The most important game in the last round took place in Konjice between third ranked Konjice (9-7) and fifth ranked Grosuplje (9-7) on Thursday night. Konjice was defeated by Grosuplje at home 77-59. The game was mostly controlled by Grosuplje. Konjice managed to win second period 20-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Konjice 41-24 including 29 on the defensive glass. Grosuplje looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Power forward Tomo Cajic (200-85) fired 23 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Nigerian center Sani Ibrahim (207-82, college: Gulf Coast CC) chipped in 4 points and 13 rebounds. Swingman Kristjan Muzel (194-91) produced 16 points and 4 assists for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Grosuplje have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Konjice and Plama Pur. Grosuplje is looking forward to face league's second-placed Sezana at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Konjice will play against Crnomelj and is hoping to win this game.
An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Ljubljana. Top-ranked Ilirija faced 4th ranked Triglav. Host Ilirija (16-0) smashed guests from Kranj (8-8) 93-71. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international forward Goran Jagodnik (202-74, agency: BeoBasket) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 21 points and 14 rebounds. Jasmin Hukic contributed with 21 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Guard Rok Jakobcic (199-91) replied with 16 points for Triglav. Triglav's coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Undefeated Ilirija have an impressive 16-game winning streak. Newly promoted Ilirija maintains first position with 16-0 record. Triglav lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the sixth place with eight games lost. They share the position with Parklji and Celje. Ilirija will play against Celje (#7) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Triglav will play against Parklji and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
The game in Celje was also quite interesting. Second ranked Sezana (14-2) played at the court of 6th ranked Celje (8-8). Sezana managed to secure a 6-point victory 74-68 on Friday. Worth to mention a great performance of Aljaz Korosec who helped to win the game recording 17 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. At the losing side Tadej Kostomaj responded with 10 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists. Celje's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Sezana have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 14-2 record having just two points less than leader Ilirija. Celje at the other side keeps the sixth place with eight games lost. They share the position with Triglav and Parklji. Sezana will meet Grosuplje (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Celje will play against the league's leader Ilirija and hope to secure a win.

Rest of the games of round 16 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
Pingvini was defeated by Elektra in Sostanj 72-64. Plama Pur beat Crnomelj at home 65-55. Bottom-ranked Branik lost to Parklji on the opponent's court 71-85.
The best stats of 16th round was 24 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists by Ziga Zagorc of Elektra.

Elektra - Pingvini 72-64

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Sostanj where 10th ranked Pingvini (4-12) was defeated by eleventh ranked Elektra (4-12) 72-64 on Thursday. The hosts trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 7-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 72-64. Elektra dominated on the defensive end, holding Pingvini to just 7 points in second quarter. They outrebounded Pingvini 50-27 including a 34-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Ziga Zagorc (188-84) who helped to win the game recording 24 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and Jan Rizman (196-94) who added 14 points and 12 rebounds during the contest. Four Elektra players scored in double figures. At the losing side guard Urban Verbic (191-89) responded with 13 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists and center Klemen Kostrevc (202-99) scored 13 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Elektra moved-up to tenth place, which they share with defeated Pingvini. Pingvini lost eighth consecutive game. Elektra will meet higher ranked Plama Pur (#5) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Pingvini will play against Branik (#12) in Maribor and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

No shocking result in a game in Ilirska Bistrica where sixth ranked Plama Pur (9-7) defeated 9th ranked Crnomelj (5-11) 65-55 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Plama Pur. Crnomelj managed to win second period 15-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Plama Pur forced 19 Crnomelj turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of swingman Anze Srebovt (196-91) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds and power forward Robi Hrescak (203-92) who added 16 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. Five Plama Pur players scored in double figures. At the losing side guard Matic Lozar (183-92) responded with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds and guard Nejc Butala (190-93) scored 14 points and 5 rebounds. Very expected game in Bezigrad where 12th ranked Branik (2-14) was defeated by eighth ranked Parklji (8-8) 85-71 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 6 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 1-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 85-71. Parklji made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. Parklji outrebounded Branik 48-29 including a 35-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Ziga Doljak (198-95) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 24 points and 12 rebounds and guard Dejan Mlakar (192-88) who added 10 points, 8 rebounds and 10 assists during the contest. Experienced 52-year old Slovenian coach Zoran Martic left Trefl Sopot (PLK). Among other achievements Martic won Macedonian League championship title in 2014. He received also Eurobasket.com All-Macedonian League Coach of the Year award back in 2014. Former international Point guard Matic Rebec (181-PG-95) put on an amazing game in the last round for top-ranked Krka, receiving a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 2 (Second Stage). 34-year old center Sani Ibrahim (207-C-82) had a very impressive game in the last round for Grosuplje and receives a Eurobasket.com 2SKL Player of the Week award for round 20. He had a double-double of 24 points and 15 rebounds, while his team beat Pingvini (#11, 4-16) 71-61. Grosuplje is placed at 3rd position in Slovenian 2SKL.
