LEB Silver Round 26: Clinicas Rincon defeats leader Marin - Apr 10, 2016


The Regular Season in LEB Silver just ended. The fans could enjoy quite many interesting games in the last round. The round ended with defeat of the leader and favorites losing the games.

The most surprising game was another loss of top-ranked Marin (20-6) at the home court on Saturday night. Hosts were defeated by ninth ranked Clinicas Rincon (11-15) 78-70. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Marin won third quarter 22-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Marin 42-28 including 27 on the defensive glass. Brazilian guard Carlos Cobos (193-88) orchestrated the victory by scoring 18 points and 9 rebounds. Romanian power forward Rares Uta (211-97) contributed with 17 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. American forward Javonte Green (193-93, college: Radford) replied with 26 points for Marin. Marin's coach Javier Llorente rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Clinicas Rincon maintains ninth position with 11-15 record. Marin at the other side still keeps top place with six games lost.
Another interesting game for CB Granada (15-11) which played on the court of CB Tarragona 2017 (14-12). Fifth ranked CB Granada won 84-75. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of CB Tarragona 2017. Guard Bernardo Castillo (196-88) scored 13 points and 5 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Jordan Stone chipped in 10 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. CB Granada's coach Pablo Pin allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American forward Orion Outerbridge (206-88, college: Rhode Island) responded with 23 points and 6 rebounds. Newly promoted CB Granada maintains fifth position with 15-11 record, which they share with Avila. CB Tarragona 2017 at the other side keeps the seventh place with 12 games lost.
Very important is a road loss of third ranked Araberri (17-9) against sixth ranked Fontedoso Carrefour (15-11) on Saturday night. Visiting Araberri was defeated by Fontedoso Carrefour in Avila 91-81. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Araberri. Bryant Mbamalu notched 27 points and 6 rebounds to lead the effort. Even a double-double of 22 points and 14 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) by Beau Levesque did not help to save the game for Araberri. Fontedoso Carrefour moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Granada. Loser Araberri keeps the third position with nine games lost.
A very interesting game took place in Amorebieta-Echano. It ended with only one-point home defeat of 10th ranked Zornotza (10-16) to twelfth ranked Cambados (10-16) 77-76 in the game for the tenth place. The best player for the winners was Shota Gelazonia who scored 14 points and 9 rebounds. Zornotza's coach Mikel Garitaonandia tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Cambados moved-up to tenth place, which they share with defeated Zornotza.
The game between fourth ranked Meridiano Alicante (16-10) and 8th ranked Moron (13-13) in Alicante on Saturday ended with biggest points difference. Meridiano Alicante beat guests from Moron de la Frontera 79-61. Johan Kody orchestrated the victory by scoring 15 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Meridiano Alicante have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position with 16-10 record. Moron lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the eighth place with 13 games lost.

In the last two games of round 26 Valladolid beat Getafe on the road 81-71. El Olivar lost to Sammic ISB on its own court 68-76.


Getafe - Valladolid 71-81

The game between closely ranked teams ended with thirteenth ranked Blancos de Rueda's (9-17) road victory over bottom-ranked Getafe (4-22) in Madrid 81-71 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 7-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 81-71. Getafe was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. British forward Rowell Graham (197-94) orchestrated the victory by scoring 15 points and 8 rebounds. Guard Miguel Gonzalez (199-99) contributed with 9 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Power forward Antoni Vicens (203-90) replied with 15 points and 5 rebounds and American-Haitian Marvin Dominique (201-91, college: St.Peter's, agency: Duran International) added 11 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Getafe. Four Getafe players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Blancos de Rueda moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with El Olivar. Getafe lost third consecutive game. They stay dead last with 22 lost games.

But El Olivar won third quarter 23-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Power forward Lander Segurola (205-93) orchestrated the victory by scoring 8 points and 9 rebounds. French-American forward Jordan Semple (201-92, college: Chico St.) contributed with 13 points for the winners. Guard Alvaro Sanz (178-98) replied with 12 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and Lithuanian forward Zygimantas Riauka (206-93, college: Wisc.-Parkside) added 12 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for El Olivar. Four El Olivar players scored in double figures. El Olivar's coach Carlos Iglesias let to play twelve players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Sammic ISB have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 19-7 record behind leader Marin. Newly promoted El Olivar dropped to the twelfth place with 17 games lost.

Araberri cruised past Avila to clinch LEB Silver playoff title. The game without a history. Araberri led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Fontedoso Carrefour's 32. Araberri had a 27-14 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a great evening for American forward Beau Levesque (200-91, college: St.Mary's, CA) who led his team to a victory scoring 22 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Jamaican forward Tyran De Lattibeaudiere (201-91, college: Lamar) helped adding 17 points and 9 rebounds. Marin Peixegalego celebrated LEB Silver Cup title. They overcame Carrefour de Avila for the trophy. Javonte Green (193-F-93, college: Radford) nailed 22 points to pace the winners.
Marin jumped to a 20:17 lead after the opening quarter. They dominated throughout the second frame. Marin piled up a 45:32 halftime advantage. They extended the gap in the third quarter. Marin entered the fourth frame up by 14 points 61:47. Avila narrowed the gap in the fourth frame but could not avoid the loss at the end. Antonio Pantin (206-C/F-88, agency: Interperformances) posted 15 points, while Gregorio Adon (198-F-91) added 14 points for the winners. Carles Marzo (190-PG-92, agency: Duran International) responded with 17 points for Avila. Ignas Ramasauskas (211-C-93) chipped in 12 points in the loss.
