrian A Bundesliga in Sunday night's game. Zeleznik recorded 6 points and added 4 passes in 21 minutes. Xion Dukes Klosterneuburg (14-6) is placed fourth in the A Bundesliga. Zeleznik has averaged so far 7.6ppg, 2.6rpg and 3.5apg in the 18 games he played so far. He has a dual citizenship: Bosnia and Herzegovina and Slovenian.

   #2. Rene Zvan (182-PG-87, currently plays in Slovakia) helped Nitra win their game against the league outsider Handlova (6-19) 98-85 in the Slovakian Extraliga last Wednesday. Zvan recorded 6 points and added 4 passes. BK Edymax SPU Nitra (16-10) is placed third in the Extraliga. Zvan has averaged so far 3.9ppg, 1.3rpg and 2.2apg.

   #3. Marko Milicevic (204-F-82, currently plays in Greece), who plays in the Greek A2 (second division) could not help Ikaroi Serron (10-6) to beat OFI (4-12). He recorded 6 points. Ikaroi Serron was edged 69-66 on the road by the one of league's weakest teams OFI (#13). Milicevic has averaged so far 8.5ppg and 4.1rpg. He is another player who holds two passports: Serbian and Slovenian.

Villach Raiders (2.Bundesliga) re-signed experienced 36-year old Slovenian forward Simon Finzgar (196-80). He played there last season. He helped them to make it to the semifinals. A very good season in his career as he was selected to Eurobasket.com All-Austrian 2.Bundesliga Honorable Mention. The previous (14-15) season Finzgar played at Sencur Gorenjska gradbena druzba Kranj (Telemach League) in Slovenia where in 23 games he averaged 7.5ppg, 4.1rpg and 1.6apg. Zlatorog filled their roster for the upcoming season by inking Belarus U20 national team member Roman Rubinshteyn(195-G-96) on a two-year contract. Rubinshteyn last two seasons spent with Tsmoki-Minsk and in the latest one he averaged 16.4 points, 8.3 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 2.3 steals in 22 Premier League games for the second team of the club. Zlatorog Lasko (Liga Nova KBM) added to their roster 20-year old Belarusian guard Roman Rubinshteyn (195-78kg-96, agency: Alti Sport). He has played for the last two seasons at Tsmoki-Minsk in Belarusian Premier League. Rubinshteyn helped them to win the league title. A very spectacular season in his career as he was voted to Eurobasket.com All-Belarusian League 1st Team.
