We bring you last week's top performances from Slovenians who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.

   #1. This week's number one is an experienced former international small forward Nebojsa Joksimovic (193-81, currently plays in FIBA Europe Cup). He was the major contributor in Cibona's victory against the fourth-ranked Stelmet 102-83 in the FIBA Europe Cup in Wednesday night's game. Joksimovic scored 17 points, grabbed 4 boards, dished 4 assists and stole 4 balls in 25 minutes on the court. KK Cibona VIP Zagrebis placed first in group Q. This year Joksimovic averages: 8.5ppg, 3.0rpg, 2.5apg, 2.5spg, 3FGP: 62.5% in two games he played so far. Former Union Olimpija Ljubljana starter played for the Slovenian senior national team two years ago.

   #2. Second place goes to an international point guard Luka Doncic (201-99, currently plays in Euroleague). He managed to help Real Madrid to win against the ninth-ranked Darussafaka (11-12) 101-83 in the Euroleague last Friday. Doncic scored 5 points, grabbed 5 rebounds and dished 7 assists. Real Madrid (18-5) is placed first in group A. It was his team's ninth consecutive victory in a row. Doncic's overall stats this season are: 8.5ppg, 4.3rpg, 4.2apg, 2FGP: 51.8%, 3FGP: 41.4% and FT: 84.3%. He is in the roster of the Slovenian senior national team.

   #3. The Slovenian player who performed third best last week abroad was former U16 international center Jusuf Nurkic (213-94, currently plays in NBA). Nurkic led Portland Trail Blazers to a victory against the Orlando Magic (21-38) 112-103 in the NBA on Thursday night. He had a double-double by scoring 12 points and getting the same number of rebounds. Nurkic also added 5 assists, 2 blocks and 3 steals in 34 minutes. The Portland Trail Blazers have 24-32 record this season. They ended the series of three consecutive loses. Nurkic has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 12.5ppg, 9.5rpg, 3.0apg, 1.5bpg, 3.0spg, 2FGP: 64.7%(11-17) and FT: 75.0% in two games. Nurkic has a dual citizenship: Bosnia and Herzegovina and Slovenian. He played for the Slovenian U16 national team seven years ago.

   #4. Point guard Goran Dragic (190-86, currently plays in NBA) contributed to an easy victory against the Atlanta Hawks (32-25) 108-90 in the NBA in Friday night's game. Dragic recorded 17 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists and made 2 blocks (made all of his five free throws). The Miami Heat has 26-32 record this season. This year Dragic has very high stats. He averages: 20.2ppg, 3.9rpg and 6.2apg. Dragic is also Slovenian national team player.

   #5. International point guard Aleksej Nikolic (191-95, currently plays in Euroleague). He could not help Brose Baskets (8-15) to beat Zalgiris (10-13). Nikolic scored 9 points in only 11 minutes. But the 12th-placed Brose Baskets (8-15) lost 86-91 on the road to the higher-ranked (#10) Zalgiris in the group A of Euroleague. This year Nikolic's overall stats are: 3.7ppg and 2.0apg in three games. He plays currently for the Slovenian national team.

   #6. Guard Maj Kovacevic (196-90, currently plays in ABA League) was not able to help KK Zadar (7-16) in their last game. Despite Kovacevic's very good performance KK Zadar was edged 87-86 in Beograd by the much higher-ranked (#3) Partizan. He was the second best scorer with 16 points in 23 minutes. There are only three games left until the end of the ABA League Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. This year Kovacevic's total stats are: 10.0ppg and 1.5apg in six games. He is a former U20 international player as he played for the Slovenian team seven years ago.

Former international center Mirza Begic (216-85, currently plays in ABA League) contributed to Cedevita's victory against the closely-ranked Cibona (11-12) 89-85 in a derby game in the ABA League last Monday. Begic scored 8 points. KK Cedevita Zagreb (18-6) is placed second in the ABA League. It was his team's fifth consecutive victory in a row. There are only two games left until the end of the ABA League Regular Season. So now every game is very crucial. Begic has averaged so far 5.3ppg, 3.3rpg and 1.2bpg. He used to play for the Slovenian national team four years ago.

Swingman Emir Preldzic (206-87, agency: BeoBasket, currently plays in Euroleague) was not able to secure a victory for Galatasaray (7-16) in their game against Crvena Zvezda (13-10) in the Euroleague. Preldzic scored only 4 points, grabbed 5 rebounds and dished 3 assists in 17 minutes. The bottom-ranked Galatasaray (#16) was badly defeated 77-58 in Beograd by the much higher-ranked (#6) Crvena Zvezda in the group A of Euroleague. Preldzic has averaged so far 5.4ppg, 2.7rpg, 2.3apg and 1.2spg in 15 games. He used to play for the Slovenian national team back in 2008.

   #9. International guard Klemen Prepelic (191-92, currently plays in France) couldn't help Limoges CSP Elite (9-11) in their last game. Despite his good performance Limoges CSP Elite lost 70-82 on the opponent's court to the second-ranked Chalon/Saor. Prepelic was the second best scorer with 14 points. He also added 4 rebounds (was perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line) in 30 minutes. It's Prepelic's first season with the team. Prepelic has very impressive stats this year: 16.1ppg, 3.3rpg and 3.3apg in 19 games. He is also in the roster of the Slovenian national team.

   #10. Point guard Domen Bratoz (189-93, currently plays in Baltic League) couldn't help Rapla (8-4) in their game against Valmiera (9-3) in the Baltic League. Bratoz scored 9 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. But Rapla (#3) was defeated 87-81 on the opponent's court by the second-ranked Valmiera in the group A of Baltic League. Bratoz has relatively good stats this season: 12.6ppg, 4.4rpg, 3.6apg and 1.6spg. He is an international player who is currently on the senior Slovenian National Team roster.

   #11. Former international center Hasan Rizvic (212-84, currently plays in Turkey) contributed to an easy victory against the closely-ranked Final Genclik 94-77 in the Turkish TBL (second division) last Friday. He scored 18 points, had 4 boards, handed out 3 passes and blocked 4 shots. This season Rizvic has very high stats. He averages: 15.3ppg, 7.1rpg, 2.6apg, 1.7bpg and 1.7spg. Rizvic used to play for the Slovenian national team seven years ago.

   #12. International swingman Zoran Dragic (196-89, currently plays in Euroleague) couldn't help Armani Milano in their game against FC Barcelona in the Euroleague. He cannot count Thursday's game as one of the best ones. Dragic scored only 3 points in 5 minutes on the court. His team lost 78-83. Dragic has averaged so far 7.0ppg and 2.2rpg in 23 games. He is also in the roster of the Slovenian national team.

   #13. Former international forward Jure Balazic (204-80, currently plays in FIBA Europe Cup) contributed to an easy victory against the eighth-ranked Ironi Nahariya 80-65 in the FIBA Europe Cup in Wednesday night's game. Balazic scored only 2 points. Balazic has averaged so far 9.3ppg, 3.4rpg and 1.7apg. He used to play for the Slovenian national team two years ago.

   #14. Former international power forward Primoz Brezec (216-79, currently plays in Cyprus) led AEK to a victory over the league outsider Etha 89-75 in the Cypriot Division A on Saturday night. He was MVP of the game. Brezec scored 18 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. This season Brezec has very high stats. He averages: 15.5ppg and 7.3rpg. Brezec used to play for the Slovenian national team back in 2010.

   #15. International forward Blaz Mahkovic (201-90, currently plays in ABA League) contributed to Igokea's victory against the league outsider Krka 85-72 in the ABA League last Wednesday. Mahkovic scored only 4 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. Mahkovic has averaged so far 4.4ppg and 2.6rpg. He is also in the roster of the Slovenian national team.


The list of other players, who all have Slovenian passport but never been selected to any of Slovenian national teams:

   #1. Kevin Pangos (188-PG-93, college: Gonzaga, currently plays in Euroleague) contributed to Zalgiris' victory against the 12th-ranked Brose Baskets (8-15) 91-86 in the Euroleague on Friday night. Pangos scored 8 points and added 5 assists. B.C. Zalgiris Kaunas (10-13) is placed tenth in group A. Pangos' total stats this season are: 8.4ppg, 1.8rpg and 3.0apg. He has a dual citizenship: Canadian and Slovenian.

   #2. Ivan Marinkovic (209-F/C-93, currently plays in ABA League). Marinkovic could not help KK Zadar (7-16) to beat Partizan (17-6). He scored 8 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. KK Zadar was edged 87-86 on the road by the much higher-ranked Partizan (#3). There are only three games left until the end of the ABA League Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. Marinkovic has individually a very good season with high stats. He averages: 18.0ppg and 6.1rpg. Marinkovic is another player who holds two passports: Serbian and Slovenian. Despite his Slovenian nationality, Marinkovic previously played for the Serbian U20 national team and is probably not eligible to play for the Slovenian team.

   #3. Radoslav Pekovic (215-C-94, currently plays in Balkan League) was the major contributor in Kumanovo's victory against one of league's weakest teams Peja (2-3) 80-76 in the Balkan League in Wednesday night's game. Pekovic scored 10 points and grabbed 9 rebounds in 32 minutes. KK Kumanovo 2009 (4-1) is placed ninth in the Balkan League. His team will play only one more game in the Balkan League Second Stage. And now that game is very crucial. Pekovic has averaged so far 6.5ppg and 4.0rpg in 13 games he played so far.

   #4. Emanuel Richter (192-G-86, currently plays in Germany) led Topstar to a victory against the 14th-ranked Bayreuth 2 (2-18) 81-70 in the German Regionalliga (fourth division) last Saturday. Richter scored 20 points and added 3 assists in 33 minutes. BG Topstar Leitershofen/Stadtbergen (7-13) is placed 12th in South-East group. This year Richter has relatively solid stats: 11.5ppg, 2.4rpg, 2.8apg and 1.6spg in 17 games.

   #5. Experienced Fuad Memcic (210-C/F-82, agency: Promotex, currently plays in Austria) contributed to an Arkadia Lions' victory against the league leader Redwell Gunners Oberwart (17-4) 80-69 in the Austrian A Bundesliga in Friday night's game. He scored 11 points in only a mere 5 minutes. Arkadia Traiskirchen Lions (10-12) are placed sixth in the A Bundesliga. Memcic has averaged so far 3.6ppg and 1.6rpg in 19 games. He has both Bosnia and Herzegovina and Slovenian nationalities.

   #6. Leon Dronjak (191-G-91, currently plays in Germany) led Aschersleben to a victory over the tenth-ranked Hannover Korbjaeger crushing them 122-92 in the German Regionalliga (fourth division) in Saturday night's game. Dronjak was the best player in that game. He scored 31 points (!!!), had 4 boards, passed 9 assists and added 4 steals in 27 minutes. This year Dronjak has relatively solid stats: 11.4ppg, 2.4rpg, 5.1apg and 1.4spg in 14 games.

   #7. Andraz Kavas (208-F-92, agency: Two Points, college: Harding, currently plays in Spain) was not able to help Caceres Basket (11-14) in their last game on Friday. Despite his good performance Caceres Basket was defeated 81-70 in San Sebastian by the second-ranked Gipuzkoa. Kavas was the second best scorer with 12 points. Kavas has averaged so far 4.0ppg and 1.8rpg.

   #8. Milorad Sedlarevic (201-F-93, currently plays in Canada) contributed to an University of Prince Edward Island's victory against the Capers 86-82 in the Canadian university league CIS on Sunday night. He recorded 12 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in only a mere 14 minutes. This year Sedlarevic has relatively solid stats: 11.6ppg, 4.5rpg and 1.3apg in 19 games.

   #9. Ljubisa Markovic (212-C/F-91, currently plays in Germany) is a teammate of previously mentioned Leon Dronjak and both played together in the last German Regionalliga game. Markovic contributed to an easy victory against the tenth-ranked Hannover Korbjaeger crushing them 122-92. He had a double-double by scoring 12 points and getting 11 rebounds. Markovic also added 7 assists, 3 blocks and 3 steals in 26 minutes. Markovic has very impressive stats this year: 15.1ppg, 8.8rpg, 2.7apg and 1.1spg in 14 games. He also holds two passports: Slovenian and Serbian.

   #10. Bojan Jovanovic (182-G-82, currently plays in Serbia) contributed to Pirot's victory against the 12th-ranked Boljevac 91-77 in the Serbian 2MLS (second division) last Saturday. Jovanovic recorded 6 points. Jovanovic has averaged so far 3.3ppg and 1.6rpg.

23-year old forward Tim Skerbec (200-F-93) had an amazing evening in the last round for Portoroz (they play in Places 7-12) and receives a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 1 (Second Stage). He had the game-high 32 points adding nine rebounds and three assists for Portoroz as his team was edged out by Sencur Gor. (#8, 7-4) 75-74. Portoroz maintains the 6th position in Slovenian league. Rogaska pick up big road win - 2 days ago
Rogaska handed Zlatorog their fist home loss of the season, 75-59, in the opening Round of the Slovenian League Championship Stage.
