The most exciting game of round 17 in the 2SKL took place in Grosuplje. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of second-ranked Sezana (14-3) to third ranked Grosuplje (10-7) 64-61 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Sezana. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Sezana won third quarter 18-10. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Nigerian center Sani Ibrahim (207-82, college: Gulf Coast CC) orchestrated the victory by scoring 14 points and 7 rebounds. point guard Zan Jerman (186-92) contributed with 11 points for the winners. Grosuplje's coach Predrag Milovic used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Guard Matic Urbas (188-93) answered with 16 points and 5 assists for Sezana. Grosuplje have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain third place with 10-7 record having seven points less than leader Ilirija. Sezana at the other side keeps the second position with three games lost. Grosuplje are looking forward to face league's leader Ilirija in Ljubljana in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Sezana will play at home against Crnomelj and is hoping to win this game.
Bottom-ranked Branik managed to get a third victory, breaking the series of four consecutive losses. This time they won against eleventh-ranked Pingvini in Maribor 75-59. It's especially surprising that the victory came too easily and 16-point difference suggests that Branik is in a good shape to leave the bottom place. Swingman Marko Cej (192-88) stepped up and scored 24 points and 7 assists for the winners and Igor Spesic chipped in 15 points and 13 rebounds. Guard Urban Verbic (191-89) responded with 28 points and 8 rebounds. Pingvini's coach Gasper Kolman rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Branik maintains twelfth place with 3-14 record. Pingvini lost ninth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the eleventh position with 13 games lost. Branik will play against higher ranked Elektra (#10) in Sostanj in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Pingvini will play at home against Triglav and will have a slim chance for a victory.
2SKL top team - Ilirija (17-0) managed to deliver another win on Saturday. This time they beat seventh ranked Celje (8-9) 76-67. Goran Jagodnik nailed a double-double by scoring 21 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) for the winning side. Tadej Kostomaj came up with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists for Celje in the defeat. Undefeated Ilirija have an impressive series of seventeen victories in a row. Newly promoted Ilirija maintains first place with 17-0 record. Loser Celje keeps the seventh position with nine games lost. They share it with Parklji. Ilirija will meet at home Grosuplje (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Celje will play against Parklji (#8) in Bezigrad and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Worth to mention about the upset in a game between Plama Pur (9-8) and Elektra (5-12), which took place in Ilirska Bistrica. Higher ranked Plama Pur lost at home to tenth ranked Elektra 82-90. The best player for the winners was Jan Rizman who scored 32 points and 4 assists. The victory was the third consecutive win for Elektra. They maintain tenth place with 5-12 record. Plama Pur at the other side dropped to the fourth position with eight games lost. Elektra's next round opponent will be bottom-ranked Branik (#12) in Maribor. Plama Pur will play on the road against Konjice (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Another upset was a game between Konjice (9-8) and Crnomelj (6-11), which took place in Crnomelj. 4th placed Konjice lost to ninth ranked Crnomelj in a road game 60-74 on Saturday. Matic Lozar orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 9 rebounds, 10 assists and 4 steals. Crnomelj's coach Milan Kordic allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Crnomelj maintains ninth place with 6-11 record. Konjice lost their third game in a row. They keep the fourth position with eight games lost. Crnomelj will face league's second-placed Sezana on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Konjice will play against Plama Pur and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

In the last game of round 17 Parklji was beaten by Triglav on the road 91-80.

Branik - Pingvini 75-59

Bottom-ranked Branik managed to get a third victory, breaking the series of four consecutive losses. This time they won against eleventh-ranked Pingvini in Maribor 75-59. It's especially surprising that the victory came too easily and 16-point difference suggests that Branik is in a good shape to leave the bottom place. The game without a history. Branik led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Pingvini's 34. Branik forced 19 Pingvini turnovers. Swingman Marko Cej (192-88) stepped up and scored 24 points and 7 assists for the winners and power forward Igor Spesic (204-83) chipped in 15 points and 13 rebounds. Guard Urban Verbic (191-89) responded with 28 points and 8 rebounds and forward Tilen Heco (190-92) scored 11 points and 8 rebounds. Everything could happen in Kranj at the game between two tied teams. Both sixth ranked Triglav and 8th ranked Parklji had identical 8-8 record. This time Triglav used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Bezigrad 91-80 on Saturday night. The game was mostly controlled by Triglav. Parklji was better in fourth quarter 25-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Guard Anze Zdolsek (177-92) orchestrated the victory by scoring 26 points and 5 assists (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). Forward Matija Vravnik (198-92) contributed with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Four Triglav players scored in double figures. Triglav's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The former international forward Zeljko Zagorac (204-81) answered with 33 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds and guard Dejan Mlakar (192-88) added 12 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Parklji. Triglav (9-8) moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Konjice and Plama Pur. Loser Parklji dropped to the seventh position with nine games lost. Triglav will face Pingvini (#11) in Ljubljana in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Parklji will play at home against Celje (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Worth to mention about the upset in a game between Plama Pur (9-8) and Elektra (5-12), which took place in Ilirska Bistrica. Higher ranked Plama Pur lost at home to tenth ranked Elektra 82-90. Plama Pur was ahead by 1 point at the halftime before a 27-17 third quarter run of Elektra. Strangely Plama Pur outrebounded Elektra 34-18 including 22 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was Jan Rizman (196-94) who scored 32 points and 4 assists. Guard Aldin Hasic (195-94) chipped in 15 points and 7 assists. The former international forward Goran Jagodnik (202-74, agency: BeoBasket) nailed a double-double by scoring 21 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) for the winning side and international point guard Zan-Mark Sisko (189-97, agency: BeoBasket) accounted for 18 points, 8 rebounds and 9 assists.
