Here is the weekly review of the top performing Slovenian players, who play currently abroad.

   #1. This week's number one is former U16 international center Jusuf Nurkic (213-94, currently plays in NBA). He was the major contributor in a Portland Trail Blazers' victory against the Denver Nuggets (35-40) 122-113 in the NBA in Tuesday night's game. Nurkic had a double-double by scoring 33 points and getting 16 rebounds. He also added 3 blocks in 33 minutes on the court. The Portland Trail Blazers have 37-37 record this season. It was his team's fifth consecutive victory in a row. Nurkic has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 15.2ppg, 10.3rpg, 3.2apg, 2.0bpg, 1.2spg, 2FGP: 51.1% and FT: 66.0% in 20 games he played so far. Nurkic has a dual citizenship: Bosnia and Herzegovina and Slovenian. He played for the Slovenian U16 national team seven years ago.

   #2. Second place goes to an international point guard Goran Dragic (190-86, currently plays in NBA). Dragic led Miami Heat to a 1-point victory over the Detroit Pistons (34-42) 97-96 in the NBA last Tuesday. He was MVP of the game. Dragic scored 28 points (!!!), had 4 rebounds and dished 4 assists. The Miami Heat has 37-39 record this season. This year Dragic has very high stats. He averages: 20.1ppg, 3.9rpg, 5.9apg, 1.2spg, 2FGP: 49.7%, 3FGP: 40.7% and FT: 78.9%. Dragic is in the roster of the Slovenian senior national team.

   #3. The Slovenian player who performed third best last week abroad was an international center Gasper Vidmar (211-87, currently plays in Turkey). He led Banvit to a victory against the eighth-ranked Gaziantep (11-12) 83-77 in the Turkish BSL on Sunday night. Vidmar scored 11 points, grabbed 4 rebounds and dished 4 assists in 24 minutes. Banvit Basketbol Kulubu (16-7) is placed fourth in the BSL. Vidmar has relatively good stats this year: 10.1ppg, 4.5rpg, 1.2apg, 2FGP: 66.7%(92-138) and FT: 38.7% in 23 games. He is also a member of the Slovenian senior national team.

   #4. Center Alen Omic (216-92, currently plays in EuroCup) contributed to an Unicaja Malaga's victory against the league leader Valencia Basket (6-0) 79-71 in the Eurocup last Friday. Omic had a double-double by scoring 12 points and getting 10 rebounds in 27 minutes. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Unicaja Malaga (3-3) is placed second in the Eurocup. This year Omic's overall stats are: 6.2ppg and 5.7rpg in 10 games. He is also Slovenian national team player.

An experienced former international small forward Nebojsa Joksimovic (193-81, currently plays in Croatia) contributed to Cibona's victory against the closely-ranked KK Zagreb (10-12) 91-87 in a derby game in the Croatian A1 on Thursday night. Joksimovic scored 13 points, grabbed 4 rebounds and dished 8 assists. KK Cibona VIP Zagreb (16-6) is placed fifth in the A1. There are only four games left until the end of the Regular Season. This year Muric's total stats are: 7.7ppg, 3.7rpg and 1.7apg in 23 games. He is an international player who is currently on the senior Slovenian National Team roster.

International point guard Luka Doncic (201-99, currently plays in Euroleague) managed to help Real Madrid to win against the seventh-ranked Fenerbahce (17-12) 61-56 in the Euroleague last Friday. Doncic scored 5 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. Real Madrid (22-7) is placed first in the Euroleague. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. They will play only one more game in the Euroleague Regular Season. And now that game is very crucial. Doncic has averaged so far 8.3ppg, 4.4rpg and 4.1apg. He is also Slovenian national team player.

   #8. Point guard Beno Udrih (190-82, currently plays in NBA) could not help the Detroit Pistons (34-42) in their last game. Despite Udrih's very good performance the Detroit Pistons (34-42) were edged 108-105 on the road by the Milwaukee Bucks. He scored 16 points and added 8 passes in 21 minutes. It's Udrih's first season with the team. Udrih has averaged so far 6.2ppg, 1.5rpg and 3.5apg in 33 games. He used to play for the Slovenian national team back in 2010.

Former U20 international guard Maj Kovacevic (196-90, currently plays in Croatia) contributed to a KK Zadar's victory against the closely-ranked Cibona (16-6) 90-80 in the Croatian A1 in Sunday night's game. Kovacevic recorded 17 points. KK Zadar (9-9) is placed sixth in the A1. There are only four games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be important. This season Kovacevic has relatively solid stats: 14.0ppg, 1.3rpg and 1.4apg. He used to play for the Slovenian U20 national team seven years ago.

   #10. Power forward Bostjan Nachbar (205-80, currently plays in Spain) was not able to help Sevilla (8-16) in their last game on Sunday. Despite Nachbar's very good performance Sevilla was defeated 71-57 at home by the lower-ranked Joventut (#14). He was the top scorer with 17 points. Nachbar also added 5 rebounds. Nachbar has reliable stats this season: 12.4ppg and 4.0rpg. He is a former international player as four years ago he still played for the Slovenian senior national team.

   #11. International guard Klemen Prepelic (191-92, currently plays in France) was not able to secure a victory for Limoges CSP Elite (7-17) in their last game. Despite Prepelic's very good performance Limoges CSP Elite lost 76-84 on the opponent's court to the higher-ranked (#6) Paris-Levallois. He was the second best scorer with 15 points. Prepelic also added 8 passes in 33 minutes. Prepelic has very impressive stats this year: 15.8ppg, 3.0rpg and 3.5apg in 24 games. He plays currently for the Slovenian national team.

   #12. Former international shooting guard Sasha Vujacic (201-84, agency: Interperformances, currently plays in NBA) helped New York Knicks win their game against the Miami Heat 98-94 in the NBA last Friday. Vujacic scored 9 points and added 7 passes. Vujacic has averaged so far 2.7ppg and 1.1rpg. He used to play for the Slovenian national team back in 2009.

   #13. International forward Blaz Mahkovic (201-90, currently plays in Bosnia) helped Igokea win their game against the fifth-ranked Kakanj 86-69 in the Bosnia and Herzegovina Division I on Saturday night. Mahkovic scored 13 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 20 minutes. Mahkovic has averaged so far 6.5ppg and 3.8rpg in four games. He is also Slovenian national team player.

   #14. International guard Jaka Blazic (196-90, currently plays in Euroleague) helped his Spanish team Baskonia win their game against the 13th-ranked Galatasaray crushing them 103-80 in the Euroleague in Friday night's game. Blazic scored only 3 points. Blazic has averaged so far 4.5ppg and 2.2rpg. He plays currently for the Slovenian national team.

   #15. Former international forward Jure Balazic (204-80, currently plays in Turkey) faced previously mentioned Gasper Vidmar in the Turkish BSL last game. Balazic couldn't help Gaziantep in their game against Banvit. He scored 9 points in 15 minutes. His team lost 77-83. Balazic has averaged so far 7.7ppg, 2.7rpg and 1.5apg in 23 games. He used to play for the Slovenian national team two years ago.


The list of other players, who all have Slovenian passport but never been selected to any of Slovenian national teams:

   #1. Kevin Pangos (188-PG-93, college: Gonzaga, currently plays in Euroleague) could not help Zalgiris (13-16) in their last game on Friday. Despite Pangos' very good performance Zalgiris was defeated 88-84 at home by the one of league's weakest teams Armani Milano (#15). He was the top scorer with 16 points. Pangos also added 3 assists. His team will play only one more game in the Euroleague Regular Season. And that game will be critical. Pangos' overall stats this season are: 8.4ppg, 1.7rpg and 3.2apg. He has a dual citizenship: Canadian and Slovenian.

   #2. Ivan Marinkovic (209-F/C-93, currently plays in Croatia) led KK Zadar to a victory against the closely-ranked Cibona (16-6) 90-80 in the Croatian A1 last Sunday. Marinkovic recorded 15 points in 23 minutes. KK Zadar (9-9) is placed sixth in the A1. There are only four games left until the end of the Regular Season. Marinkovic has reliable stats this year: 13.9ppg, 4.9rpg and 1.1apg in 21 games he played so far. He is another player who holds two passports: Serbian and Slovenian. Despite Marinkovic's Slovenian nationality, he previously played for the Serbian U20 national team and is probably not eligible to play for the Slovenian team.

   #3. Rasid Mahalbasic (210-C-90, agency: BeoBasket, currently plays in Spain) was not able to help Sevilla in their game against Joventut (8-17) in the Spanish Liga Endesa. Mahalbasic scored 8 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in 25 minutes. Sevilla lost 57-71 on their home court in Sevilla to the lower-ranked (#14) Joventut. Mahalbasic's stats this year are: 11.4ppg, 6.5rpg and 1.4apg in 14 games. He has both Austrian and Slovenian nationalities.

   #4. Radoslav Pekovic (215-C-94, currently plays in FYR Macedonia) was not able to secure a victory for Kumanovo (1-3) in their last game on Saturday. Despite Pekovic's good performance the sixth-placed Kumanovo (1-3) was edged 91-88 on their home court in Kumanovo by the second-ranked Karpos Sokoli in the Places 1-6 group. He scored 13 points, had 4 rebounds and made 3 blocks. Pekovic has averaged so far 6.4ppg and 3.5rpg.

   #5. Experienced Vlado Ilievski (188-PG-80, also represented by BeoBasket, currently plays in FYR Macedonia) led Rabotnicki to a 1-point victory over the fifth-ranked Kozuv (1-3) 68-67 in the FYR Macedonian Prva Liga last Saturday. He was the best player in that game. Ilievski recorded 13 points and added 4 passes in 38 minutes. KK Rabotnicki AD Skopje (2-2) is placed third in Places 1-6 group. Ilievski has averaged so far 9.8ppg, 2.3rpg, 6.3apg and 1.3spg in 16 games. He also holds two passports: Slovenian and FYR Macedonian.

   #6. Emanuel Richter (192-G-86, currently plays in Germany) was the major contributor in Topstar's surprising victory against the fourth-ranked Treuchtlingen 95-87 in the German Regionalliga (fourth division) in Saturday night's game. Richter scored 16 points in 30 minutes. Richter's stats this year are: 11.9ppg, 2.1rpg, 2.6apg and 1.5spg in 21 games.

   #7. Robert Abramovic (185-PG-88, currently plays in Kosovo) contributed to an easy victory against the closely-ranked Trepca crushing them 109-86 in the Kosovan SuperLeague in Saturday night's game. He scored 15 points. Abramovic averaged so far 13.7ppg, 2.3rpg and 3.3apg.

   #8. Andraz Kavas (208-F-92, agency: Two Points, college: Harding, currently plays in Spain) contributed to a 1-point Caceres Basket's victory against the closely-ranked Araberri 83-82 in the Spanish LEB Gold (second division) last Sunday. He scored 9 points in 15 minutes. Kavas has averaged so far 4.8ppg and 1.7rpg in nine games.

   #9. Ljubisa Markovic (212-C/F-91, currently plays in Germany) contributed to an easy victory against the fifth-ranked Vechta-2 crushing them 91-68 in the German Regionalliga (fourth division) on Saturday night. He scored 16 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in 22 minutes. Markovic has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 15.2ppg, 8.5rpg, 2.5apg and 1.1spg in 19 games. Markovic has Slovenian and Serbian nationalities.

   #10. Leon Dronjak (191-G-91, currently plays in Germany) is a teammate of previously mentioned Ljubisa Markovic and both played together in the last German Regionalliga game. Dronjak contributed to an easy victory against the fifth-ranked Vechta-2 crushing them 91-68. He scored 12 points and added 8 passes in 27 minutes. Dronjak's stats this year are: 10.9ppg, 2.5rpg, 4.8apg and 1.5spg in 19 games.
